I have a Firestick and despite the fact that it is clearly picking up wifi I have an onscreen message saying "out of range" which I does not disappear. Can anyone suggest a remedy? TIA.

I very much doubt the message has anything to do with WiFi. In fact I would bet real folding money that the Firestick itself is not generating this message at all.

That kind of message is more commonly generated by the TV when it is receiving a video signal that it cannot process. It means that some parameter, resolution or refresh rate for example, is outside the range of values it can handle.

Resolving it may be a different matter. It would mean changing the output settings on the Firestick. Which could be tricky if you can't call up the menus on it to do so.

HDMI devices should talk to each other to negotiate a mutually compatible working setup. It might be worth plugging the Firestick into the HDMI on the TV then unplugging it's USB power lead, wait 30 seconds then plug it back in.

This should force the Firestick and TV to re-negotiate with each other and may resolve the problem.

Has it ever worked or are you setting it up for the first time?

Is this the message that you are getting?
