Digital Spy website
I always come to digital spy for soaps news and have done for years but omg lately its terrible them pop up advert videos make the site ten times slower and keep jumping everywhere and all the writers do is copy and paste from old posts which is really lazy it just seems making money is the most important thing about DS now which is a shame it used to be an amazing website to visit

Most of the articles now seem to be lifted from TV listings mags or based on what peoples opinions of soaps are on Twitter.

With regards to the ads, if you're on Firefox, download Adblock onto your computer. It does exactly what it says on the tin - I've been using it for years and now those irritating ads have finally disappeared. (I think it's available on Chrome too, but don't quote me on it.)
And I do agree with the amount of articles based around what Twitter users think. I don't really care what some random person thinks of last night's Eastenders twist, or some pop star's new album - I can find that out for myself. And, while we're on the subject of this website, I don't particularly care for the articles along the lines of: '8 times we thought such and such was amazing' or something like that. |

also years ago couldn't you comment on the articles they had? i remember a few of the people on there and they were hilarious.
New soap pages are a complete waste of time, never visit them now!!

Even despite getting a new computer built after christmas ive found that recently DS has got extremely slow. It tells me that pages have gone unresponsive and if you click to fix it it takes ages and sometimes it's needs pressed many times to sort the article out. I've tweeted DS to sort it out but I've got no reply yet. Its obviously not my computer.
Is anyone else finding it telling them its unresponsive for them. |

I've just had a peek at it. It still takes 42 scrolls to get from the top to the bottom of the page.
![]() But to be honest, the design is the least of their problems, now. The main problem is the content - or lack of it. Use Radio Times, that's OK. |

The performance of the site on a medium-powered laptop is abysmal. I've given up on many occasions. My beast of a gaming machine handles it fine, but surely they've tested it and seen how slow it is?

Using the main site on your iPhone is near impossible - especially if there is any kind of media on the page you're trying to view - images, videos etc... take forever to load.
The 'list' articles are lazy journalism and always of a random number. "9 reasons we're excited for..." not 10 reasons, 9. It's like they ran out of ideas. Content poor. Cluttered look. Adverts dominate everything - sometimes popping up on the entire screen on the iPhone. It's just crap and no matter how much we scream and shout about it on here, they do sod all to make it better. It's now so advert dominated - the irony being that they are the only thing that consistently work. |

I just don't bother anymore! I stick with the forums,
The result of that is I never know what Danny Dyer has had for lunch or how many times he has farted in the past hour.

I stopped using the main site on a regular basis about 8 months ago when a pop up advert automatically opened up a gambling page and charged me £5 without even clicking on anything.
I reported it to my network provider and complained to Digitial Spy - neither of who refunded me my money. Dispicable. |

The site is incredibly slow and jumpy, its getting to a point where it is unusable, adverts pop up and you cant even switch them off I always have to mute them. the main page takes forever to load and the articals are poor and lazy.
Its been like this for so long now and nothing has improved in fact quite the reverse looks like DS sold its soul to the devil. |

I will never understand who made the decisions to first of all revamp the site, then get rid of comments under the articles, then change the site again to make it even more unusable. If something isn't broke then don't fix it, the site used to be brilliant and now it's terrible for many of its users, and don't get me started on the endless amount of Danny Dyer or, "Is Jon Snow Alive?" articles that are always on the front page...

It's also virtually unusable on an Ipad.
I agree that the content on the site is abysmal now as well. |

It's probably a good thing for them that they did ditch the article comments - imagine how many they'd get complaining about the s**t that passes for content these days?
There's no or little distinction between the different types of content (spoilers/news/features) in the soap section, making it difficult to find what you're looking for. It's a mess. DS say they got a lot of positive feedback during the beta but I'm yet to see anyone say they like the redesign and think it offers a better user experience. Plus, the beta was misleading as that was just a change of look. Initially comments were still on the beta and the site wasn't overloaded with clickbait and pointless list articles/'features' and DS didn't advise during the beta that the final result would include content changes. If by some miracle they did get positive feedback during the beta I wonder if some of those people who gave them it would stand by their opinions now. The site is probably popular with who they want it to be but in turn they've alienated other groups they once appealed to. Also do they work from some sort of content pool with other sites now? If one runs one of those 'this is what so and so looks like now' articles a group of other sites seem to follow suit with each article a loosely reworded version of the original. |

the site is dreadful now!!! as far as the useability and interface goes, i cant use it on my mobile at all.
and the less said about the content the better! only a few months ago it was a great site with proper stories, now every article just seems to be clickbait. whats worse is when it was in its 'beta' form the feedback was overwhelmingly negative, yet they went ahead with it anyway?? oh well, atleast the forum remains the same... for now. |

If it wasn't for the forums I wouldn't he using the site at all. I used to look forward to visiting the site several times a day. It takes far too long to load in all aspects now, so I've reduced my usage to just one visit per day, if that. Or, I will make a concerted effort to visit the forum if I have something in particular I want to say about a soap/storyline.
