Some interesting possibilities from the Radio Times.

http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2016-...chris-chibnall
That could work for the series. More organisation, less delays and so on.

So John Barrowman is back in Cardiff at the end of the month but won't say what for. People are already speculating he could be involved in either Class or this year's Christmas special.

I would absolutely love it if it were the latter. I'm a little gutted that we never got Jack and River in the same episode, but this would be the next best thing I think - what a last hurrah of episodes it'd be building up to for Moffat... return to Gallifrey, return of River, and return of Captain Jack all in quick succession! It'd also free up Series 10 to do more original things, if one of those comeback elements that I think quite a few people are keen to see is already taken care of by the end of the year.

Is it really bad that my first thought was "Barrowman wishes"?

Okay, probably was. I don't know. He could be back. Barrowman could also be filming something else in Cardiff at the moment, unconnected to the Who universe.

We'll know soon enough though.

I would be very happy if Captain Jack returned. A great shame he never got to meet the 11th Doctor (I won't even begin to tell you what I'm thinking of right now!)

I like Jack, I genuinely do but I guess I'm not that bothered for him to return. If there's a story for him, fair enough but the show has moved on from him.

Barrowman's great, just not so much Captain Jack. He was a very "bipolar" character in that he was either standing around trying to look all angsty and cool, or he was flirting with everything that moved while making cringey jokes. He never really offered much to the show imo, and his spin-off show wasn't exactly a compliment.

Please just bring back Bernard Cribbins as Wilf.

Isn't there an outstanding storyline about Captain Jack's missing years?

[On betting on Who casting]

No they wouldn't, they'd be out of a job faster than the Angel's can move when no one is looking at them.

And by that logic wouldn't Capaldi have been better odds to be Doctor?
The new Private Eye says

"Show bosses do not seem particularly interested in investigating how such things might happen"

I wonder who they're going to cast in the Christmas special this year...

My first choice would be Tom Hiddleston - yep, I know that is a very long shot!
My second would be Ray Winstone - another long shot.

So where is the news? Where are the spoilers? I know that the xmas episode is largely a studio episode but don't we usually have sightings of PC by now....I am getting nervous.

I'm in two minds - excited but also dreading the spoilers/information starting to come in. I found season 9 SO dull and I guess I'm worried Moffat will be doing the same sort of thing for his swansong.

Still, five things we already know/suspect about season 10 which is making me smile:
1/ Back in the Spring
2/ New companion (who seems fun)
3/ Captain Jack might be back
4/ NO CLARA
5/ Possibly a regeneration at the end!

As it's SEVEN months until the episode airs, there's no reason to air much information

Sherlock filming is taking place at the moment, so I imagine that relatively little is happening on the Doctor Who front

It's only one episode which airs at Christmas. Comparing that airdate with an autumn series that would air in, say mid-October, with 12 episodes every stage of production can start at least 12 weeks later than for a full series. It may even be later as one episode must be easier to plan, with shorter times committed to it by the production team, than a series.

Are you taking that into account when you say "we usually have sightings of PC by now"?

They've only just started shooting the second Sherlock, so full Who production is going to be a way off yet. And there's no reason to push the Christmas ep yet, it's only May!

Am guessing Pearl will be straight into filming after she leaves the play she's doing up to the end of June, so if PC starts filming a few weeks before then it backs up the idea that she won't be in the Xmas Special, which the Radio Times stated at the time of her announcement. Or certainly not the bulk of it. They could have her popping up at the end, leading into the first episode of Series 10, maybe.

I know some people avoid all spoilers and fair enough, but I do like it when stuff starts percolating through once filming is up and running. Can't be too long now....

Pearl is in this year's Christmas episode according to this website.

Interesting, but that's the only report I've seen to indicate she's in the Christmas ep. All others imply she won't be seen until the next series starts. But then, there's so little concrete evidence for any forthcoming Who that frankly anything could be happening!

Christmas always comes quicker then you think. Funny watched Heaven Sent,Hell Bent and Husbands of River Song yesterday.

Hope the 2016 Christmas special is a funny and upbeat story.
Meeting Bill would be the best present for 12.

BIB: 100% agree.

I have a feeling Bill will be in the Christmas special. Meeting a new companion is a good way to bring an upbeat feeling (which I think the show has been lacking recently) and something fresh and new for the mainstream.

I was wondering if Bill would turn out to be Martha and Mickey's daughter or a descendent of their's from the future. Moffat does like his family ties!

But I'm not sure how her lack of knowledge about the Daleks would work with that theory, although Moffat's statement that she knows 'very little' about the Doctor indicates she does know something about him.

Hopefully not Clara and Danny's love child though

So John Barrowman has been down to the Doctor Who Experience and has donned a familiar jacket again...

Peter has been spotted in Cardiff as well recently over the past few days,
Pearl isn't in the Christmas episode, i'm sure i read something about it, will look for the article.
Christmas filming should begin soon if not now, and Pearl is busy in the play, and when she finishes, filming for S10 should begin around then.

Barrowman has been spotted in Cardiff, especially by the Bay (he's met a lot of fans there)
Big Finish posted a photo of the waterfall with the Torchwood logo and some writing in red, would link it but i'm unable to as i'm at school aha

I would expect Moffat to pen one last Barrowman story, and the Christmas special would be the best time to do it imo, i'm really surprise d he never made it happen in THORS (as at the time he presumed it was his last episode)

He was in Cardiff taping a Torchwood play for Big Finish. That GDL was there is a goid thing because he brings out the best in Barrowman's voice acting.

http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/torchwo...tely-no-chill/

At this point John may be lobbying for a return to Dr Who, but I'm not entirely sure I want to see him back, unless it's an arc that builds Jack up instead of kicking him in the teeth after knocking him down.

(No, I wasn't a fan of Torchwood series 3 and 4.)

I loved Series 3 but not Miracle Day. I think it would be great for both Doctor Who and Captain Jack to show him again in a happier light. With his immense history spanning forward all the way to the Face of Boe, there's no reason we couldn't meet him in the 22nd century or the 23rd, or the 30th. It'd be a way to address his slight ageing since his previous appearance too.

I don't know why but I've really come to like the idea that he could be involved, mainly as I think it'd nicely mirror last year's bringing back of River Song for a last hurrah. I think above all else it'd also be nice to give him something better than Miracle Day to finish with, and technically as part of Series 10 it'd be nice to hark back to something stemming all the way back from Series 1. Then again, this is all my personal wishful thinking
