Early viewing figures will be up but then it will sink to new lows being thrashed week on week by Strictly. Put the thing down now.

Nicole will attract many many viewers and i imagine from ages across the board.

Regardless, very unprofessional to drop her commitment to the show.”

The money is probably a lot better, and as Lloyd Webber said, she's far more well known here than in the US. Cats might have finally propelled her in the US, but X Factor will boost her UK profile and following on from Cats in the West End, she'll end up with more work there and will probably end up with more Broadway opportunities anyway. Plus I'm sure she's still signed to Sony, so Simon might be pulling a few strings there too.

It just shows how ignorant and big Simon's ego is.

i think it shows more just how unimaginative and desperate he is

last year was the right direction for the show bringing in new blood, it was just the wrong people, and rather than try to just fix that mistake he is taking the show backwards and it will just turn into a panto again

people forget quickly just how bad sharon was last time she was on the show and that most weeks she looked like she had been on her "special tea" and sharing it with nicole

They've been trying the same thing for years and it hasn't worked. On the two occasions where they've brought judges back, there has been an uplift in the ratings, although it quickly tails back off by the live shows. On the three occasions with new judges, the ratings have fallen. This is the panel they should have had in 2014. The programme is crying out for stability, they're bringing back a few faces that are all 'legendary' judges in their own right and as a unit are tried and tested. They're just playing it safe this year after last years disaster, but whether it works or not only time will tell.

the show has been stagnating for a few years, at best this panel is the equivalent of treading water when the ship is sinking, not sure thats a good strategy.

i know you put the word legendary in commas but louis walsh at his best doesn't merit that tag and given he hasn't had an original thought for about 20 years, he is well past his best. sharon osborne isn't far behind.

even having said that i dont actually think it matters that much at this point who the judges are, the problem is that everything is so scripted and predictable. i want to see judges who aren't afraid to tell an act thats crap the truth, simon used to do that, now he only does it to try and create drama rather than when its justified.

You want judges that tell acts they're crap but slate Sharon.

She's the one person who's worked with Simon who isn't afraid to go against him/the producers and do what she wants.

Nicole is an idiot. She turned down Broadway for X Factor! She's mad. Yes XF probably offered her a hell of a lot more money, but career wise Cats on Broadway would have done a lot more for her, especially her credibility.

Louis should not be back, some people miss him for nostalgia, but in reality he is simply not entertaining at all. Simon is too manipulative and not as entertaining as he once was. They need a big name on that panel and a new format or it will just be like watching an x factor re-run YET AGAIN.

Oh please, she follows the script like they all do. She is the drunken middle aged auntie who gets drunk at family weddings and makes a complete exhibition of herself trying to dance with the grooms pals. She is there for the "entertainment" value they think she has. You really think they would keep bringing her back if she was such a rebel?

She is unpredictable but I wouldn't call her a rebel. She knows exactly how to play the game and part of that is to do what she's told.

Mel B and to an extent Dannii are the only ones where I get the impression that at times, they did things Simon didn't like and he lost a bit of control. But they've both worked with Simpj following their stints on X Factor UK, albeit on shows that don't appear to be as contrieved.

The 'new' set of judges are all extrovert personalities and Sharon & Nicole especially are unpredictable, but ultimately they all know how to play the game because they've all been doing this for years.

i think your definition of unpredictable is a bit different from mine

trying to be controversial because they have been told to try and create a bit of faux drama isn't being unpredictable

Pleased Nicole is back because she's my all-time favourite judge. I'm fine with Sharon too because her and Nicole have good chemistry. Plus they're both fabulous and entertaining ladies- which is exactly what Cheryl/Rita weren't.

Cheryl/Rita may be more 'current', but they were incredibly dull; whilst at least Nicole/Sharon are fun to watch.

Not a big Louis fan, and would rather they found somebody new- heck they could've just moved Olly to the panel- he was always more suited to being a judge than a host.

Cannot stand Sharon or Louis. My ideal judging panel would be Simon Cowell, Alexandra Burke, Peter Andre and Nicole Scherzinger. Or even bring back Gary Barlow...

wouldn't peter andre be the perfect judge for the x factor

he has one mind-numbingly poor "summer hit" then embarks on a life in reality TV as a z-list celebrity

I think Simon, Louis, Sharon and Nicole will be the best judging panel the show has had. All fun, all charismatic, all love the show and the acts, and I imagine will get on really well.

Guess were in for another round of the old cliche songs weve heard 10000000000 times i wonder if william hill are taking bets on someone singing " i have nothing "'or or or " let it go" uhh i could go on. There is no doubt Simon is the main influence behind tge show as it has barely changed over the years... Hall mark of a very stubborn ego...Strictly destroys Xfactor in the ratings each year. This year im tempted to switch channels to find out why. TBH you can pretty much sum up how the entire series will pan out around bootcamp time as it is already apparent by then who Cowell's favourites are. This is why he should not be a judge any longer.

Expecting these categorys then.

I think they'll have 4 each
Simon - BOYS (Change from Overs 4 once)
Sharon - GIRLS
Louis - OVER 25S
Nicole - GROUPS (She was in Pussycat dolls so probably)

Also heard that 6 seat challenge COULD be axed, if it isn't, I hope for an 8 seat challenge.

I'm betting on a ratings bonanza this year with Louis, Nicole and Sharon all back. This is going to be huge. I can't wait for the fireworks to begin.
