On the strength of this I watched the trailer and although I can't really tell whether she is a bad actress, I do think Walt Disney might have a clunker on their hands. The 'Beast' is completely ludicrous and wholly unfrightening (unless you are under seven).

She's a young woman finding her voice and her activism and calling out what she sees as bad behaviour- that's been the definition of being a Difficult Woman for millennia. I'd be more surprised if there weren't people saying that kind of stuff about her.

As for Beauty and the Beast - is it supposed to be scary? It's based on the animation and has singing - also you can't sell Beast stuffed toys if he looks scary to little kids.

I would have agreed with you had the people who were (allegedly) finding her hard to deal not included the likes of Gandalf and Nanny McPhee- neither strike me as actors who would disapprove of activism! Having said that it was just an Internet rumour and could be total rubbish

I agree. Just because she is a feminist activist doesn't mean she can't also be not a nice person to work with. I've heard rumours about her on the set of her massive franchise and that Ron and Harry don't speak to her.

But then again, the stories did start coming out when she started being an activist and pulling g Hollywood establishment up on its practices, so who knows...

Could be. She doesn't need the money, so could easily have told some exec to shove his casting couch where the sun don't shine and has ended up with loads of rumours all of a sudden.

Most of the rumours I've heard come from extras and crew.
