I find the conversations she has with adults to be very unchildlike. I know, chip off the old block and all, but I just find it weird. Almost as if the lines were written for a character like Sean but spoken by a 10/12 year old.

I'm not knocking the actress at all, she seems very competent, I just find the material strange for her age.

She is embarrassing to watch. And this "boyfriend" stuff just adds to the cringe.

I know what you mean but have you ever seen Modern Family? Almost everything the kids say are perfect one liners that only adults could say, it's ridiculous.

Amy just about gets away with it, as the girl who plays her can deliver the lines well. Good little actress.

I have seen it and you're right. Maybe it's a trend in shows now. I do think the occasional adult-ish comment made by a youngster is cute, but it shouldn't define the whole character.

Some of the things Amy says can be amusing but I do think they need to tone her down. I feel like they're trying too hard to make her 'the next Blanche', what with all the one-liners she keeps coming out with.

It's not the actress's fault, she does a good job with the material she's given but some of that material seems a bit un-natural for a child of Amy's age.

I love Amy and her one liners! Yes, it's very Blanche, but I also think it's very Tracey at times and where Steve is concerned, very Liz. She runs rings around the lot of them and it's because they literally cannot argue with the points she makes, mixed with the shock she's make the observation and said something they don't expect from a child.

The little actress is wonderful too, because she plays it completely straight and acts like she's doing them a favour just by tolerating them, which heightens the comedy.

It does seem like that. I'm not sure I would put it down to bad acting but bad writing. Her character has been written to be very dry and sarcastic. They could do with reducing her screen time, like Max, we don't see him as much, he's more like a window dressing in the Platt family. He was ok in the Callum storyline though.

Yet another child/young person in Corrie that doesn't have any friends of her own age that's what make her weird.

There's a fine line between making her wisecracking and plain rude. Unfortunately, I think the writing is very much veering towards the latter. Elle Mulvaney, however, is a very good little actress.

There is two types of child in Corrie the dimwits or the vile brat and quite often the dimwits go on to become vile brats as they get older and when they become adults they then go back to being dim wits. .

She's an only child who spends her life around adults it's not that far fetched that she behaves more like an adult than a child

I don't find her far fetched at all. She is a child of a family of big characters and she has always been encourages to be herself. She has an adult way of talking because she is always around d adults who don't keep any part of their lives private from her. She plays them all and they know it but let her do it anyway. As for the boyfriend thing, loads of children have boyfriends/girlfriends. It's a childish relationship. Nothing wrong with it.

She is very rude and is never chastised for being cheeky to adults.

Having said that, she's best when she bonds with her mum. One of the few times the writers attempt to humanise Tracy.

I don't like smarmy kids lording it over ineffectual adults - I hated that series 'Outnumbered' for the same reason.

The character amuses me, and the actress is very good, possibly the best child actress that Corrie has had. If you compare her performances with that of the girl who plays Anna's foster.step/child, there is no comparison. I would like to see some softness wrtten into Amy's script, some compassion for someone.

The whole character is entirely cringe-worthy. Even worse is the apparent acceptance of her peculiar behaviour by everyone around her. It's like Sarah's situation (having a child with no father in the picture, no job, nowhere to live, etc.) where everyone acts as if this is not only perfectly normal but absolutely delightful.

I'd be dicing with death speaking to my parents like that even at my age, never mind as a child!
