CS...Gail
Where are they going with her? Why have they turned her into a simpleton?
It's cringey watching her act like an idiot these days

She's always been like it lol. I actually find it quite amusing, especially when she acted the scenes with Michael while looking at old family photos.

She's always been a scatterbrain and someone who's makes rash decisions (so many weddings), but she's turned into a complete caricature.
She doesn't work as a comedy character. Why has she adopted a sickly-sweet, simpering tone to her voice? Why must she always be belittled by Audrey when it comes to family events, or treated like dirt by David? Hard to believe this is the same Gail who took no nonsense from her family, and pushed Richard Hillman to the point of confessing. It's OK for a one-off storyline (getting mugged by Louis was brilliant), but it's about time the writers gave her a proper storyline. |

They did the same with Deidre and now to an extent Sally. I find Sal to be abhorrent now, she's completely panto.

Putting her with Tim is the reason for that. If Kate Oates wants to get in my good books she should split them up and get her back with Kevin.
Tim's the only good thing about her character now!! |

The simpering over Michael is just diabolical, and I am one of the few who liked them together!! If Kate Oates wants to get in MY good books she will restore characters like Gail, Eileen, Maria & yes even Sally to their former personalities instead of the ridiculous (Gail), obnoxious (Eileen), nondescript (Maria) & oh so one dimensional (Sally) characters they have become under the Blackburn regime!! |

Sometimes it's funny but I can't imagine being able to take Gail seriously again. I guess the Callum discovery and Kylie's exit might help tone her comedy act down a bit

Absolutely not! That would be such a step back. Sally and Tim are the only good thing about Corrie. Give them a baby!!

My own suggestion would be put Tim and Anna together - They're more compatible and they have a daughter in common. A bit of comedy with Tim would make Anna less of a miserable character, Kevin and Sally belong together, meanwhile. |

She's bit to old for a baby but unfortunately knowing Kate "Soap Destroyer" Oates she would try something like that. |

Sarah even hid her pregnancy from her because she was terrified of her reaction. Also don't forget Nick he secretly married Leanne because he was scarred of Gail. They mellowed Gail in 2006 when David became a psycho. |

Kevin and Sally should stay apart. Believe it or not people do in real life. They move on. I can at least credit the producers with acknowledging this and not having a predictable reunion between the pair of them.

As for Gail I'm sure there was a brief moment tonight when she was shouting and we heard her normal voice. |

Yeah, I agree with you - The Sally/Tim pairing seem to have a bit of a fan base, but it feels a bit like clutching at straws to me as the shows form continues to drag.
My own suggestion would be put Tim and Anna together - They're more compatible and they have a daughter in common. A bit of comedy with Tim would make Anna less of a miserable character, Kevin and Sally belong together, meanwhile. That would be a nightmare! Anna is an awful character, Tim and Sally shouldn't be sacrificed to redeem her. And as for Sally and Kevin belonging together, well the last 25 years have disproved that. Affairs, multiple separations, many other partners... If that's what true love is, you can keep it. Sally and Kevin are finally in a good, realistic place and getting them together would be a massive backwards step imo. Last edited by BlondeGremlin : 12-05-2016 at 07:44. Reason: Oops |

She hasn't. Gail used to be very bad tempered a strict with her children.

She was ditzy back in the 70s, she can be tough if she needs to be, but she has always been a little kooky at times, her marriage to Brian made her grow up a bit, especially when she had little Nicky, but she has always had that underlying girly girl simple demeanour.

I think the reason Sally seems one-dimensional to people is that the writers are relying on her and Tim so heavily for comedy. The solution to that is to give us more couples that can bring the laughs and take some pressure off them. But absolutely keep them together.
As for Gail, I genuinely think she's gone doolally from all the things she's been through. |

This is a woman that went toe to toe with Ivy Tilsley for years and years. She came out of it the other end on top - she's no pushover. She is like a totally different character these days. |

Gail was a very feisty young woman; she even stood up to Ivy Tilsley. Kate Oates has made her the village idiot; her scripts and facial expressions are cringemaking. Dare we hope that the new producer will put this right?
