So why did you quote and answer my post that was a discussion starting with a post by Jon Morris about the jet black iPhone and cases? (which was post #1195).

If I didn't read or answer you earlier posts it's probably because I wasn't interested in their content and or didn't have a comment to make about what you said...
Well you can hardly blame me if you come late to the thread, don't then read what has been said earlier and then grumble because it is 'you' that is not up to speed.

Still as you say you are only interested in reading content that you agree with. A bit like Corbyn already preaching to the converted.

I was completely up to speed with the discussion I was having with Jon. You were welcome to put your own input into the thread , but not to try and stick an oar into a separate discussion about clear cases and the jet black iPhone.

Perhaps next time have the decency to get yourself up to speed on exactly what's being discussed in a post before quoting it and answering it when you are discussing a separate issue?

Blah blah blah politics blah blah blah

What iPhone does Corbyn have?

It's a forum for open discussion not a one to one. The discussion about clear cases versus black or coloured cases started yesterday, but as you said you don't read things that you are not interested in.

Perhaps it would help 'you' to familiarise yourself in future. The blah blah reference is a bit schoolyard isn't it. Though on second thoughts it could be you are of that age group?

Of course it's open to everyone, but don't do stupid things like quote a post that has sweet FA to do with what you are about to pontificate on.

As said previously you were late to an ongoing discussion. Not hard to understand for most folk. Don't embarrass yourself further.

Spoil sport. Threads like this one need a good fight or two to relieve the monotony.

More iOS issues I see. I expect Apple will say it was done to check the robustness of the OS.

Did you read more than the headline?
Apple smartphones are secure. iOS is also secure, and gets tougher with each subsequent generation. With no jailbreak available for iOS 10, physical acquisition is out of the question even on older devices and even if you know the passcode. Cloud acquisition is only possible if you know the user’s Apple ID and password (or have access to the user’s computer with iCloud Control Panel to extract an authentication token), but even then you won’t be able to decrypt the keychain. This leaves us to logical acquisition. Forcing an iPhone or iPad to produce an offline backup and analyzing resulting data is one of the very few acquisition options available for devices running iOS 10.

This only relates to the security of the backup file on one's computer. Seeing as my Mac is whole disk encrypted, the weakness or otherwise of the security on that backup file is an irrelevancy.

The 7 Plus seems impossible to get. On the Apple site it's saying 3 - 4 weeks for delivery. I phoned John Lewis this morning who said it will be 4 weeks minimum before they have any in stock. Been checking the Apple site for pick up availability now and again but so far nothing. I need it before November as I'm going away for a year!! I don't really want to order it online though in case it isn't delivered before I go.

I believe they are available in the mornings on the website for pre delivery if you catch them early enough. Have you tried Selfridges?

I'd get your online order in now with Apple just in case. If you manage to snag one before Apple can deliver it, you can cancel your Apple order. They won't charge you until your order is preparing to be shipped (the charge usually happens 24 hours before they ship your order).

At least this way you're in the queue with a 3-4 week expected wait, although this could easily get bumped up. If you dither for another couple of weeks you may find yourself with no hope of getting one.

Demand for these new iPhones is off-the-charts and I expect them to be supply constrained well into November.

As I said before, no wonder Apple chooses to no longer issue those press releases about how incredible the first weekend sales were compared to their last release.

There were some Apple Stores showing Plus stock on Saturday morning when I checked.

Keep on eye via http://www.istocknow.com/live/ as often as you can, best is early morning.

One UNCONFIRMED report from a market research firm versus what we can see with our own eyes, what carriers are saying, etc. Yes let's believe sales are down massively. Some people

If you really believe sales are down 25%, you might want to consider shorting AAPL. The shares have soared since the start of pre-orders - so if you think you know better than investors and Wall Street, in addition to the sell outs, and carriers saying iPhone 7 is breaking sales records, good luck to you

I didn't say I believed it. Don't get your knickers in a twist. You would think you were a shareholder or something. By the way your share price has dropped since that announcement so there must be some truth to the report.

Yeah, that tiny little company GfK. Can't be trusted!

I think it's reasonable to assume if you are posting that speculative nonsense you think there's some truth to it.

Some people have been rooting for Apple to fail. This thread has been full of pessimism and mocking Apple and Tim Cook. People on here have said these new iPhones are boring, that upgrades would lag, and sales will slump, and yet Apple launches them and still can't make them quickly enough to meet demand.

Yes the shares too a $1.50 or so knock on the report, but they are holding steady and I'm sure will quickly regain those losses. The unauthorised leaking of this report was probably done with the intention of moving the share price downwards.

The numbers haven't even been confirmed by GfK as being accurate. Whether you trust GfK or not is immaterial.

Why would you expect sales to go up in a saturated market and when there's so much controversy over the loss of a headphone socket?

Because there is no real controversy. Most normal people simply don't care and don't need or use a headphone jack.

Hell, even at the Samsung Note 7 launch when the exec got up on stage and tried to make a cheap headphone joke nobody laughed. Of course that's the least of Samsung's concerns now the world knows the Note 7 is basically a weapon for terrorists.

In fairness (and try to look at it without an anti-apple bias) apple seem to be struggling to meet demand which wouldn't make sense if that demand was down by the amount the report states.
