Yet another price increase from BT before it's even hit 12 months.

I wondered why they had rang me the other day asking did I wish to sign up for another year , I still have a few months left yet.

I politely declined , time to move on.

I only just renewed all my contracts back in February and got a £7.50 discount on Infinity 2 and £2.50 a month off BT TV Entertanment Max package.
We are also on the evening and weekend call package as anytime calls would be a waste of money for us having.
This is the first I have hard about a BT prise rise in July but I knew they would be putting the prices up at some point this year.
It's BT line rental that's now very dear and it's nearly 6 times the cost of the calls we make when we get our e bill every 3 months. For we are lucky if we make £5 worth of calls every 3 months. Last bill a few weeks ago we only made just under £4 worth of calls in the last 3 months 4 of the calls was part of he free evening and weekend call package.

That's odd as I spoke to a BT rep earlier in the week and they said they had no price rises coming up.

Luckily I didn't sign up for another year.

They're overpriced and the customer service is terrible anyway.

The other telecom companies will all follow suit and raise their charges in line with BT.

The so-called 'regulator' will play dead as usual.

Virgin Phone Line Rental will also be £19 a month from around July time
No one wins in regards to the line rental as they all charge the same price

I know what you mean about line rental, I'm paying nearly £30 for Infinity 2 I think this is too much I get 50meg for this amount may not be BT's fault that I get this speed distance from the cabinet & all that but we have cable here now, I'm waiting to hear from BT email or letter about the price increases in July, Ofcom rules are you can leave if they do that even if you are in contract so I'm going asap.

8 times out of 10 in the last short while I have been using my mobile a little more if I ever need to make a call. Even then theres at lest 2 days a week I don't use my mobile to make calls.
For I'm not in much during a week day as I'm at work and dad don't make much phone calls using the landline anymore as hes now 10%/12% deaf and in his early 80s.

Broadband going up £2.50 , line rental up by £1 and an extra pound for bt sport.

Still under contract till November so stuck with this. It is getting ridiculous that companies like BT and Sky can force changes onto people under contract.

It happens every year...perhaps people should take their own responsibility and read the t&c they sign up for....at least it is only a 12 month contract with those companies, and not 18 months like others.

Indeed. If you are on standard broadband the offer I was told by them that they are offering customers is £5 per month so a good saving to be made.

This is second price rise in under 12 months though, first was about October 2015 and now another in July 2016 that isn't a year difference.

You can leave your contract does not matter Ofcom's rules wait till you get a letter or email from BT.

Downgrade to Infinity 1 as that now has up to 50MB speed they same as you get now,
I think you can get Infinity 1 without a Cap but it is more costly but worth it if you use the Internet a lot

If you want faster than 50MB go to Virgin you will not be disappointed

Just don't accept it people. Be very unBritish and indeed unIrish too for a change.
Tell them politely to stuff their price hike if there is no massive service upgrade like 50mb more broadband speed or 10 more tv channels.

That's what I do and my bills have been static since 2012.

Is it? My prices are unchanged since last July, apart from line rental and some of the landline call charges (the latter not affecting me as I use my mobile contract). I can't check line rental from this July because I am on an annual Line Rental Saver, has monthly rental gone up again?

What about a 24% special offer discount to existing customers (me!), and a free BT Cloud storage upgrade from 50GB to 500GB effective on the price rise date? OK that's only an 18% discount when you factor in the price rise but still... when added to Sky TV's instant 50% discount offer (43% after the price rise) after I just cancelled, the savings are significant.

So yeah, people need to box clever, and I'm sure that some will do even better than that but it's OK for me.

Incidentally, as an aside, BT Cloud in your browser provides a good test of your true d/l and upload speeds, better even than Speedtest.net - though individual downloads are limited to 21Mbps, you can do 4 at a time totalling in my case 75.2Mbps. And with 2 uploads running, 17.8Mbps. Well worth it on Inf. 2.

Yes it does and yes you can. I am also in contract so here's the bit from my standard email:

And if you're within your minimum term and want to cancel, you'll need to give us a call within 30 days of getting this email to avoid paying a charge for leaving early.
But even if you can't find that bit in the email, you still can leave, so if you wanna leave, just do it!

If you read it all carefully, you might even discover one or two extra benefits that you like (I did) or a link to some "personalised offer for you" as they tend to put it. I did.

I'm the same i use my mobile for calls got a good deal from ID Mobile, regarding BT prices they did rise in October i joined in August 2015 and my package cost went up in October, i recently recontracted and credit where credit is due BT kept me on my offer of £10 for infinity1 until August this year which is when it would of ended if i hadn't recontracted anyway.
TV price rise won't affect me as got rid of BT TV i cancelled when they lost FOX so looking at the price rise it'll work out about £3.50p/m more for me which isn't as bad as i thought it was, no doubt other providers will follow suite in time.
BT line rental is going up to £18.99p/m i believe.

No BT won't tell you that you can leave they woudn't would they? When I get the email I'll call them to say I'm going with Cable for 100meg speed for £13 a month at the moment I'm paying £29.95 for BT Infinity 2 soon to be £32,50 a month & We have BT TV that go go as well I'll find the Ofcom rules & paste them here http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ look at the small print you can leave without penalty but after 30 day's you can't.

They do tell you, I quoted the relevant part of the email above. You do have to actually read the email though, to see it at the start of the section "Here's how the price changes affect you".

It's Sky who make it hard or impossible to escape your contract without penalty when they put up prices, not BT.
