Is he really a permanent A lister though? Boogie Nights apart the hits dried up 30 years ago.
I would say he is permanent A list through name recognition.

From CDAN:

This former A+ list mostly television actor who hit it really big once and big a second time, crashed and burned this past year. No worries. Overseas where his name is still A list because they like those 80's fashions, he picks up obscene amounts of money to say a few lines in a foreign movie. Oh, and he gets his pick of the actresses.

I was going to say the guy who used to be a Rider at Knightime who Hoff The Record had two big TV hits but it doesn't fit in with the pick of the actresses line as he is settled down with his British girlfriend.

Big hit: Miami Vice, hit: Nash Bridges, flop: Blood & Oil.

Good guess, but does the bit about saying a few lines in foreign movies really fit him?

He was at one point the biggest star on the planet, but now this permanent A+ list mostly movie actor is trying to stay alive long enough to shoot what will be his last movie.
Apart from the names already suggested, The Sundance Kid springs to mind.

From The Gossip Life:

2016 has yet to have a huge box office bomb but according to a source that is soon about to change. It's a summertime SFX-fest with little actual story (and dreadful test reviews) and, subject to change, as of right now one of the largest marketing budgets ever. It'll likely cost a few hundred jobs with the stink it will make. It may even claim a couple of high level scalps. Similar to John Carter in impact.

Gods of Egypt, and Independence Day: Resurgence and Ghostbusters seem to be the big effects films of the summer and Ghostbusters has some pretty negative comments about the trailer.

Never thought of that - mainly because I thought the trailers were for a game not a movie.

I'd go for the Ghostly bunch with the comment about high level scalps. I thought I'd read previously of the head of the studio being behind the project in a big way from the start?

Maybe but I'd be surprised if it was bad. The director has a reputation for making bad trailers but the film actually being fine.

"Gods of Egypt" has already been and gone in the US (it was an Easter film) so unlikely to be that & its $140M budget isn't regarded as massive. You need to be looking at around +$200M

July/August movies are "BFG", "Tarzan", "Ghostbusters", "Star Trek" , "Suicide Squad" , "Independence Day" & "Ben Hur"

It's probably Ghostbusters, but could easily be Star Trek Beyond or Independence Day: Resurgence.

Public response to the initial Star Trek Beyond teaser was terrible. Not hearing that much buzz about ID4.

I mentioned a few weeks ago a biography that alleged an affair by a VIP's wife. Well having just checked the book that isn't quite true. What the book does is (strangely) pour scorn on the rumour that the author admitted had been mentioned to them by plenty of sources. Now if you think the rumour is bunkum wouldn't it be better to leave it alone?

It surely has to be Ghostbusters? The film nobody asked for, and nobody likes the look of so far. The studio are backing it 100% and seem to be spending a lot of time and money recently doing damage control, since the initial reaction has been so hostile.

This beloved 70's and 80's star worked in some movies in the 90's and still has A+ list name recognition and some popular offspring. The reason she stopped working in movies was not retirement so much as no directors ever wanted to work with her if she was cast because she always had final cut in her movies during the 90's and so expect for one or two of them they all ended up being bombs.
