Maybe, that when asked on the show, they said they'd only just started performing together yet they entered a talent contest about 4 years ago.
(plus the sob story didn't help either - and the fact that the judges were primed to ask the question about her husband)

I agree that it does seem ludicrous to expect the audience at home to not use google and YouTube to look these people up. Granted the audience at the auditions won't have had that opportunity, but those of us at home... I mean, c'mon.
