Is the fast charger just a 2A version?
The TurboCharger is a Qualcomm quick charge 2.0 adapter.

For the cash it actually looks quite good will be interesting to see what the Moto z is priced at but also what the full reviews of the g4 plus say - torn between the moto g4 plus and a nexus 5x now!

Everyone I know who has got a 5X has been disappointed. Not sure exactly what LG did wrong, or why, but be aware.

I've got a G5 at the moment and that also underwhelms me. The fingerprint reader for one is nothing like as good as on my Nexus 6P, Honor 7, Honor 5X or Huawei P9 (notice a common theme there!).

That comes as standard on the Plus, wonder if it's available as an accessory from Moto?

I wouldn't recommend paying those high prices for a Motorola branded charger though.

Aukey/Anker/Choetech and others make very affordable Quick Charge 2.0 and 3.0 chargers, battery packs etc.

That's a good price, but maybe search Amazon for a QC3.0 one for future proofing? It's backwardly compatible, so it's one less thing to change in the future when you get a new phone.

Here are a few: https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb....0+car+charger

I think the current G4/Plus might even be Quick Charge 3.0 capable.

Yes I think they started around the 129 pound mark?

As for size, I'd certainly give 5.5 inches a try but that is about as big as I would go.

I think the original thinking by Motorola was that the price point would remain fairly static (bar inflation, tax rises etc) and the specs would just improve as time went on.

Now it seems the specs are increasing, but so is the price - by quite a bit.

I do believe the Moto G is trying to move from where it was originally pitched, as a decent mid-range phone at a low-end price. When the Moto E came out, it enabled the price to creep up and now I wonder if Lenovo knows what it is doing.

You almost have the G series trying to take over the cheaper X series models (as the X becomes the Z) and the E series can take over where the G was, except I am not sure there will be another E series? Perhaps Lenovo plans to use its own name for the next lot of cheap phones?

The problem these days is that in such a saturated market, it seems crazy to launch a large portfolio of devices as against a few key ones. Low end, mid-range, high-end, done. Then release them every 12 months. At least MotoMaker allows some customisation, but three Moto G models? That seems silly.

It seems the G4 Play will be the their 'budget' model. At 5", 720p, Snapdragon 410 and 2GB RAM it's similar to my Wileyfox Swift which costs £129. The Play has an 8MP camera instead of the 13MP on the Swift but its battery is slightly better at 2800 mah compared to the Swift's 2500. The Swift also has a notification LED, not sure if the Play will. I'd be surprised if it was priced over £130.

At the moment the 4th gen would be a step backwards for 3 network users. My 1st gen 4G phone can use the 800MHz band using 3inT and so get the extra coverage but this one can't.

These new G phones seem overpriced for what they offer, why omit NFC and use an old SoC? Can't think they'll be big sellers like the original ones, unless they drop the price. There is a 'secret' white LED near the fingerprint reader on the Plus but only seems to come on for a second when the power lead is attached.

Should have kept to 5" or less IMO.

It is capable of 800MHz but 3 is odd in regards which phones can use it.

The XT1644 (which I'm guessing is the model we'll get) uses LTE bands 1(2100), 3(1800), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800)

Wi-Fi Calling and VoLTE - Short Term No, Medium to long term - Yes

A nice picture of a flyer for the Moto G4 Plus has hinted that the Moto G4 might have the support for two new Android OS’, the Android N that comes this fall and Android O that comes in late 2017.

Google asks manufacturers to support a device for 18 months, so it stands to reason it will support N (due out late this year) and O which will likely seed to developers around the same time as N did this year.

In a way, it's possibly better to say Android O specifically, than just saying 'supported for nn months' but it still seems a little odd.

According to Moto UK, both the G4 Plus and G4 are dual SIM as standard but the G4 Play is single SIM.

More info.
