OMG poor Carlisle
![]() I should have given points to San Marino. I realized I haven't after I sent out my votes already. 12 - Czech Republic 7 - Estonia 1 - Lebanon Both my 12 points are gone in the semis again. These contests are cruel. ![]() On the other hand, I qualified after having 3 failures in the QF. Thanks for the votes! <3 |

Justin is supposed to be opening the final tonight but I haven't seen him and I think he might have had another interview for a job so might be delayed getting back. I've done the final order so I can do the recap and if he isn't on shortly, I'll open the final. However, please note (this is a plea to those who ignore instructions
) you will be sending your votes to him and not me, although it might not be a bad idea to copy me in just in case? (Still having nightmares about the floods and powecuts )

Lol.
Anyway I'm only really bothered about the fact that it's "too late to disqualify" a song that has ZERO links to a country whatsoever - and the fact that last time I mentioned a song having no heritage links it was still allowed too. Will be very interested to see who the forum member is behind that Scottish song. (Granted I'm not the BEST person to mention it considering I sent a Swede for Germany but in fairness I found the guy on Warner Music Germany )

Ok where to tonight? Somewhere a bit less demoralising than Bosnia
Ideas? Also I should've gone for the Scottish song last time when I had Gibraltar and my trilemma. I will be SO hacked off if it wins

@Carlisle: What do you expect to happen? An entry can't exactly be disqualified and changed when people have started voting. Sometimes this sort of thing happens but there's not much that can be done if it's too late.
I'm saying this as somebody who has been in the situation of realising an entry is ineligible after sending it - it's most likely just an honest mistake. @Yoshi: I don't think Scotland will be winning - there may be riots if it does. How about Poland?

Scotland
Okay. The final recap is now saving so I can now post about the Scotland issue.
Firstly, I wasn't checking the entries and approving them as I was doing the recap stuff, but when entries came in and I thought there was something amiss, I did say to Justin can you check that. I saw the Scottish entry come in and I knew that it was a Swedish band with a British singer and thought nothing more. The FM had them in a Scottish playlist for quite a while as they had found an article linking them. Justin also looked saw something on google and approved it. Since the queries on the eligibility, neither Justin or the FM can find the said article explaining ancestry to Scotland. Since we were well into the contest, we didn't feel we could disqualify the entry as both the host and FM stated that whilst they couldn't find the article now, that they believed it to be ok. Also, once a contest has started it is a bit unfair to accept an entry and then disqualify it, so I hope people understand the dilemma. Justin and I discussed it and asked the FM to keep looking for the article, but as we all know with these things, sometimes it just is not possible once something has been removed from the internet. My personal feelings on this are that the time for questioning ancestry etc is before the QFs start. Once that period is over, it is too late to do anything about it. I leave it up to yourselves to decide on the Scottish entry and I leave it up to future hosts to decide on this artist's eligibility... The entry stands! Edit: I am not in the best of moods with crap at work and have a shed load of stuff to do tonight. It is up to individuals to decide how they feel about it. The next person who wants me to make decisions on this issue may just receive a very tight squeeze on their gonads! ![]()

Yeah! I like the 'Scottish' song though so...
I think as you've already seen some proof it would be wrong to disqualify it. But, maybe I'm just being harsh, if there was a situation where the ancestry couldn't be proved then I'd disqualify it no matter what stage in the competition. I'm mean. Then again, like you say, people will make their own minds up anyway. |

Sounds fair enough - an honest mistake. I'm surprised it made the final (as much as I love the song) and I'm not expecting it to do all that well but I hope this doesn't have too much of an affect on the result for the forum member.
