Looks rather good - apparently the leap of faith right at the end of the trailer is a real person doing it for real !

There's a fan made cut of this trailer where it's exactly this footage, but in place of Kanye West you have the Auditore family theme, and it makes the entire trailer seem infinitely better without the jarring hip hop music.

Sort of reminds me of Prince of Persia.

Well I never said it was a good thing

I don't think the trailer has helped sell the film to me, along with the awful music.

Well I quite liked it

I'm hoping it isn't a turkey - it's been a bit of a personal project of Fassbender for quite some time and I'm kind of hoping, with his reputation as a bit of a "serious" actor, he wouldn't commit to a bomb.

I watched the "No Kanye" version of the trailer ..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z68dQAqXUGQ

.. and I do agree it's much better.

Was never that interested in the game, I never did understand the premise. Trailer looks decent and Fassbender is one of my favourite actors. Though bless him, he still can't do accents to save his life

Hmm. Not bad but rather hokey.

Was that giant mechanical arm holding Fassbender meant to reflect a human arm/game controller?

I liked the trailer apart from the awful music that was so out of place!

Although the trailer still just looked like an advert for the game myself

Oh if Assassins Creed is out on December 21st then it will get destroyed at the box office by Star Wars: Rogue One being released a week or so before it!

The trailer was fantastic. I can't stop watching it.

Yes, it's an awful song choice but people need to get some perspective - the song won't be in the movie.

I imagine they've used a bit of artistic licence with the animus and it's now the giant arm rather than the glorified chair/bed that it has been in the games.

The release date is rather unfortunate as well. They should either bring it forward a month or put it back a month to at least give it a chance.

Not sure if that's an issue. Doubtless Rogue Squadron will be huge, but we've seen before that big films can co-exist at the box-office.

One thing though: I'm not all that familiar with the games, but a quick Youtube check and it's obviously caught the look of them well enough. But don't expect too much Assassin stuff in Assassin's Creed...

Trailer 2 is here.

Could we finally have the definitive video game adaptation for cinema ?

Looking forward to watching this.

I am always nervous when it comes to Game to Film conversions, but the trailer does look really good. I have noticed that the BBFC haven't yet given a rating for the film, hopefully they won't cut it to something like a 12.

I'm also quite hesitant for the same reasons as you, but I'm sort of equally as confident as well because I don't think Fassbender would commit to something that could be a turkey.

And they've assembled quite a cast as well, so I'm also hopeful that a cast full of oscar winners wouldn't go in to something like this lightly.

It's a PG-13 in the US which is quite promising as well as that often means a 15 rating in the UK, which would probably be the target audience for the games anyway.

Yes it has got a really good cast, but then saying that, Jeremy Irons was in Dungeons & Dragons, which I enjoyed but many didn't. That is brilliant about the rating in the US, that gives me more hope.

Early reviews are less than favourable.

I saw that - listened to bits and bobs of a few last night and the majority have said it's terrible, but it's certainly not putting me off seeing it.

Pure Facepalm.

One review has said roughly only 30% of the film is set in the past.

Oh well at least the curse of the video game isnt going to be broken by a shit company like Ubisoft.

30% isn't that terrible though, if that's the case. I guess you have to consider the fact that they need to establish the backstory because not everyone is going to have played the games.

That said, if it's 30% spread over the whole film with small sections here and there then it might not be so good.

It's that 30% that's selling it too.

This review seems slightly more balanced ..

Assassin's Creed review: Stunning visuals rescue a script penned by Reddit

This may be the best video game adaptation ever made - though that's not exactly saying much
http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-en...-a7484781.html

Although ..

Assassin's Creed is faithful to the spirit of its origins to the point of reflecting its enduringly most tedious aspect: the feeling that every moment spent in the present day is but a dull interlude rushed through to return to the thrills of the past. The only problem here: that dull interlude is actually the majority of the film's running time.
and ..

Assassin's Creed's historical scenes are segregated too by the fact they're entirely in Spanish; which may seem a ludicrous risk for a major studio to take with a film, but it pays off beautifully - adding the necessary grit of authenticity to such wistful tales of creeds and brotherhoods.

I will be giving it a watch, but will wait until it comes out on DVD, not because of the reviews but because it has been given a 12A rating, such a shame really that it has been made a kiddie friendly film.

12A is a bit of a bugger but still not enough to put me off seeing it at the cinema.
