Best Hill walking GPX/KML viewer (android)
Hi,
I'm looking for an offline map that can read GPX/KML files.. AFIAK Google maps cant read them, MAPS.ME are supposed to but all I get is a pin on the map with no route. Google earth does read them but the route is so feint it will be impossible to read outdoors...I found the same thing with Locus Map free.. GPX viewer works but can it use offline maps from Google or Maps.Me ?? edit: It seems GPX viewer saves images/maps when online in a cache but cant access google's or Map.me's offline maps. Anyone found anything that works!? |

Another alternative would be Viewranger, if you need 'proper' offline OS maps. I've been using it for years and find it indispensable. It handles GPX files well, but I think KML files may need to be converted to GPX before they can be uploaded.

OsmAnd looks perfect for my needs, well It would be if I could find the 'tracks' folder to import the GPX files!!

I think it might depend where you chose to have things to, the path can be checked in Settings > General Settings > scroll down to see the Data Storage Folder. |

I've never used the tracks, but the folder seems to exist for me under: internal memory > osmand > tracks
I think it might depend where you chose to have things to, the path can be checked in Settings > General Settings > scroll down to see the Data Storage Folder. ![]() The only thing I've found that looks osmand related are /sdcard/osmdroid/tiles (which contains a Mapnik.zip file only) & /sdcard/android/data/net.osmand/files (which was empty) This was via ESfile explorer with 'hidden files' checked ! I even recorded a new GPX file which is saved somewhere but again cannot be found, the only way of opening the saved GPX's is to find them via ESfile explorer and 'open with' Osmand which will have to suffice, but it would be nice to dump all the files in the appropriate place in one go! |
