Retailers like Tesco, Clove, Handtec now have these 4th Gen Moto Gs but mainly they are single SIMs, with some dual SIM models in white. Current theory is that Motorola UK are selling European dual SIM models. But, 3inT only works on single SIM phones.

Surely the fact that it doesn't have NFC kills the phone dead as a buying proposition?

Whilst it worked fine I simply do not need multi choices in how I use contactless. Of course, if your bank has not supplied you with a contactless card I can see that it is neccessary there. Talking of neccessity, the new upcoming Motos have the headphone socket removed. That looks like something for manufacturers benefit, maybe forcing BT etc is all about DRM ? |

I doubt 90% of mid range phone buyers care either. If it's important to you, then obviously this isn't the phone for you, but that doesn't mean anyone else cares... |

I was referring to the new range, that being the Z.

Ignorance is bliss.
I expect soon, as more people see others paying with their phones, they'll begin to ask if they can too. Then they'll care. |

The street price is hitting £150 now. The Guardian described it as being not so budget, without mentioning the £169 rrp is for a phone matching and beating(1080p screen) the comparable £209 rrp Moto G. The base £159 Moto G v3 had 1GB Ram and 8GB of memory as did the older £150 Moto G 2014.
I guess it will never be as budget(£100 occasionally as a street price) as earlier versions, fewer people, at least in the UK, seeing it a big upgrade from the phone we have now. I wonder if we get a 720p Moto E? That I now dare to mention.

Got hold of the basic G4. Actually in real world, it's a decent phone for someone who isn't interested in Android Pay etc. Snappy performance for the price and camera is good. Fast shutter, good quality. Impressive.

My contract runs out in a few days time and I can get this on an upgrade from my current phone (Moto G 4G) for the same price.
Simple question - is it worth it? Or are there better alternatives for around the same price? I'm happy to spend around £15 a month on a contract. |

Yeah, even today it's a cracking phone and even the chipset is perfectly fine for most people. With native Android, the user interface is slick all the time.
Camera isn't bad either, plus wireless charging. |

How do you get it for £180, their website has it for £269.95.
Edit, oops, looking at the 32GB not the 16GB. ![]() Ah, no card slot. |

HTC not LG Nexus, before someone points that out. Just rumours at this time.
These new Moto G4s seem to have a lot of troubles, going by complaints in it's Moto forum. Overheating, screen faults, ghost touch, software issues, freezes and hangs. Still waiting to see if there's any picture quality difference between the G4 and G4 plus, not bothered by the 3MP. Does one have OIS and the other doesn't? Forum posts seems to be playing up. |

Bit early. They'll be released with Android N won't they? And that doesn't come until the autumn.
