Is it possible to do a follow up on the excellent An Adventure In Time And Space which would follow the shows 26 year run?

The problem with that idea is that there would be no consistent characters to follow all the way from 1966 to 1989. AAiTaS followed the story from the perspective of Verity Lambert and William Hartnell.

JN-T would be a good character to follow, as his era had four Doctors plus two returning Doctors and a stand-in. So a 1980s JN-T drama would cover every Doctor from Troughton to McCoy from the perspective of one Producer. This was also the most turbulent period in the show's history with internal politics and the threat of cancellation.

Whether the BBC would want a drama about such an embarrassing time for the show is another matter.

In all honesty, I would LOVE An Adventures in Space and Time but with it being Russell T Davis rebooting it,
I'm not sure how it would work, it would be very different, but would be interesting to see, how he go the idea to happen and chose the actor and the directon for the show. Could even push towards the spin-off's in it to make it a bit longer ?

I'm unsure if they could really make any other time in the show's history quite as interesting as the beginning.

I'd like to see a sequel to The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot to be honest.

Well, there would be more smoking in it than Marla from Fight Club.

I'd love to see a sequel to The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot. Wasn't one supposed to be happening? Or at least mooted by Peter Davison?

An Adventure in Space and Time: II? Nah. I don't think so. As a Doctor Who fan the original was enjoyable, but for a mainstream audience, despite how lovingly made and well done it was, I suspect it was a bit too niche. A sequel would be even more so.

It might be fun to speculate on the subtitles though!

AAiTaS II: The Cosmic Hobo Years
AAiTaS III: Dude, Who Broke my TARDIS?
AAiTaS IV: My Scarf and Me
AAiTaS V: Cricket and Celery
AAiTaS VI: Technicolor Nightmare Coat
AAiTaS VII: In Merlin's Shadow
AAiTaS VIII: 1996, and all that
AAiTaS: IX: A Boy and his TV Show
AAiTaS: X: Retcons and Redheads
AAiTaS: XI: Writers' Room Mates (?)

Not sure if it would be a follow-up to AAiSaT but Tom Baker's autobiography would be make an excellent screen adaptation. His early life took so many twists, turns and tribulations, that focusing his story before he got the Doctor gig, is a drama in itself!
In fact, I'd probably end the drama in 1974 with him at his final costume-fitting as he's looking at himself in a full-length mirror, just beaming, then roll the credits ending it on a high, although to get that flavour of Tom is the Doctor I would insert half a dozen 10 second clips during the end credits of the actor playing Tom when he was called to switch-on the Blackpool Illuminations, building up to him calling in at some random house asking to watch the episode going out that evening and the young boy in the room casting his gaze from the TV screen to a jaw-dropping surprise seeing a grinning Tom sitting behind him on the sofa!

To be honest I feel like there's already too much stuff about doctor Who (compared to perhaps not quite enough actual Doctor Who). Yes, I'm saying that on a Doctor Who forum.

On a purely subjective note I also thought an Adventure In Time and Space was absolutely awful.

How was it awful?

A special one off production for the 50th anniversary. I can't see there being a follow up or a reason for one until maybe the 100th anniversary when i won't be here to watch anyway.

A drama about JN-T might get quite dark, especially if it covers the allegations...

And quite damaging to the current show, I imagine, even though the current show has nothing at all to do with it. It's amazing, actually, that the tabloids have never dug into this. From what little I've heard from the occasional mention here (and I'm happy to be corrected if I've got this wrong or if the accusations are mere rumour mongering) it would and should have been a major scandal if it had been brought to public attention at the time,

Why what actually happened?

To be honest, I've no idea, but I gather the allegations centre around inappropriate activities with young fans. A book containing the allegations was published a few years ago and was discussed briefly here.

If much of it is true (and I can well believe it is), friends in high places can take care of just about anything with the press imo (whatever the pretence otherwise)...
