Shame they killed off Salvatore Conte so early. I found him an increasingly intriguing character and I wanted to see more of him.

This show really is brutal. It is kind of refreshing not to have a single 'heroic' protagonist to root for. Every single main character is a different shade of awful.

Agree about Conte, I loved the way it showed his deep religion juxtaposed with his ruthlessness.

This is probably a stupid question, as I may not have been paying enough attention, but did Conte know that his girlfriend's 'sister' was a ladyboy when he went to bed with 'her'?

I believe he did, along with everyone else. Hence the minor issue with one of his crew at the birthday dinner.

Yes he knew, but he wouldn't have sex with her, due to his religious views I assume.

Yes, definitely. The 'ladyboy' WAS his girlfriend. The whole relationship with the sister was just a cover in front of his men. I thought it was an interesting, quite sad story.

Thanks for the replies, makes sense the more I think of it and yes it was a very sad and touching storyline.

Does anyone know if it's running double episodes for the whole series?

I hope so! One is never enough.

Yes, double episodes tonight and next week which takes us up to Ep 8 so I assume 9/10 and 11/12 will be shown as doubles as well.

Season 1 was 12 episodes so I'm guessing there will be 12 episodes this season too.

Yes, there are twelve episodes in the second series. And these are shown by Sky Italia as double episodes with Sky UK then airing them the following night.

Another couple of cracking episodes especially the second one - i reckon its going to get very messy by the end but fingers crossed there will be series 3

I didn't get the thing with the 3D printed gun.

If they could get a bullet into the hotel room why couldn't they get a (normal) gun in as well?

Didn't he fly to the meet location? Airport security?

It would be untraceable possibly and as testcard mentioned it would get through airport security.

Another avid fan of this series btw!

I especially loved the scene when Gennaro finally confronts Ciro, it was almost cinematic, no it was cinematic, these two monstrous yet intriguing characters, were terrifying yet mesmerising to watch and i loved the way Ciro said that noone would stand in his way, he killed his own wife, that should have been a warning for Gennaro to shoot him right there, it was a great scene, intense the way Ciro knelt down almost mocking Gennaro to shoot him.

I wonder if Gennaro is playing the long game here? and will it back-fire with Ciro constantly needling away at their empire, he's too wily not to plan for every eventuality.

It's cat and mouse and i don't know who will ultimately gain power.

The cinematrography is spectacular, i love the interwining cavernous locations used to show the frenetic underground of this world...i could go on but roll on another two episodes, great tv

But that doesn't explain the real bullet passing these checks, which I believe was Moleskin's question.

The women in this show...good grief!

The bullet was hidden in a tube of toothpaste or something similar which presumably blocked the security scanner.

The bullet didn't go through security, it was put in Gennaro's hotel room by one of his Dad's associates, my question is why they couldn't have smuggled a gun in there too.

The only thing I can think of is that Don Aiello and his men who were acting as neutral guarantors were checking stuff in the hotel.

The tension leading up to the Genny/Ciro confrontation was brilliantly executed. Deep down I was pretty sure that even this show would not kill off their main star this early in the game but they still managed to make the whole thing extremely tense.

That alley kid, Trak, is a real piece of shit. Even in a programme full of morally bankrupt characters he manages to stand out.

I was worried Malamore was going to get took out for good. I'm really hoping he's gives Trak his comeuppance later in the series

Tremendous stuff and agree about the way the tension built up as Ciro and Gennaro eventually met up.

Great location shots as well showing the opulence and spectacular buildings of Rome contrasted against the ghastly blocks of flats in run down part of Naples.

Fantastic characters in what is one of the best tv shows I've ever watched.

Does anyone know what episode it is in series one where Don Pietro is in prison and organises and conducts the riot?

I know I've asked this before but are there no police in Naples? Even corrupt ones?
Moleskin

No you don't see the police very often.

Another two good episodes this week although there was a massive plot hole in the second one, Pietro would have shot panther guy the same time as The Prince, no way would he have left a witness behind.
