I got up around 7 and in that time I was able to get my mac, iPhone and iPad ready. I've been successful with securing the last two iPhones and apple watch on launch day. In fact this year by 08.30 I managed to get three orders in for the 128GB iPhone 7 plus in rose gold, all for launch day. Cancelled two later on.

I had my first hands on today with the iPhone 7.

It's truly an awful device. The stiff, vibrating home button kills it for me. It seems about half as responsive and has no class. I can live with the missing headphone jack and the fact it's near identical to last year's model.

This could be the end of the road for me as an annual iPhone customer, unless Samsung plan to copy them, which wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

You need time to adjust, it took me above it a day - I'd never go back to the old home button now.

Me neither. I think it's much better and more responsive.

I was thinking: If the audio signal in available on this Lightning Port, if there is space available, why doesn't someone work out ho to add a 3.5mm headphone socket? And for real, not that just drilling a hole in your phone video.

I think what would be popular is a thin dock-style adaptor that plugs into the lightening socket but runs along and supports the whole lower edge of the phone with a phono socket at right angles in one end. Look a bit like this but even less bulky

Why would anyone make one when there's clearly no problem and all owners have decided they don't want to listen to audio via an outdated connector?

😉

But any manufacturer of any such device would have to pay apple royalties for using their port.

Yes! Why don't they just do as they are told to do by Apple? How dare anyone question them.

If I was forced into having to use one (say by work) then I would make up my own adaptor. I made up my own wireless charging car cradle based on a small plate display stand as I didn't like any of the ones on the market.

Make sure to send Apple some money!

I will already have given Apple the money for the cradle socket I will have had to cannibalise.

With all your sycophantic posts no one can rely on your assessment of any Apple product. Let's be quite candid, if Apple had replaced the Home Button with a piece of 'poo' you would still be giving it the thumbs up.

Giving it a thumbs up is guaranteed way of ending up with a piece of poo!

Yep! I thought the same. I'm sure a psychologist would love to interview aurichie as I suspect he would make a fascinating case study.

I did think after posting that a 'thumbs up' wasn't perhaps the best choice of words.

Never stop @aurichie - your posts brighten my day.

While I expect it's all a big wind up from someone who probably has an Android phone and watches TV with Virgin, I do always imagine that his stories and opinions are real.

Now of course people could wait and upgrade every 2-3 years, and you should do so if you cannot realistically afford the upgrade. But I can absolutely understand why some people want to jump on board now and start taking advantage of all that incredible new technology. If people can afford to upgrade every year, then I see absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Even the highest end model is only costing people about £2.52 a day to own for a year. That's very affordable for a lot of people.”

There are phones out there with better displays than Apple.

You've obviously never ventured onto macrumors. There are people far worse than me on there.

I did own an Xperia S for a year. Right now I have a Lumia 950 XL and an iPhone 7 Plus as my most recent phone purchases. I love Apple, but I have both a dell XPS 9550 as well as a MacBook Pro laptop, I'm definitely not the most ardent Apple fanatic out there, but their mobile devices are worlds ahead of the competition. iPad Pro and iPhone 7 Plus are the best in class devices in terms of tablet and smartphone.

Android is a big ugly mess with too many security problems to be taken seriously by me. Even Google appears to have given up on Android tablets the experience is so bad and poorly supported by developers. Microsoft are easily in second behind Apple when it comes to tablets, but miles ahead of Android.

Displaymate says the iPhone 7 display is "Visually Indistinguishable from Perfect". You can't really beat that.

See below from trusted review.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has a stunning 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display. It’s the absolute best in the business, bar none. The Quad HD resolution remains the same as before, for a 518ppi pixel density. Where Samsung has improved things is with the inclusion of Mobile HDR, which leads to an even more vivid, high-contrast picture in your videos.

Conversely, Apple’s mobile display technology remains a bit static. The company opts for the same 4.7-inch display with a 326ppi pixel density for the iPhone 7, and a 5.5-inch display with a 401ppi pixel density for the iPhone 7 Plus. It’s also used the same IPS LCD panel technology for years now, and it finds itself trailing Samsung on pretty much all counts.
