Jamala was awful, my least favourite of the Final. Hopefully there will be some more just results in DSFE... I have a good running order for the semis

Everyone in the other thread suffering from Post-Eurovision Depression - this is the ultimate cure. Hopefully we'll get the annual bounce when 78 starts

Last week was just what I needed to get back into this - I'd been in a bit of a rut. Tonight, for the first time in my DSFE history, I will do a little dig for entries when it's not selection time. As well as hopefully some more players from the post-Eurovision bounce, 78 will see a newly determined yoshi. Bring it on

![]() ![]() I'm too busy to look for entries now. But, there's a couple of songs I found that I want to enter, even if one of them screams last place in QF. So, hopefully we get another picks contest soon. |

Who knows what will be in the next contest - picks or random. We haven't had random for a while to be honest. Before that decision can be made, we need to crown a winner in this contest so get reviewing and voting, carefully

Short reviews since I don't have much time.
![]() Belarus: Not keen on the way she says "woman" but the song's pretty good - very Eurovision sounding. Liechtenstein: Not necessarily fun but it's catchy - loving this. She has one of those voices I love too, very good overall. Switzerland: This has really grown on me, the chorus in particular is fun, catchy and anthemic. Another good entry. New Zealand: Not doing much for me, it's decent but I find the chorus quite irritating. It builds up to a lot but it doesn't ever deliver. Austria: Love this - a powerful chorus with an amazing singer. Gotland: Also not doing much for me, I'm too interested in the video to listen to the song which I find quite mediocre. Guernsey: No thank you. Algeria: A very nice find for Algeria, I'm naturally loving this because it's French. This is quite different for me, and in a good way. Scotland: Another very good one here, an explosive chorus with a good singer (who really sounds like Jessie J) makes for a great pop song, something that'll always go down well with me. Germany: Definitely a song of two halves, although I'm loving both of them, the chorus is explosive and on the right side of modern. Iran: Bored of this. It's okay, she sings pretty well, but I'm not all that bothered by it. I'm undecided on whether the "lie-ie-ie-ie-ie-ie" annoys me or is the best bit of the song. Tasmania: Typical indie-rock fare here, will probably grow on me if it gets to the final but I'm not convinced. Not bad. Azores: I'm liking this, not sure if seductive is the way to describe it but there's this sultry quality to it I'm really liking. Classy, and not your usual Portuguese entry. Netherlands: This is growing on me, the chorus is pretty good, even if the verses are messy. Not loving it but I'm certainly not hating it. Aland Islands: This is so subtly anthemic, I don't know what it is about this that I love but it's just so brilliant. Malta: Another strong one, I prefer this to her previous entry. The chorus is catchy and I love songs with this sort of theme and idea if it's executed right. Bulgaria: I've over-listened to this and now I'm bored of it. It's still Mihaela Marinova so love for that but it's not as good as her previous entry. Croatia: Good entry for Croatia but I'm finding it quite average and plain really. He sings really well though, so that's a plus. Turkey: German ballads. <3 I'm really enjoying this - an excellent find in a similar vein to Aland Islands for me. Very good. Ukraine: A good find for Ukraine but the chorus is lacking anything to help it stand out in this strong semi final. It's not bad though. Belgium: This has nothing on her last two entries which were very good. That said, this isn't bad, even if the video is ridiculously cheap compared to her last two videos. Svalbard: This is on the right side of modern like Germany, but a lot better. A very nice, strong entry that I'm really enjoying. What a strong semi final! No way am I making it.

I'd personally love a contest with ROTW again - I've stockpiled some Canadian, Korean, Japanese, Cuban, and Mexican entries that I've been DYING to use.
...says the host that very easily could have made this an ROTW contest

And SF2.
![]() Spain: Harmless, fun, catchy, I'm glad this qualified and shut up the haters. I like this a lot. Azerbaijan: Average. Northern Ireland: This is a very good find for Northern Ireland, I'm really enjoying this. Very similar to the previous winner but a lot better. Poland: Strong pop song, always gonna go down well with me. She's a very good singer as well, I'm liking this. Gibraltar: Nowhere near as good as Foxes' previous songs but it's still Foxes and this has grown on me. Pretty good, catchy and fun. Slovakia: People are saying this is average? To me it's anything but - powerful, explosive chorus, strong singer, I'm loving this. Lebanon: This needs more animals if it's going to get points on the cute video scale. France: Probably the favourite to win, a very strong albeit predictable entry that I really love. It does sound very Sia in a good way. Sweden: Another strong entry with a strong singer. Sounds like it would be a huge hit if the singer was more well known, loving it. Kaliningrad: In a semi of rather strong entries, this falls behind. Rather average. Also, I think Vintage is the artist, not the song title. ![]() England: Not feeling this at all, as I've said before, he's trying way too hard to be Coldplay and it doesn't even work. Australia: Needed to turn up the volume, but when I did, it's a pleasant surprise. A very good, powerful song with an exceptional singer. Ireland: Not great, it's a bit generic and she's quite a weak singer. North Africa: This is nice, but it's not doing much for me. Shetland Islands: This video is basically Brightside in Scotland but I'm loving the song. I prefer this to her last entry, very good. Latvia: RAIGN is always very hit or miss with me and this is a bit of a miss I'm afraid, not doing much for me. Estonia: This is so cute, I'm surprised it made it but I always have a soft spot for stuff like this. I really like it. Italy: This is really something special - powerful, unique with an amazing singer. Really enjoying this. Denmark: Another very strong entry, I'm surprised he hasn't been entered before as I'd assumed he'd won for some reason - enjoying this. San Marino: A nice upbeat party song which is catchy but in the end not doinh all that much for me. Norway: Another entry that's not doing much for me, it's not bad but sounds quite pretentious in all honesty. Czechia: Unique voice, I'm enjoying this. The chorus is a little bit of a disappointment compared to the powerful verses but it's still a good entry. Not as strong as the first SF but still strong. I've got no hope. ![]() I'd love to see a ROTW round after flopping with the only ever Liberian entry. I've got some more African entries stocked.

That's because she wrote it, and everything she writes sounds like her. And it's always good when something sounds like Sia, imo

I hope the rest of my DSFE friends are as happy about Jamala winning as I am!!
I knew she was destined to great things back when Kvn entered You're Made Of Love all the way back in Manchester, my debut contest 4 years ago now! QUEEN JAMALA. Seeing her sing live was amazing enough in itself, seeing her win was and probably always will be my favourite Eurovision moment ever, I still can't believe Saturday actually happened. ![]() Do the right thing Ukraine, open next year's final with this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvYrAm4SVxM PS Joel Adams was randomly singing on the street in Stockholm, I have absolutely no idea what he was doing there, but maybe we might see him for Australia next year? |
