Unlike two years ago, when thousands queued round the block at the Sage Gateshead to show off their singing talent, there was no need for crowd barriers at Newcastle’s St James’ Park, with fewer than 100 people through the doors in the first hour."

Is the talent pool depleted or is this a sign of general disinterest in the show?

what's the surprise when nearly all the acts are scouted and go directly to the judges auditions? there's no point in going to preliminary auditions and people have started learning this.

Or they saw what happened to Louisa Johnson, ridiculed in the press and humiliated. Maybe they don't see it as a great prize anymore

Don't forget the duet that poor Ben Haenow was forced to do last year.

this happened last year to start with not a lot of people turned up then later people started showing up

Still not a good sign though for a show that is constantly in the press

It had thousands in London last week, just media doesn't like reporting on the shows success anymore

I liked Steve but he really is showing that he hasn't gotten over the X; he's like a dog with a bone. Time to move on Steve!
