Bf5 (bf1)
Xbox leaked the artwork for BF5 (which appears to be called Battlefield 1) almost certainly confirming it is going to be set during WW1.
Offical reveal is @ 9pm UK time but x-box dashboard leaked the artwork for the dashboard already. I'm extremely excited as it's a bold move going for WW1 where no real AAA developer has gone before. |

Apparently Battlefield 1 is set in alternate history World War 1.

Also note to bf4 owners who didn't buy map packs. Dragons teeth is free this month and others over next few months.

Sigh, WW1 and especially WW2 games have been done so many times, though not lately.
Bring on BF2143 already. Fans been asking for it for nearly 10 years, unlike BF4, BF5/1/remastered(1942?) |

The name is pretty dumb, I mean Xbox One was bad enough but it sort of works with the whole "All in one system" Microsoft are trying to push, but surely a game set in (alternate) World War I can do better than simply be called "Battlefield 1"?
Either way, interested to see how this plays out, I'm more or less over FPS games now unless they have something unique to bring to the table, and an alternate version of World War 1 might just be enough to pique my interest if handled correctly, if it's simply Battlefield with a new coat of paint I'll be giving it a hard pass. |

The talking was boring, I just muted it until I saw the trailer come on, didn't expect them to drag it out for that long. But the trailer was pretty good, not really a Battlefield fan, but I'm interested in this.

I'm not convinced, the trailer had a grand total of 3 seconds of actual gameplay, will hold out until there's more actual gameplay on show.
Also I know this is nitpicking but ffs man first CoD with a terrible Space Oddity remix and now Battlefield with a poor Seven Nation Army remix? |

Yeah too much cinematic trailer to tell what it really plays like. I've no doubt it'll be good though and equally that I'll get it.
A lot of focus on the planes. I don't fly in bf4 really though so need the ground to be good. I think that takes me to 3 years of bf4. Not bad value. |

Glad with the announcement, I think everyone has had enough of futuristic space marine FPS's.
Looking forward to it. |

I am looking forward to this so much! It is one of my favourite eras of warfare and from the trailer it looks amazing. I do hope that they will make some effort to get the planes to handle in different ways: for instance the Sopwith Camel with it's lightening fast right hand turn, the SE5 which was very stable in flight etc. If we get to shoot down Zeppelins my cup runneth over as they say.
I was so pleased to see the Middle East Campaign included. My grandfather served in that theatre under Allenby and was a cavalry man, being a sergeant in the Denbighshire Yeomanry, who took part in several battles against the Turks. He rode horses and once went into battle on a camel so he said, maybe camels will be unlocked as dlc?? LOL What a difference from the palid sub sci fi nonsense COD is going with this year! |

I'm not a Battlefield multiplayer but I'll give the single player a go. Hope there isn't a lot of flying though.

Hoping there's a place for both bf1 and bf4 as we go on. It should be good going back to bf1 era and for those up to date phases, pop back on to 4. I just love playing golmud.
Bf4 is about as futuristic as I'd venture as not overly keen on the hover tank they brought in. |

Interesting moved going for WW1 era, it will be interesting how the vehicles work out in this game. Looking forward to seeing an FPS set in a classic era as we have had modern for ages and now a push to future. Quote:

This is what narks me about the CoD games - three separate developers, ALL knocking out future games. Three developers;
1. Historical games 2. Modern games 3. Future games Activision have been caught with their pants down this year. DICE on the other hand have timed this perfectly. To say that people are jaded by the number of games set in the near or distant future, would be an understatement. I'll put any amount of £££ on the next CoD game being historical as well. BF1 looks incredible. I hope that it does well. |

My ideal scenario is everyone on horses but weirdly I glitch over from bf4 with an LAV and kill everyone with my zuni rockets.
folk are already asking if c4 sticks to horses lol. Would c4 have been around in that format though in ww1? Wouldn't explosives have been wire connected with those charge plungers ? No choppers either I'd think in ww1. I'm aiming to get premium this time around as I end up buying all the maps anyway. Edit. I agree. Cod will go back to whatever the cash cow analysis says. |

C4 wasn't developed until the 50s.
Even earlier forms didn't show up until the Second World War. |

It's not C4 apparently it's "dynamite" LOL Hopefully you can light it with your Swan Vesta and then chuck it! I don't know if it will be sticky, maybe coat in treacle or something like the home made sticky bombs in Saving Private Ryan.
I wonder what they are going to do about the main German tank in WW1 which was pretty bad and made when the Germans didn't really understand how to use tanks, it was basically a huge armoured box on tracks with guns sticking out at all angles. It always reminds me of something you would draw in the back of your exercise book in school! They only produced 100 of them where as the Brits made 1200 Mark IV and over 400 Mark V tanks. Whenever they could the Germans used captured British tanks. There were some faster tanks around by 1918. The Royal Tank Corps were modifying Whippet light tanks with leaf springs and Rolls Royce Eagle aero engines and getting speeds of 30 mph, which was amazing for the time, so Dice could include some faster lighter tanks. There were some interesting armoured cars as well I saw in a video that Dreadnoughts will be player controllable. A battleship with 8 x 15 inch guns or up to 14 x 12 inch guns was pretty formidable so I don't know how they will be included or even if they will be in multiplayer. Will be fun to see what they do with them. |
