Another week passes with little to zero iPhone 7 plus stock.
I have two ordered to arrive by the 24th October. Seems the only way I'll end up getting them.

It's weird that people on here are posting that they were able to get them from Carphone Warehouse and JL.

I've been playing around with a friends iPhone 7 plus this morning. I still think of it as the 'ugly child' it really is no beauty. All Apple's know how in design and this is the best they could do.

Ugly? You can say many things about it but it isn't ugly.

It's almost identical to the 6/6S. Were they 'ugly'? If so, it's nothing especially bad about this model, is it?

It's overly large with fat bezels. Be honest, if this phone had any other logo than Apple on it you would not give it the time of day. In fact I suspect you would ridicule it.

The 6/6S just scrapes by because it's overall size is less. The SE is the nicest phone in their range.

It's just a phone. Not something to ridicule. I don't get that emotive about a piece of metal that makes calls unlike some others on here who seem to want to make love to it. And maybe they do cause I doubt they are getting it anywhere else.

Everyone has different perceptions of what's nice and whats not.

Personally i think all phones up from the 4 and 4S are awful.

The 6/6S are the same size as the 7, so your argument is very weak.

I could never have a phone that had such large bezels - that's why if the photos are true of the new Google Pixel phone then that would be out of the question for me.

I like a phone as large as I can be comfortable with which would be around 5.5" with hardly any bezel.

Your spending a lot of time looking at the screen on a phone so better to have the biggest phone you are comfortable with (I love my works Note 4, but it's very slightly too big (ok in trousers, but can be tight in some jeans)).

I think the 7 plus is huge (and unnecessarily so) and think the new Pixel phones are ugly too. In fact, I am hating the fact that Google now thinks it can be like Apple and jack up the prices at the same time.

I get why the industry as a whole wants to increase the prices, to increase margins, but still don't like it. Networks are calling for it, and presumably the carriers are asking for higher retail prices, while also wanting a bigger slice of the pie themselves.

And now we know why Apple removed the headphone socket and made it waterproof.

That's because you're obsessed with the notion that people only like Apple products because of the logo.

While there may well be a tiny minority of people who unconditionally love all things Apple, the fact is that Apple sell tens of millions of these things - they can't all be buying them because of the logo.

Here's a thought, however controversial it might sound:

Maybe, just_maybe, people actually just like iPhones?

No, I was talking about the 4.7" version as opposed to the 6s plus and 7 plus, the bog standard when I said it was smaller. I simply confused the two.

The 6s Plus and the 7 plus are the ugly slabs.

No I'm not. I've said on many occasions that Apple make a good phone, I've even got one. I would certainly argue that there's a huge percentage of people have iPhones either due to peer pressure or as a fashion statement, with a lot being a combination of the two.

The fact still remains the larger model is not aesthetically pleasing. It reminds me of a slab of cheddar. They need to shed the home button and enclose it in the screen whilst placing the finger print reader on the side. That would then enable them to get rid of the ugly bezels.

I would't even go that far. I think a lot is just due to Apple's brand and marketing. If you are a non technical person who wants a smartphone, "iPhone" is probably the first thing you'll know about. Same with the iPad (it says a lot that the NFL commentators still call the Surfaces the coaches use "iPads").

The Google Pixel phones look very much like the iPhone, 'big bezel' and all!

So do you own an iPhone because you want it as a fashion statement, or because of peer pressure?

Your view is just that - your opinion. If other people do happen to like it (and the design of the jet black has been pretty well received, although I definitely prefer matte), the explanation is simply that they don't share your opinion.

It probably isn't that they do share your opinion, but discount it because of the logo.

No, please, I've handled many Android phones with fingerprint readers in strange places (and they're all more awkward), if they can enclose the home button in the screen the print reader needs to go in the same place. For ApplePay it's the most natural place for the thumb as you lay the phone on the reader.

I got the iPhone because it was gratis ex-work phone, 4s in shiny black . Our company moved to Android as it worked out better for their business needs.

I don't think it's my opinion either, I think it is absolute fact. Anecdotal I know but the company I work for, nearly all the younger people got an iPhone because 'their friends' had got one. I would put that percentage at no lower than 90%. Even if it wasn't true in every single case and you scale that up as being a reasonable representation of other users then it's a hell of a lot.

They are not called iSheep for nothing, there's always some truth behind such statements. Now you make not like it and will in all likelihood attempt a counter argument, however, it is what it is.

Xperia works wonderfully well on the side and has received many positive reviews. If you used one for a couple of days you would wonder why they all aren't on the side.

It's a bit difficult to tell from those shots given the phone is black but the bezels certainly look OTT. I don't care who makes the phone, if the aesthetics aren't good they aren't good.
