How would you improve the show?

100% agree about the staged audience talking clips.

This isn't Gogglebox.

Oh, and when a contestant gets a standing ovation followed by three yes's from David, Alesha and Amanda do they have to build up a dramatic pause for Simon to just say "you've got 4 yes's". It is the biggest build up to the biggest nothing.

I would love it if they did all that build up and the music stops and then the camera goes on Simon and he says "I thought it was terrible". THAT would be brilliantly unexpected and would be more worthy of all that build up.

-Scrap the audience mic'd comments. As Hitstastic said, this isn't Gogglebox nor does it need to be.
-Ban the audience from clapping and cheering until an act has finished performing.
-Scrap the backstories and sobstories of contestants. It puts me off them.
-Disallow any contestant that's featured on a foreign version of the show.

It's not an improvement exactly, but I'd also give Stephen Mulhern a golden buzzer press. Given he's been the host of BGMT for as long as Ant & Dec have been the hosts of BGT, he's earnt that right.

I'd just like to see more variety. Everyone's golden buzzer act is singing (if you can calm David's golden buzzer singing). There's already the X Factor and the voice. And yet every year it's Britains Got Singers.

And maybe use the golden buzzer for an act that perhaps wouldn't get through. Like his pics or not David is the only one that actually used the golden buzzer to get an act who has no chance through to the semis. The others all pick superb acts who would have gone through anyway.

As many have said, cut the audience comments. Nobody cares what the girl in 14G thinks about ventriloquists.

Quit cutting to shots of the judges and Ant and Dec when the act is performing, particularly when you need to see the act to judge whether or not it's good.

Stop recycling contestants from other Got Talent shows. It looks desperate, particularly when the act has to regurgitate the same old nonsense about BGT being prestigious, and always wanting to perform at the Royal Variety since they were 3 years old in Armenia.

In an ideal world, the show would be free of Cowell's influence, which I imagine is the core of a lot of the show's problems.

And yes, as Lyceum has said, the golden buzzer gimmick is largely pointless as the acts that are given them are almost certainly bound to go through anyway (the bar isn't that high).

Make the show only open to acts that have been resident in Britain for at least 3-5 years .
No back / sob / R-Nan stories.
Only allow singers on that don't meet the criteria to enter The Voice or X-Factor
Open it to proper bands (ones that play instruments as well as sing).
Cut out the joke acts that go through (Never happened on Op Knocks or New Faces).”

So, make it a totally different show, then?

I'd find a way to bring Cilla Black back to life and get her to host a dating show called Blind Date. I never disliked her shows the way I hate the current Saturday night shite.

Remove the fake and cringe worthy moments of the show.

The comments we hear from the audience are fake. The things they say and the way they say it is clearly fake.

Stop going back stage so often so we can hear more fake crap from contestants and some random person asking them a question.

Stop filming the contestants leaving their house. It's just more fake crap.

Stop going to Ant and Dec so often. Most of the time they just make stupid noises.

Enough of the fake shock faces from the judges, especially Amanda, she has done it a fair few times in every show so far.

No more sob stories, nobody likes them.

Removing these things would improve the show a bit. But even if they were removed i don't think the show would improve greatly. The talent is what it is all about but we seem to be getting less of it every year. I honestly think this show would be so much better now if it was on every 2 years rather than every year. It's still getting the viewers but the show has dried up, i'm not enjoying it like i did in the past.

Certainly cut down the back stories in the auditions show, you know who is going to get through even before they show the audition just from the amount of back story they show. Similar with the golden buzzer acts, it's so obvious it's coming.

There is just no surprise in the show.

Also, all those acts we see warming up and chatting backstage but they never show their act? Are they real acts who auditioned or just there to pad it out? Show their act or don't show them at all.

Agree with comments form the audience, also need to cut down on comments from Ant and Dec during the act, although I guess they are used to hide edits to chop the audition down for time.

But most of all - BAN NESSUN DORMA

B.I.B. Yes! I've wondered about that too. Who are all those people? I want to see their act if there is one. If they got rid of the filler stuff they'd have so much more time to show us the talent. Last week, for example, featured a good 5 minutes of David and Simon in the Ghostbuster car while Alesha and Amanda took the fancy car. Why? To see David wind Simon up?

They show us overhead shots of the massive queues for the auditions, there must be a plethora of acts they could show instead of all that wasted time.

I'd agree with most of that.

I'm fast coming to the conclusion that we've seen most things now (dancing dogs, dancing teenagers, teenage singers, impressionists etc etc) that there doesn't seem to be anything new. Perhaps that's why the producers are scouring places like Kyrgyzstan for new acts?

Excellent reply, sums up all that's wrong with the show nicely!
