I have a couple of decent Wharfdale speakers which I would like to make use of in my Sky+HD and flat screen TV setup. TV speakers are, of course, naff as they all are these days.

So, I was thinking of just connecting the Sky box and TV to an Amp. Would that work and would the amp have to be hideously expensive? Also the speakers are post and wire connectors, so something to be born in mind I suppose.

Ones with an optical which would be connected to the TV I can see here are

though is £250

Seen some AV ones though might not be as good

will be fine though if only being use to listen to TV.

Would personally go for an AV Receiver, the Pioneer posted above is a good make and will be a vast improvement over your TV speakers, it's also pretty good value at £129.95.

An AV receiver will better cater for future changes, you can easily feed other devices through it that you may want to add, such as a Blu-ray/DVD player, Playstation/XBox, etc. You can also add extra speakers if you want to make to into a surround sound system, but it will work perfectly well with just stereo speakers.

I will certainly look at these options over the next few days. Thanks.
