HTC not LG Nexus, before someone points that out. Just rumours at this time.
These new Moto G4s seem to have a lot of troubles, going by complaints in it's Moto forum. Overheating, screen faults, ghost touch, software issues, freezes and hangs. Still waiting to see if there's any picture quality difference between the G4 and G4 plus, not bothered by the 3MP. Does one have OIS and the other doesn't? Forum posts seems to be playing up. |

I've just got a G4 Plus and it seems quite nice, no problems noted so far. Compares closely in most aspects to the Moto X Play. Comes with dual sims and a turbo charger. Screen quality is decent although whites have a slightly yellow tinge.

Thats the norm with the Moto G, I've owned them all, the only Moto G that didn't give me any issues was the 1st gen.

Worth noting that Argos currently have the high end Nexus 5x at £180.
For most people the 5x is a better phone |

Not if they want more than 10GB of storage and need better battery life.

I got the G4 in the end and very happy with it. £14.50 a month with Tesco Mobile which is an incredible deal.
Only two gripes: 1) Size. I do prefer a larger screen size than the original Moto G but this one just strays a little too much into phablet territory. 2) Storage. There is 16GB of storage as standard and expandable storage "up to 128GB". However, this is not the full story - the expandable storage must either be formatted as "internal", which will allow you to store apps on it, or "external", which will allow you to store music/photos/other files from a computer on it. The reason for this is that when formatted as internal storage, the Moto G4 is not recognised by any computer and so files cannot be transferred across. This is only possible when it is formatted as external storage. So, in plain speak, if you want to be able to transfer media between your phone and PC using a USB connection, then you still only have 16GB available for apps. In reality this is closer to 10GB due to the amount taken up by the OS and Google's apps. This is a very disappointing development given that the original Moto G had no problem whatsoever with this. |

I mentioned this in the other thread about dual sims, - my Moto G4 Plus dual sim allows both sim cards to operate in 3G mode (or 4G and 3G) at the same time which is not common on dual simmers.
So this means Sim1 can be on EE for voice+data in 3G or 4G mode and Sim2 can be 3G on Three network for voice only. Previously on the Three Sim could be voice+data as the other sim reverts to 2G which they don't support. You can decide which Sim is for voice+data (4G/3G/2G) and which sim is voice (3G or 2G) - but importantly both sims can be in 3G at the same time. Phone seems nice but am waiting to check out the overheating issue, if it's bad like some say.... I did find recently I turned on the camera, after 30 seconds of view finder operating (not taking pics or video) the phone froze and rebooted itself and the back top left was warmer than I'd expect. Hope this isn't an ongoing issue. |

Is it true that the G4 plus is only available exclusively through Amazon? Does anyone know when it will be available generally? I just have some Argos vouchers to burn up.

Ah, well Qualcomm has had a nightmare with the 615 and I guess the 617 is rather similar.

I bought a G4 for my wife who wanted to move from Windows phone because it doesn't support her car software.......Anyhooze....I got it from John Lewis for £159 with a two year guarantee.
After a week she's delighted with it. Does everything she will ever need and more. It's smooth and accurate in operation, with no problems found to date. The screen is excellent and clear. I believe it gets a bit hot when viewing video for long periods or gaming on it, but, that's not something she is going to worry about. No fast charger in the box (only with the Plus), but, the Windows phone fast charger works fine with it. NFC is not a problem as it won't be used. If a payment option was wanted, I have a case that carries the bank card and it works when presented to the terminal. I have an S6 and have always used Samsungs for Android, so, the pure Android experience on the G4 is interesting. However, I think it shows that the latest version of Touch Wiz has matured and is better than stock. Overall, for the price, it's a steal and I'd recommend it to anyone who's not into gaming. |

Yes, apparently the 617 is almost identical to 615 with only a few clock speeds increased, so it seems it does indeed face the same issues. It seems many people have been reporting this on Lenovo's forum with them telling customers, its normal.
![]() Maybe I should stick with my 410 Powered 3rd Gen one! ![]() The gsmarena review of the phone sounds good but i'm abit concerned with how the MOTO g4 will work with furtue verisions of Andoid.
