They've tried it in the past and the public always go for the safe, bland middle of the road singers in the end, so.

Unfortunately I feel that you are right, as has been shown with the last few winners of The Voice as well.

The show doesn't like genres of Music, it doesn't even like Pop Music because like all genres of Music the singers can't necessarily mold into the more alternative genres of Music, like how the alternative acts can't mold into a Pop singer.

The X Factor just cares about shouting, if you shout you've got it made on the show, if you're an actual singer of any kind then the show will brand you boring and dismiss you as a weak vocalist for not shouting.

But yes I think it's important to have a diverse set of Music on a singing show to make it interesting to watch, the same type of singers in the same year gets a bit tedious I think.

Also genre is possibly the most important thing on a singing show as you've got to like the Music that the act is singing.
