Who's praying that we get a really good Rock or Indie singer this year?

And I don't mean of the Pop varieties either, I want a Rocker that can do Nu Metal/Industrial type of Music, and I want an Indie Rock type of singer that would be in the vain of Luke Friend from series 10.

Does anyone else want proper alternative acts that get alternative song choices in the new series?

i would prefer to see the best singers make the live shows regardless of what genre they sing

too many fans seem to want second rate artists just because they sing their preferred genre or tick a certain demographic

i'm a fan of the genres you specify but i dont want to see someone who isn't very good at those genres just to tick a box

You can't have an Indie singer on X-Factor.

If they're on X-Factor they're not Indie.

in the OP's defence i think he was talking about a musical style rather than being on an indie label

what the OP always seems to overlook when he raises this subject is people that are serious about doing that style of music and are good at it wouldn't go near a karaoke, 15 minutes of fame, reality show like the XF

so the only acts we get on the show doing anything close to that sort of style tend to be doing a very watered version of that style or just crap

Evenn if someone turns up at auditions as a genuinely decent rock singer, we all know they'll be in double denim doing a p*ss poor version of Summer Of 69 by week 3

American Idol had a guy called Bo Bice who I loved, great rock voice - so yes I'd like to see someone like him.

I'm a big reggae fan, so it'd be nice to see someone of that genre too.

I'm not a rock fan but I loved Bo Bice. He was a really authentic bluesy type rock singer who could sing proper R&B.

American Idol do seem to do genre specific acts an awful lot better than we do in talent shows over here. They have proper rock/soul/blues etc singers who stay true to their roots rather than letting themselves be watered down to please the tea time viewers

AI has tended to have judges, that are completely beholden to the show or to the record company for their careers, so they can be a bit more independent about their choices and their critiques

That's so true.

Problem is, X Factor thinks rock is Meatloaf or Status Quo! So even if someone authentic came along, they'd ruin it.

Not really a rock fan myself. Would rather see jazz and reggae represented on the show, but its unlikely to happen.

Not saying much, AFAIK producers are trying their best to find the most interesting acts to put in front of Judges. This year they have to compete with The Voice, but the Voice has the extra advantage of 7 months or so with 15-16 year olds who can't audition for XF.

Well of course I want good ones of those types to come along, I'd not want them on just for the sake of it.

The show will ruin any sort of credibility this show has with this sort of artist - see: Janet Devlin singing "Mmmbop" a few years ago.

which is why an act that is in one of the genres the OP mentions, that is any good and wants to retain any credibility, wont go near the show

But I would want the show to redeem themselves and not give them Mmmbop or Rocket Man, or Moondance, or Call Me to sing.

Or Ben Haenow's performances full stop with the exception of Highway To Hell.

I don't pray but I have my fingers crossed that we get more variation than the normal screeching divas belting out Whitney / Hudson / Beyonce / Mariah bollocks.

I am a lover of Rock & Reggae and would love for these in their actual style to be on X Factor, instead of the usual BS, of R'n'B & wrist slitting covers that are slowed down to the style of a John Lewis advert.

Also I would love to see Black contestants both Male & Female to perform different music genres instead of being stereotyped into doing the the same old sh!t.
