Nothing on my Moto X Play is massive.
I think it's possible to increase/decrease the text size if you want to anyway. |

It's a mess. Originally there was the E and G. Then the G had two variants (1GB RAM and 2GB RAM) and now there are loads. (actually there were the 3G and 4G models for a while too but not released at the same time or within weeks).
Does Motorola/Lenovo sell enough phones to have so many variants of the E, G, X, Z etc? Plus the Lenovo branded models? Last year Samsung realised less is more and has drastically cut back on its portfolio. Sony and HTC and others seem to have done so too, albeit perhaps for financial reasons, but then that's the point. You really only need a budget, couple mid and couple higher end models but the moto G mishmash is very confusing. it's taken the Japanese and more recently the Koreans decades to figure out this basic business strategy that providing dozens of options for all market sectors results in no profits. |

Indeed, that's my thoughts - it's readable especially for those without 20-20 perfect vision.
I think it's possible to increase/decrease the text size if you want to anyway. This will display what I mean, The Moto X Play vs Nexus 5X, The X Play has the bigger screen so should display more info on screen but no, everything is just bigger on the X Play, as I said previously you get no more information on the screen of the X Play than you would with the original Moto G which screen is 1" smaller which is a waste of screen real estate, |

More phones should let you change the DPI. Android N does this, as does Cyanogen OS. The Honor 5X now has such an option too (another 5.5-incher).
It is silly to have a big 5.5-inch screen and everything is simply bigger. Sure, some people will want that (or even bigger still for accessibility reasons) but I prefer smaller icons/status bars/notification windows. |

I don't see the point of the G4 play, a decrease in camera quality, same chipset as the G3, same 720p screen. The only possible difference is an increase in battery size? Why not just get a G3, they must have come down in price now. I do find it all bizarre. Please tell me I'm not the only one :P

Had one of these Moto G4's for over a week now, nice phone, excellent screen, fast too, and obviously a bit larger than previous Moto G's.
Couple of downsides are the lack of notification light/blink, and the charger that came with it is soooo slow. I use my tablet charger instead. It also seems to be better, or slightly more sensitive in picking up & holding onto 4G/Wi-Fi signals. All in all, thumbs up. |

When are these new Google/Nexus phones supposed to be coming out??? They are probably going to be pretty expensive though, I wish they would release a more budget version too, they are the only phones that get quick OS updates - but soooo expensive.

139 plus a compulsory £10 top up at carphone at the moment- probably the cheapest mainstream deal right now.
https://www.carphonewarehouse.com/mo...model/MOTG4BLA If you are already on Voda or O2 PAYG (I don't think giff gaff counts though ) you can get it for 129 with no top up.

I bought this for my mum and she's really pleased with it. It's simple to use and very good value. Camera and screen are quite crap though.
Virgin SIM only monthly contracts rival giffgaff for value. Personally I'd go for one of the Samsung 5". Much better screen and camera. |
