Leaving for plusnet - got a letter from bt saying just my phone was moving - ya still gonna pay £32.50pm sucker!
So had to call them up - Irish chap who sounded like tommy (brad Pitt) in snatch hard sold me a new deal - didnt really understand what he was saying but his email said 12 month contract £17.50pm fibre 2 £19pm line rental Plusnet is £20pm £15-£16pm line rental (with saver) Not really a saving - BT seem like they don't know what they're doing in terms of budgeting. - perhaps they've realised everyone hates Michael Owen and the champs league is a bit boring! What would be refreshing is a company takes new customer offers, current customers and retentions deals - put them together, find and average and just charge that regardless with yearly sainsburys coupons or something as a gesture of goodwill Keep it simple vs having to phone up begging to leave and scraping for coinage. I just find it all too confusing with too much effort involved - dont really care about retention deals, just want a simple straightforward reasonable priced service with no shocks

Well as Plusnet is owned by BT you wouldn't really be leaving at all.

I got the email from BT yesterday, clicked to see what 'offers' they had for me.
I was offered BT Infinity 1 for £18 per month on a 24 MONTH contract, checked again today and now it only offers BT Infinity 1 for £22 per month on an 18 MONTH contract which is more than I pay at the moment!!!!! So no real offer for me, and I cannot understand why the original offer vanished less than 24 hours after they offered it to me!!!!! They'll need to do much better if they want to keep me as a customer when my current deal expires....! |

If you phone you'll probably get slightly better. I got offered much the same but on phone they gave me inf 2 on 12 months at 17.50.
However. On checking I sync at exchange now at 51995 / 8000, which seems awfully convenient as to max inf 1. I phoned back and they assure me I'm on inf 2 but as they can't offer better on inf 1 I'd be as well keeping and phoning back in about 9 months for any further deals. |

As the price has gone up I have looked at the offers and it has BT infinity 2 at
£26.50 a month, then £32.50 from month 19 plus line rental Currently saving you £6 a month off the full price 18 month contract so have gone with this now. I am getting 55 meg now and my box is very close to me so should see the full speed. |

Trouble is if you are in a highly congested area, and during peak times it's unlikely VM will give you anywhere near those speeds either.

I know Ofcom rules allow you to cancel your contract within 30 days if there is a price rise, however can anyone confirm if you can cancel all your products if they only increase 1 element of your package.
For example, if I take their personalised offer of Infinity 2 for £24.50 on a 24 month contract and BT increase line rental in 12 months, can I cancel everything at that point? |

In a word, yes.
17. How we may change your Services, Service Features, Equipment, the Charges and the terms of this Agreement 17.1 The Services, Service Features, Equipment, Charges and terms of this Agreement are variable. We may change them at any time for the reasons set out in Paragraphs 18 to 21. 17.2 If we make a change to our Core Service Charges, or if we make any changes to the Services, Charges (other than the Core Service Charges) or the terms of this Agreement which cause you significant disadvantage: (a) we'll tell you at least 30 days before the change unless we're not reasonably able to give you 30 days' notice (for example, where the change is for legal or regulatory reasons), in which case we'll give you as much notice as possible; and (b) we'll give you the chance to end the affected Service by giving us 30 days' notice without having to pay any increased charges or early termination charges. Paragraph 17.2b from their T&C's only refers to cancelling "affected services" on a price rise?

Can I ask some advice? My contract ends in August. I've been offered ADSL at £5 a month before 2nd of July (which is my current price). However, Infinity is due on my cabinet by the end of August. Would I be better accepting the offer for ADSL and upgrading when the time comes, or leaving it till Infinity is available?

You can move now, if you have been informed of any price rises that affect you. ADSL is free for a year at the moment with Plusnet, also they do not charge any activation fee for FTTC to new users. Not sure if they charge an activation fee for FTTC if you are an existing ADSL customer, so be careful with that! I think they are also supplying 'Hub One' a clone of the BT Home Hub 5 to new users. |

Personally if I was in your position and I have not paid any non returnable line rental saver, I would let my contract end and move over to BT owned Plusnet as soon as possible.

Got a couple of BT mobile contracts and line rental till August so I'll do some sums! |

You can leave penalty free if you notify them you do not accept the price increase and will be migrating elsewhere. I imagine at that point they'd be willing to make you an offer.
I had Infinity for more than 3 years and only had to call support twice - what a struggle those interactions were. |

Exactly what I did and left and yes they did make an offer (more than one in fact) but I changed to a company with monthly contracts and no Indian call centre support.

BT have evidently fallen short of expectations on customer service for some (including me!); and part of the fix is that they are returning call centre work to the UK. Quote:
We have continued to invest in improving the customer experience and our target is now to answer 90% of BT Consumer customers’ calls from within the UK by the end of March 2017. We have already filled more than 900 new roles in our UK contact centres and this quarter announced that we will create an additional 1,000 permanent UK contact centre roles between now and April 2017. ......

The other month I found the BT customer service to be at times less than helpful when I had a minor Infinity fault.
Tane them nearly 2 weeks before they finally sent out an Openreach guy to fix the problem. I even nearly fell out with one of the call centre staff. Darren |
