I agree, why on earth do they make so many variants, profits are slim and making just a couple of options would likely bring down costs and increase their slender profit margins and reduce confusion considerably.
You really only need a budget, couple mid and couple higher end models but the moto G mishmash is very confusing.
it's taken the Japanese and more recently the Koreans decades to figure out this basic business strategy that providing dozens of options for all market sectors results in no profits.
