Just to clarify the changes


We’re making some changes to your Entertainment Month Pass. This includes adding a new channel for you to enjoy from today – Nat Geo Wild – bringing you some of the best wildlife programmes around. And kids TV is getting a place all to itself. We’re moving the channels Nickelodeon and Nick Jr from the Entertainment Month Pass, adding in a bundle of new ones, and creating a brand new Kids Month Pass.
The important bits

From today Nat Geo Wild joins your Entertainment Month Pass. And the price of your pass isn’t changing; it still renews at £6.99 a month and you can cancel at any time
The Nickelodeon and Nick Jr channels will be leaving your Entertainment Month Pass on 21 June and moving to the new Kids Month Pass when it launches
The Disney Channel will be leaving NOW TV’s Entertainment Month Pass on 21 June due to changes in our rights
When it launches the Kids Month Pass will be available with a 14 day free trial, and then renews at £2.99 per month

Interesting that this month there have been plenty of advertising hoardings flogging "Now", and today in my paper I got my first ever Now flyer. It's always been Sky TV or broadband!

So, either read nothing into it, or
a. Sky are desperately trying to get back ex-satellite subscribers who have lost interest/hope in their expensive service - and Now is he only way possible
b. Now isn't doing as well as expected, so it's time to get it into the public's attention
c. Sky wants to appeal to as many as possible who would never take up the service - to help pay their Premierleague costs.
Probably all three!
But what we won't see is the adverts showing how much you can save by moving from satellite to Now

As it happens there is an advert for NowTV at the bottom of the page as I type this! I am thinking of getting NowTV (hopefully as a birthday present) as there are often adverts for ITV Encore and Sky Atlantic which look like my cup of tea!

Many, many people don't want/can't have satellite or cable. Others find it simply too expensive.

We rarely watch linear TV other than news so when we had Sky, much of our consumption was recorded, catchup or box sets. That's very expensive when compared to a Freeview/Sat recorder and Now TV and maybe Netflix to top up free TV with a considerably good offering at a low cost. Now TV can be had for around £5 and provides the major Sky premium entertainment channels at a fraction of the cost of Sky itself.

Lack of contract and low fees makes it a winner for me and I'm sure many others.

Between Now TV, Netflix etc it really means there's very little need to obtain TV shows in less legal ways or great expense.

It might be different if we had kids, but we don't!

The future is multicast IPTV and Sky are only just getting started and are competing in quite a competitive space already.

I'm having trouble accessing bbc iplayer and other non-Sky services today , anyone else having problems ?

the Sky channels are working ok , the menu page seems to have changed as well .

I suspect Netflixs dominance in that report will fall now that they have gone nuclear on vpn users - you used to be able to easily watch other netflix regions (ie the stuff on sky Atlantic via USA / Canadian / Austrian Netflix regions) so cheaper / more convenient having all content under one roof so to speak. now it's just the uk - still worth it though at £3.50pm if shared with someone
