Hi Everyone, Just wondered if this is possible as the Sky Q box only has and HDMI out?
(or maybe a mini box)

As I understand it (never having really seen one) it also has a composite video out as well, which could feed a DVD recorder.

No it doesn't. No analogue output connections at all.
If you need to feed a dvd recorder you will need the following:
One HDMI splitter (one to feed HDMI to the tv, one to feed converter below) with hdcp removal (you will have to buy a cheap Chinese made one and see if it does - some do, some don't)
One hdmi to scart (or composite) adapter to feed the dvd recorder. Some of these have hdcp removal, but again some don't. If it does, you won't need it in the splitter above).
Some leads to connect it all up.

It would appear that the sky q mini box has a 3.5mm jack plug socket which does have video out, and left + right audio, so this could be used to connect to a dvd recorder.
However, finding a lead could be difficult. If your dvd recorder has phono inputs, this MIGHT work

Or if its scart only, then the above lead plus this adaptor:

I can't guarantee it will work as I don't know how sky have connected up their socket!

Unless Sky have done something truly off beat with their wiring then about the only thing that might require some head scratching is determining which of the three phonos is video and which of the remaining two is left audio and which right audio. But regardless of which plug carries which signal the lead should work even if the colour coding doesn't match up.

Thanks guys I have this all working now.
Powered hdmi splitter and a powered hdmi to scart converter have done the trick. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Not if you live near a pound shop. Triple phono plug to 3.5mm jack with 4 contacts are readily available for, well £1.

It's a standard lead, commonly used on cam-corders.
