BT price increase 3rd July 2016

When I took a contract out with BT they were a nightmare, delaying, cancelling , made mistakes in the bill
Now I'm leaving them they are equally difficult
Charging me for leaving, till I pointed out if it is because of a price rise, there is no chardpge,
Then they were going to charge me £55 for the equipment, till another advisor said that if I returned it, they couldn't charge me
It appears BT likes to instil the fear factor in their customers, but you have to fight back!

I have yet to get an email from BT.
I'm already on a sort of monthly discount for my Infinity 2 and BT TV entertainment max package so I don't know what else they could offer me.
I have been on Infinity since early 2011.
Me too, they've offered me a similar discount to last year when I recontracted i.e. about 24% off Infinity 2... but I don't like it as it's for 18 months. Think I will hold out for a 12 month contract to tie in with my BT TV, which expires in July. If they won't budge, or up it to 30%, I will just cancel BT TV and maybe downgrade to Infinity 1.

My offer at the my offer link that someone posted is also for 18 months for Infinity 2 and I don't facy signing up for 18 months as my BT TV is only 12 months and the offer is only just over a £1 less than it's costing me the now after the the price rise in July as I'm already on a discount for my Infinity 2 as I have said above.
BT could have done better with there offers.

I didn't get the email either, possibly because I have only just re contracted to obtain the 52mbps on Infinity 1. However my dad has had the email and I have clicked on the link in HIS email and logged into my account and sure enough, I have 3 offers available!

I only renewed all my BT contracts at the start of Feb and was given a discount then on my Infinity 2 plus BT TV.

I think that is the reason I didn't get the email either, as I had re contracted a few weeks ago to get 52mbps speed increase on my Infinity 1

My offer equated to £4 a month discount for 18 months for extending my Infinity 2 contract by 18 months. I was already out of contract for Broadband, but still had a week or so to go on BT TV which, from what I can see, is treated separately from this renewal.

So after the slight saving from the BT TV Entertainment price DECREASE for me, overall the new deal is only 85p a month more than at present, effectively cancelling out the upcoming price increase I would have been subjected to.

I was considering downgrading to BT Infinity 1 and saving £1.65 over what I pay at present, but for halving my upload speed, reducing my download by 10Mbps and a smaller cloud size it would probably have been a false economy (OK It would have only have been a 12 month contract).

Don't particularly want to move elsewhere as I like BT TV and have no grumbles otherwise.

It's also worth remembering that any new contracts you agree to can be terminated by yourself if they change anything detrimental to you!

I've now got unlimited infinity 1 for £10 a month for another year, not bad since I've recently switched to BTTV as well so will need it.

I've been looking back over all the email I've had from BT for the last 6 years, I'm wondering why they had a 40GB a month limit for so long ? It's still the same street cabinet that was installed 3 years ago !

Got my speed upgrade today after recontracting.

Only gone from 37mb to 48mb, so really glad I didn't go for Infinity 2.

Been offered infinity 2 at £22 a month. Looked about and I don't think I can find anything for this speed much cheaper so I may end up staying

I'm leaving BT next week for Cable I have just done a speed test over the last few days & what do you know my speed has dropped from 50meg to 40meg I wonder why??, I wasn't going to pay £32.50 for 50meg from July & yes I could have dropped to Infinity 1 for something like a tenner a month but I will be paying £13 a month for 12 months for 100meg BT can't give you that speed BT always think about their shareholders before customers.

Trouble is if you are in a highly congested area, and during peak times it's unlikely VM will give you anywhere near those speeds either.

The offers I've had from the link in the email have now changed twice. Initially, after getting "Sorry a technical error has occurred" I got an opening offer of £32 for Infinity 2 plus unlimited anytme calls. A few days later, that had gone and I was getting Infinity 2 only for £22 a month. I've just checked again and now it's Infinity 2 only for £28.50 a month.

I'm not out of contract until July so I'll wait until nearer the price rise deadline and see what happens - maybe it's like a game of poker to see who holds their nerve longest....

This one has me a bit puzzled too. I was getting the previous max speed with Infinity 1 - I can see the exchange from our lounge window. According to stats I am 402 yards from exchange. Both PCPs are brand new, exchange is far from congested, I am using Cat 5 cable with Mk3 faceplate. Speed has only gone up to 45 mbps - puzzled.

Heavy crosstalk from other lines causing speeds to drop? Not unheard of, and until or unless BT switches on vectoring, it's not going to be fixed. It seems that BT is just going to go for G.fast instead (which will include vectoring)

Obviously there is one access technology that is totally immune to these stupid problems

I mean both - exchange and PCPs. Where I live we were on exchange only lines with our own dedicated small exchange. With going to fibre the equipment cannot be located in the same exchange due to interference so new PCPs installed remote from the exchange. Must have cost a bob or two but paid for by BDuk.

We are very un-congested, only a few hundred lines. Mind you the main data cable has been fed along ducts from a main exchange around 7 miles away.

Availed of the offer of Infinity 2 for £28.50 (a bit less than what I pay now, and £4 less than the increasing price) a month after renewing for 18 months.

Now I'm hoping there will be an offer on the UHD TV subscription this summer as I'm planning on upgrading my television set around the same time. At the moment I'm not able to order UHD online, only over the phone, but I occasionally get mailings about the service from BT so presumably my line is fast enough for it. There's no UHD offers at the moment anyway, and if they tell me I can't have it, it's no big deal. I'm very happy with my Entertainment Max subscription anyway and if/when I buy a new TV, I'll hopefully still be able to watch 4K content on Netflix and Amazon.

My offer is 18 pounds ul infinity 1 but 24 month contract or inf 2 at 22.50 12 month contract.
However bt estimate my speed highest at 46 so inf 2 looks a waste.

£24.50 a month for 24 months contract for my Infinity 2.

24 months? It's an insult, pathetic, and if anything would make me more liable to cut and run than re-contract. Idiots, they know where they can stick THAT one, right up their ar<self-censored>...

I never did get an email from BT about the price rise but I would not be taking and BT offer from there link as its 18 months and its not saving me that much on Infinity 2 that I'm on the now as I already get a discount even if price is going up a little bit.

No idea, my offer was £28 for Infinity 2 and anytime calls for 18 months, which represents a saving of 40p, did phone to see if I could get anything better...but couldn't so will keep mu current package and see if they offer anything when my contract expires in December.

Checked other providers as well, and with the exception of SSE all very similar prices to BT so not worth moving, especially considering that for me BT has been very reliable.

Leaving for plusnet - got a letter from bt saying just my phone was moving - ya still gonna pay £32.50pm sucker!

So had to call them up - Irish chap who sounded like tommy (brad Pitt) in snatch hard sold me a new deal - didnt really understand what he was saying but his email said

12 month contract
£17.50pm fibre 2
£19pm line rental

Plusnet is £20pm
£15-£16pm line rental (with saver)

Not really a saving - BT seem like they don't know what they're doing in terms of budgeting. - perhaps they've realised everyone hates Michael Owen and the champs league is a bit boring!

What would be refreshing is a company takes new customer offers, current customers and retentions deals - put them together, find and average and just charge that regardless with yearly sainsburys coupons or something as a gesture of goodwill

Keep it simple vs having to phone up begging to leave and scraping for coinage. I just find it all too confusing with too much effort involved - dont really care about retention deals, just want a simple straightforward reasonable priced service with no shocks
