The animated version's so bad it's funny. What does it even achieve?

Oh good so its not just me who thought that animated version poster promo thing was laughably bad... I'm really starting to question the quality of the production on DW, everything so far from the Xmas ep looks (at least to my eyes) so cheap and poorly done, and that follows into the promotion...

I'm really psyched up for the Christmas special. And I'm not being funny or sarcastic! I thought the animated poster looked fantastic and if Justin Chatwin's character name is Grant, then it's obviously a nod to Grant Gustin (TV's The Flash).

Really looking forward to seeing it on the 27th! Yes I know, don't tell me...

I thought the promo was fine, for what it was - an animated poster on a website.

We'll see how the publicity machine goes when it ramps up over the next few weeks before Christmas.

Fingers crossed it's better than "Same ole, same ole". It's difficult to imagine something worse!

Interesting, ta. I'd seen photos on the BBC America twitter timeline (which seems to be more revealing than the UK's) of the Doctor holding a baby, then talking to a young boy, then a young man so I'd kind of figured how it was going to go to a certain extent.

The link in the article as to who the villains of the piece are sounds highly likely and will probably tie in to why Nardole has been sorted out after how he was left in 'Husbands....'!

I think the concept of the story certainly has some potential.

So is Matt Lucas going to be a regular companion in series 10?

More recurring than regular I think but we don't know for sure.

After Barrowman's recent outbursts towards Moffat I doubted whether or not Jack would appear again, but whose to say it isn't all water under the bridge and everything is fine?

I wished a few years ago (and repeatedly ever since) that whenever Moffat left Doctor Who, he'd go with a big timey-wimey angels story that could incorporate a lot of his signature characters. It remains wishful thinking right now, but I'm going to convince myself that this is actually what we're getting. The mysterious 'arrival' referred to in Class turns out to be the story arc for Series 10 of Doctor Who, with the angels having a big plot at the end of the series. Said story could also see the return of Captain Jack in some capacity (these small hints might amount to nothing, but again I'll convince myself otherwise), it could see the cast of Class crossover into the main show in some capacity (there was that unresolved speculation that Fady Elsayed was to appear in Series 10, he also posted a picture of himself with a Tardis today funnily enough), you could involve Missy somewhere along the line, then Osgood/Kate, maybe even make use of the Doctor's daughter wildcard. An assemblage of characters, a little like Series 4, but not necessarily aiming to get them all into the same room so much as having the Doctor make use of his various connections to overcome a massive threat.

If it were anything to do with who, then given Moffat and Barrowman's current seemingly strained relationship, and the fact that series 10 would have been cast already, I'd guess it would be meetings to return in the Chibnall era.

Rule 1 Moffat lies - it is Moffat's job to keep the Doctor Who ball in the air. To have column inches dedicated to it, to market the show. With a year out it was important for the production team to keep the show in the press. What better way than an orchestrated spat between a diva and a 2nd rate writer?

Doubt it was orchestrated, unless JB was okay with coming over as a bit of a div.

Caught an entertaining youtube video of Sir Peter Davison giving the whole 'Five-ish Doctors' story the other day, and he'd heard on the Whovine (he's well connected!) that JB was really peed off that he hadn't been asked to appear in the 50th. (so Peter thought "aha!" and got in touch. JB agreed to appear as long as they provided a big car for him...which we see him driving with Peter, Colin and Sylvester!)

I find it highly likely that this is what's behind JB's attitude to SM!

And if you look closely at the photo of the 'surgeon' holding the girl in the red dress whilst a bespectacled chap looks on in the RT link that Shawn posted above, I'd say it's got to be 'them'!

I genuinely think Barrowman's days on Doctor Who are done. Any chance he had of reappearing probably got shot in the foot with his recent comments. If he's lucky, maybe Torchwood will get revived at some point but as for the main show, it's moved on from Jack and I'm not even sure Chibnall will bother bringing him back either. Right now, I don't feel the show actually needs Jack back. We do need a male companion and I sure as hell don't mean Nardole though.
