I would like to see the following eventually

Knots Landing
Flamingo Road
Falcon Crest
Dark Shadows
Prisoner Cell Block H
Jupiter Moon
Triangle
Eldorado (all on you tube actually)
The Cedar Tree

Sunset Beach is always a good laugh. All the episodes are on Youtube but once you start watching you won't be able to stop. Its very addictive.

Does Waterloo Road count? It was kind of soapy but probably classed as a "drama" rather than a soap, when I find the time I'd love to re- watch series 1 - 4 which were the best IMO.

Apologies for the cock up of the title. It doesn't sound right. does it? I actually edited it but the change still hasn't come up.

I'd love to see Flamingo Road, Triangle and The Cedar Tree again as I only saw them all once, when i was stil pretty young - especially The Cedar Tree which I used to watch with my Mum when we were both part time - her teaching and me at Nursery in the mornings.

I have all of Knots Landing, Dynasty and Dallas on dvd and most of Sons and Daughters and rewatch them all quite reguarly. I recently got the Colbys dvd and rewatched for the first time since original transmission 30 years ago and loved it. There are some seasons of Falcon Crest I've never seen and would really like to.

I loved what we got of Santa Barbara and would dearly like to see the rest, or certainly the 5 years up to when Lane Davies left.

I also really enjoyed what they've released of Neighbours, which is approx the first 18 months.

I had no idea about The Cedar tree until a few weeks. It was by the man who did Upstairs Downstairs, which is one of my all time fav shows. Instead it was done as a soap and I don't think it focussed so much on the Downstairs. Very hard to find online and I don't want to risk buying the boxsets in case I don't like it. One day hopefully

Jupiter Moon is another one I came across a few weeks ago. It's was essentially Star Trek as a soap but with no monsters. It even had Lucy Benjamin in it.

I couldn't stand Jupiter Moon, despite being a Soap and Sci Fi fan. Couldn't at the time and then i rewatched it as I was reviewing it for one of the mags (TV Zone I think) when it was released on dvd about 15 years ago.

As mentioned, i was very small when I saw the Cedar Tree so remember very little about it - it's more the 'feeling' of watching it I remember if that makes sense rather than actual plots. I do recall 2 of the main characters (mother and daughter) dying when they were away at a hotel and there was a fire.

Um spoiler alert. . Just kidding.

Did you use to be a reviewer then as your job?

Whoops sorry. Of course, Of could be misremembering!

Not my main job no, but I have several friends (and brother) who are journalists and from time to time they would ask me to review books or tv shows in a freelance capacity if they were up against deadlines and they knew it was a subject I was already up to speed on. Generally it tended to be shows like Buffy or Angel I reviewed - i'm actually quoted in the Buffy companion Press bits!

Oh brilliant. What a great thing to do though. Especially doing a show like Buffy.

Although not a success, I would still like to see Punishment, the male version of Prisoner which Grundy's attempted.

The complete series has been released on DVD. It's in 5 volumes IIRC,so it's worth getting the first if you're a fan of Upstairs Downstairs. I loved it,although I am a fan of both period drama and archive TV drama.

I don't know what it was called, or whether it is still available, but a friend bought a dvd which was like a selection box of significant episodes of ITV soaps from the 60-80s including The Cedar Tree, Gems, Albion Market, plus more recognised like Crossroads, Corrie and virtually unknown ones.

Would help to give a teaste to see if you want to watch more. I'll ask him what it was called.

Yes, i'd like to see the male spin off from Prisoner as well - never seen any of it and it would be interesting.

It's called Soap Box. The first episode of The Cedar Tree is on there, although I don't think that it's one of the better episodes of the series.

Thanks, save me asking him!

Yes, I imagine a lot of them will be first episodes rather than 'best' episodes.

Slightly off topic as not a Soap, but did anybody else love 'Crown Court'? Something else i only watched when off sick from school but enjoyed and has been released on dvd, in fact I think my brother bought it for my Mum to watch a few years ago.

Not sure if it has been shown over here but I'd like to see the 2000-2002 Australian soap 'Something In The Air'

You'll find all of Flamingo Road on Dailymotion. I tried watching it and made it through the first season and a few episodes into season two but started to find it a bit boring. I was really looking forward to watching it but I found it to be more episodic than I expected.

I watched some of The Cedar Tree on YouTube last year but there doesn't appear to be as many episodes available now. I found it to be very quaint and charming and somewhat addictive. It's kind of like a low budget Downton as a lot of the characters are in a similar mould - the outspoken grandmother, stately father, three daughters at various stages of rebellion.

I would love to see this too as there's only a few clips of it online. ITV were interested in airing it but they were only willing to buy a year's worth of episodes and the deal fell through.

Also on the Aussie soap front, I'd love to watch shortlived 90's soaps Pacific Drive and Breakers. I actually watched Breakers when it originally aired but I'd love to see it again. Pacific Drive was meant to be the Aussie answer to Melrose Place. There's a few bits of it on YouTube but I haven't seen anything aside from those.

Staying in the 90's, Sky One / Channel 4 supernatural soap Springhill is one I plan to buy if they ever release series two on DVD. Series one has been released but I'm hesitant to buy it when (a) it's so expensive and (b) I'll be left hanging halfway through.

Thanks for the info CPW4EVER. I did wonder if Something In The Air had been on in the UK.

You're welcome. The producer said that they were hesitant about only selling a year's worth of episodes to ITV rather than a long term deal as they were afraid they'd have trouble finding another UK broadcaster if ITV dropped the show after the initial run. Then they ended up with no UK broadcaster at all and the show was cancelled. The producer now regrets not giving ITV what they wanted as he feels that having a British broadcaster on board might have strengthened the show's chances of being saved from cancellation.

Kitkat, I think you and I are of a similar vintage. I remember watching Crown Court when I was off school as well. I also remember Flamingo Road - I thought Morgan Fairchild was impossibly beautiful. As for Mark Harmon -possibly first crush right there. Oh no, wait maybe that was Larry Lamb in Triangle...couldn't take my eyes of him when he rocked up in Eastenders. Don't think I'll ever forgive Stacey for killing him...

I think that I should buy some of the dvds of classics such as Falcon Crest (gorgeous Lance and formidable ex-Mrs Reagan). Dallas, I've seen most of it at least twice but Knots Landing could do with a revisit. I never really got into Dynasty but I remember preferring the first Stephan from series one to his replacement.

Although Sunset Beach was hilariously bad, nothing beats Santa Barbara in my opinion. The dodgy, shaking sets...the mysterious appearance of Channing's 'dead' mother in disguise in every episode. Sheer class... I gotta 're-watch this!

Thanks for this thread OP - ah, the memories.

I wish a tv channel would reshow The Sullivan's. I loved that show, but can't afford to buy the Australian DVD's on ebay. Any spare cash I get, goes on my family tree research these days.

My threads always bomb as bad as a Paris Hilton movie does at the box office so I am glad to see this thread has made it past two or three posts.

I really think they should do a soap channel. In america, they had soapnet. Which shut down sadly but they had all the american soaps you could think of and me and my mother pretty much lived on that channel.
