It's not true about my beloved AC coming back, is it.

I went all wobbly with joy when I read malcy86's post - I should have known it was too good to be true.

Dear Granny,

Like causes produce like effects. Given that the original Peladon story was inspired by Britain's joining the Common Market, it's inevitable that the vote to leave the European Union will prompt thoughts of a sequel: it would be bizarre to assume that that nice Mr Moffat hasn't thought about this, independently of anything posted on this forum. Don't give up yet - there are a lot of people out there who would love to see the return of Alpha Centauri, and Moffat knows this. It may well happen: at present we just don't know.

He said Axons at somepoint as well in S10. He was right about the Superhero thing but pinch of salt and all that.”

Not forgetting the hairstyle of the male Peladonians (The Monster Of Peladon) would be the funniest part of the show!

But I think the rumour of a Peladon story is just that. A rumour. I don't seriously think we'll be going there again. Besides I thought in one of the New Adventures books that Peladon had already decided to leave the Federation. So quite frankly a bit redundant.

Imminent announcement???

Granted I've only listened to the first minutes of that guy's YouTube video, but this is all a bit mental. Suggesting random retweets are indicative of someone having found every episode of Doctor Who is a bit much!

I know but he seems so sure of an announcement on Friday the 7th October regarding missing episodes...be interesting if he was right...

Possibly he's getting mixed up with October 2013?

Didn't watch it once I saw it was a Sammi video.

Someone quotes Sammi's source (the Facebook group) in the comments saying that whatever is happening is nothing to do with missing episodes.

A fool who seems to put a wildly fanciful interpretation onto random nonsense he reads on Twitter. Pay him no mind...

Thanks. I'm glad I didn't watch beyond the first minutes!

I hope there is some proper news soon, I have come back after a few months break to see! This hiatus year is a bit of a pain! At least with the Tennant year of specials we had something.

Steven Moffat and Brian Minchin have confirmed that Justin Chatwin is playing a superhero in the Christmas special. Capaldi also mentioned that there's an element of Reeves Superman films to it and that's it's very sweet, emotional and Christmassy.

Superhero, christmassy hopefully it isn't too magical and OTT.

Courtesy of jonahcohn (GB), some bits from the Toronto meet & greet:

Quote:
“They confirmed that the X-Mas special revolves around an American superhero played by Canadian Justin Chatwin. Capaldi said he thought it was one of Moffat's most brilliant scripts. He said it reminded him of the Christopher Reeves Superman films - "You will believe a man can fly". He said it was sweet and emotional and very Christamassy, and that it reminded him of when they show your favorite films on X-Mas Day. In this case, Superman.”

Quote:
“Otherwise, most of the hour focussed on Pearl joining the show. Moffat refused to reveal anything at all in terms of Series 10 spoilers, which was no surprise. He was asked about returning monsters - Classic & otherwise - to which he responded "yes, and yes", without giving anything away. He did say that the approach in the first episode is to serve as a square-one start, like Eleventh Hour, Rose, and Unearthly Child. If you start watching with the first ep of series 10, you will get everything you need to know - a perfect jumping-on point.”

Quote:
“Then the hosts asked Capaldi about leaving and he repeated that he has absolutely no plans to go. The audience cheered! My 'read' of the moment was that he is definitely not going anywhere. Obviously it could be a feint, but having watched him answer the question just 5 feet away from me, I would confidently put money down on Peter Capaldi starring in Series 11. Hope springs eternal...

At the end we got to meet them and shake their hands. I looked Peter right in the eye and said "Don't you go anywhere." and he winked at me and said, "Don't you worry."”

I am holding Peter to his comment when I saw him in March...asking him to stick around he said he'd see what he could do about it! Capaldi for Series 11!

On an unrelated note, it seems the trailer for Class might be landing tomorrow, if the official Twitter page is anything to go by!

I'm one of those forum member who thinks Season 10 should be Capaldi's last. A mistake, I think, if Chibnall chooses to keep him on.

Unfortunately the decisions for the show seem to be driven by groups of Doctor Who fans cheering at conventions rather than a cold hard look at the loss in viewers since Capaldi took over.

If that was down to Capaldi, he'd have been given the nod to leave, but it isn't. Loss of viewership is for many reasons, such as horrific advertising and mainly not many people watch TV anymore, it is online.

I'm sure they know their jobs better than some fan who's just not happy because the show isn't going in the direction they want. The BBC have taken a look at viewing figures and such and still seem very confident in the show, so that's good news to me.

My next question is: Will Pearl Mackie stay on?

Its a nice thought, but making a TV show is emotional work and writers/producers can too easily get cocooned in personal relationships which keeps them from making tough decisions. Some of the greatest TV shows ever made ended up being cancelled simply because necessary decisions weren't made.

I think Pearl's going to be key to what happens next, though. Clara just dragged the show down - perhaps a new companion will bring out the best in the 12th Doctor and the show.

Good, he does come across as a nice person and I'm glad he is being told to stay by the fans as with all the negative press about he could just walk away.

I still can't imagine what it's like doing a job where loads of people around you are constantly asking when you're going to leave or quit. There were people and media outlets doing it just several episodes into Series 8! I'm sure someone like Capaldi is more prepared than most to deal with questions like that without letting it bother him, but still it makes me kind of glad to hear it when actual viewers have got his back and vocally hope he'll stick around. Kind of balances it all out.
