I believe there are a number of different types of led displays, can someone tell me the difference and advantages between them such as picture quality and viewing angles etc.

You probably mean the difference between TN, VA and IPS panels.

No such a thing as "led displays;" they are LCD displays. There are two types of LCD displays, one with an LED backlight and the other with a flourescent backlight.

The only other types of displays are plasma and OLED. Both plasma and OLED are the same in terms of each pixel and sub pixels being their own light source or bulb, in other words there is no backlight. They also have the same huge viewing angles, unlike an LCD display that gets washed out and dimmer if you look at them from the sides or to high or low. With OLED and plasma you can stand at any angle to the TV and there is no noticeable difference in brightness and contrast. Where OLED beats plasma is that pure blacks are pure black. In other words, the pixels are not emitting any light at all whereas plasma blacks would still be emitting a little bit of light.

The only advantage to LCD displays is their cheaper cost and their brightness, otherwise they are inferior in every other way to plasma and OLED. Unfortunately most manufacturers have stopped making plasma TVs. OLED is the future but they are still more expensive than LCD.

If you are talking about computer monitors and posted to the wrong forum, then there are differences between cheap and more expensive LCD displays in terms of color quality and viewing angles. In that case you want an IPS computer monitor. You'll get better viewing angles than a non-IPS LCD and better color.

LCD displays also use far less electricity than plasma so run cooler. They also don't emit the horrendous RF interference that plasma do. Thankfully most manufacturers have discontinued them.

You should watch Better Call Saul - there's a subplot where a guy wears a space blanket to shield himself from electrical signals.
