From The Gossip Life:

If you think what James Bond has been offered is a lot, you should hear the offer sent out to this A-list director by a studio in order to entice him to their A-list franchise. "It's a stunning offer," says my source, a studio scrooge. "It could cause problems going forward if it was leaked, especially on the negotiating front."

CLUE: Our director has scored Oscar nominations/wins in the past.

I can see why the Clue is included otherwise most people would automatically guess that it's the Lost director. But he has no Academy track record.

I'm guessing that it's an action movie franchise. I'm also going to guess that clues about this has been in the showbiz news already. Will have to come back after some research!!

Edit: Back already! The Titanic director for the Avatar franchise. Four new movies planned and the franchise has more potential than Star Wars in Asia.

Double edit: Can't be him as he wouldn't need enticing would he? It's effectively his franchise. Back to the drawing board.

That could be a decent call. And he needs the money from what I hear!

Inception for Bond is my guess, or perhaps back to the DC world.

Checked him out. One problem. No Oscar wins! What about Pulp Fiction being hired for Bond? Can't see it being ET. Has his own franchises and studio to oversee. Could the Star Wars guy be tempted out of retirement to do something else?

Edit: It's the Abrams effect. Every super franchise owner believes that tgey need a superstar director, at least to reboot the franchise and then to oversee the sequels in a super producer role.

You see, this particular piece of casting news is intended to be a spit-take-worthy shock to end all spit-take-worthy shocks. According to sources, a returning series on one of the Big 5 networks is getting ready to pull off what will likely go down as one of the coolest, most surprising casting stunts of the year. The onscreen twist — which was shot earlier this month under a Star Wars-level veil of secrecy — is set to air during the show’s season premiere. Prediction: The show — and [spoiler]’s name — will be trending on Twitter before the closing credits roll.”

I don't know why people keep suggesting a character returning to a show - nothing in the blind suggests it.

The blind says it's going to be one of coolest casting stunts ever. With the "star wars" secrecy bit, I am going to predict a former carpenter and bounty hunter. Possibly in his wife's superhero show?

You mean the smuggler!! Possible! I just hope the actual stunt doesn't turn out to be a relatively damp squib.

James Bond is the clue.

American Beauty.....An Oscar winner and directed the first $1 billion dollar Bond Movie with a massive and positive critical response.......something DC movies sorely need.

That would be amazing, and as much as I personally enjoy the show it needs a ratings boost.

It says nominations/wins. I took that to mean either.

Doesn't CDAN normally distinguish if it's one or the other though - Oscar winner or Oscar nominee. I assumed both. We should hear who this one is soon though.

From CDAN:

Old Hollywood Blind item:

Even though this Oscar host was nominated for a handful of Academy Awards she was more known for an iconic television role. She was a trailblazer in hosting but got into an epic fight with her co-host during the show which continued throughout the night every time they were offstage. It took almost a decade before another female was given a chance to host because of course they blamed it on her.

I googled my way through this one. It was Endora the witch. One of the great TV characters. Thinking about it, surely the inspiration for Star Trek's Q as well!
http://bewitched.wikia.com/wiki/Endora

Fought with the first Philip Marlowe.

Next host, It Happened One Night Oscar winner.

Sorry for the editing...

Actually, that may just fit. Ally McBeal has been downgraded to recurring on the show, at her own request due to the show moving production location to Vancouver, and I'd expect that they'll manage her absences by writing some kind of plotline that justifies taking her character away from the main location, whilst removing her from the job which keeps her character front and centre. Giving her a romantic storyline of a charming man sweeping her off her feet would be pretty decent, and if it's her real life love interest, that just makes it even more fun. After all, they wrote in Supergirl's own husband into a minor role last year, so they've got form for this kind of stunt. Plus, they need the boost to make the move to the CW a good decision - it will certainly draw viewers in, who may have passed on the first season, and might entice them to stay around for a while longer once they watch.

I'm wondering now if the Star Wars secrecy statement was a clue after all like what some people on here first thought!

Indiana Jones on the CW will never happen. This is an actor who thinks Han Solo one of the most loved characters in modern movies is beneath him and he only returned as long as he got a new Indy film out of it.

I think being offered 25 million up front plus 0.5 percent share of the films gross earnings would tempt anyone. He always disliked the fact that the smuggler only existed to service the main character.

He may often appear to be a graduate of the Connery School of Charm but he sometimes shows a sly wit in real life, which 007 never did. I hope this happens not least because I cannot quit the show, despite trying.

I think he sneakily quite liked his role. I'm from the school that believes that he couldn't have been so relaxed in it if he didn't think it was fun (even if a bit corny!). But I would be very surprised if it was him.

Had a look at TV Line comments. One recent poster says it's Stabler on SVU. The showrunner leaked it apparently and others picked up on it, so...

Hope that's not it as it seems a bit low key. It's not a show I've ever watched regularly.

From The Gossip Life:

This A-list actress is gearing up projects for a potential Oscar win in the next couple of years. She's had a long, varied career but the Academy Awards have always eluded her. She wants it badly. She's investing her own money in projects and using her star power to secure an ensemble cast.
