Pearl is on stage until late June, so I doubt they have been filming an episode proper.

Skit vs actual episode segment.
Quite often audition pieces (which is probably what this was as it clearly showed us Bill in action) are developed into or taken from full episodes. There's every chance that this is scripted in an episode and will actually be filmed proper when proper filming starts. Thus it is both a skit and a clip from a future episode. |

I've seen McGann's and McCoy's audition 'scenes', and they didn't end up in an episode. OT, but what strikes me with the latter is how post-Season 24 McCoy appears to be playing it. Not clownish, but pretty dark and intense. The scripts for his first year weren't written with him in mind, and I think you can tell. Remaining OT, I believe Matt's audition was recorded. Love to see that sometime. |

I'm not convinced about the skit being a real scene, due to half of it being footage from Into the Dalek, but a possible explanation could be they're filling in gaps they haven't filmed yet?
It was a fun skit but just didn't come across to me as something you'd see in a real episode. |

It was a fun skit but just didn't come across to me as something you'd see in a real episode. Only the Daleks at the start were taken from In to the Dalek. How about you watch the damn thing for once |

It's not a skit, regardless of whether it's part of an episode or not. A skit would be more like The Curse of Fatal Death where there's full on comedy or parody or satire. It's humorous, but not comedy. It's not a skit.

Regarding the skit, so its not just me who thinks this skit wouldn't be part of an actual episode, its just a skit, a skit designed purposely to introduce the new companion to the audience, they thought it would be fun to introduce her in a skit rather than just announce the actress, as this way we can get a flavour of this new character via this skit... It also allows them to show the Daleks in this skit, perhaps that rumour of them having to use the Daleks every year in some form is true, and this skit has ticked that box for this year leaving the x-mas episode (not a skit) to be a story with out them, as they have already been used in a skit... Perhaps this skit was written as an audition skit with various actresses coming in to do the skit alongside Capaldi and once they picked Pearl as the companion they then filmed the skit so us the audience could see the skit and get excited for future possibilities. By the way this isn't a serious post, its just a skit.

So what was in DWM about the secret filming they've done so far?
Just the Bill intro piece or something more and did they confirm it's part of an episode like they tweeted? |

Including me mentioning Katy Manning's audition scene from The Daemons confronting 'Azmael' up thread. A giant booming Maurice Denham wouldn't have been that effective, I don't think.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-36158672 Really interesting comments from Peter and Moff at the Target artwork Exhibition, especially from Moff Quote:
And how difficult had it been keeping the casting secret? It always happens though, from nowhere the chosen person suddenly is attracting the smart money...
"No one got it until some insider dealer went and placed a bet," Moffat said. "It wasn't me - I wouldn't do that - but I'm sure we'll find out who it was." |

You will be next year when Doctor Who returns! Always assuming the Tory party in UK haven't decided it should be rescheduled to a different day and time.
BTW Congrats to Mark Selby who won the World Snooker Championship tonight. Assuming he reads this thread if he's a Doctor Who follower... What is wrong with these people? This is the most nonsensical of a long line of stupid attempts at interference in BBC matters. Are they genuinely suggesting that showing the most popular shows at times when people actually want to watch them is wrong and somehow unfair? ![]() I mean, what?

Yeah. They're only about 30 years behind the times, when programme clashes were a problem in the days before video recorders. Most politicians don't watch TV.
Actually it's really another attempt to chip away at and eventually dismantle the BBC altogether on behalf of commercial and political interests. Commercial operators don't like the competition and politicians (left and right) don't like difficult questions. This is the one news source that has a requirement to be impartial (even if it isn't always perfect at that). If this goes through, a few years from now it'll be "Look, the BBC no longer makes programmes that people want to watch. How is it relevant anymore? We should just close it down. The license fee is a waste of tax payer's money." |

Yeah, if the tories get their way Strictly will be shown on a Thursday lunchtime, Bake Off at midnight on Sunday, and Doctor Who will be on a Tuesday afternoon.

Are they genuinely suggesting that showing the most popular shows at times when people actually want to watch them is wrong and somehow unfair? ![]() I mean, what? ![]() If the BBC was forced to show Strictly on Thursday lunchtime, I'd use iPlayer to watch it at exactly the same time as X-factor just to send an up yours message to Simon Cowell
