just seen a popup on channel 83 that 5USA+1 is moving to channel 78 tomorrow 4th May any body else seen this

I assume that's been done thanks to association with Rishtey. Interesting that they can do that given Rishtey is only part-owned by Viacom.
Yet another rescan. Why can't any channel moves be co-ordinated so we don't have to rescan every damn week!!!!

It is coordinated with the launch of Channel 5 HD and you don't have to rescan if you don't want to - it's only an LCN change for a channel nobody actually watches, in fact I'd guess that over 99% of mere mortals don't even know it exists.

I have to agree with this post, if my memory serves, and I'm sure somebody will put me right if I'm wrong, but when freeview first began there used to be 2 retunes a year, March and September. now they come thick and fast 2or 3 per month.
This is fine if you only have 1 TV to re-tune, but when you work in a hotel as I do, you are faced with having to re-tune 50 TV's.
I've seen the criticisms of hotels not keeping up with re-tunes, but in our defence, this process is time consuming and frankly we have better things to do with our time than constantly trudging around the building doing re-tunes.
In my opinion, there needs to be better co-ordination with the providers when it comes to changes.
Most newer devices automatically update so I guess that's the excuse for allowing frequent un-coordinated changes. Still these frequent changes are most annoying to those of us who maintain their own order of channels especially where there is no channel insert functionally on the channel edit menu.

Maybe but recently several channels have changed muxes so rescasns have been required.
There are some programmes worth watching on 5USA such as Longmire & Mysteries of Laura etc.

I gave an old Samsung TV to a friend 6 months ago who hasn't a clue about how to re-scan. I went round last week to do this for them and I was quite amazed how many channels changes there had actually been in that time frame.

Ironically when we had digiboxes throughout the hotel, these auto re-scanned, since we have got rid of the all TV's have to be manually re-scanned.

It would be nice if hotels at least did it once a year which, in my experience, they don't and they don't let you do it yourself as the option is disabled.

I have no recollection of this ever being the case. There have been two or three major retune days where significant changes have been made but new channel launches and minor mux/LCN changes have always been independent of this.

The minor ones always used to be grouped together though - not like earlier this year when some people potentially had a retune a day for a week.
