EE-Peggy Should Have Had A Better Scene With Sharon
Really thought the scene was a letdown. I thought she would have had harsh words with Sharon.

It was rushed and scenes with Peggy Mitchell and Kathy Sullivan was scrapped altogether,
Dominic Treadwell - Collins was just selfish and didn't want to give up his fanfare exit plot to anyone else. He was a good producer but sometimes he made some crap decisions. Character interactions just aren't important anymore it seems. |

She should have had a better exit full stop. Big letdown IMO.

I agree. I almost hate that she spent time with Linda. Martin, Ian, Sharon there were people around to ,say goodbye but not used.

It really wasn't that bad.
I would have liked one final row with them before they each decided to let bygones be bygones but the scene we did get was really nice I thought. Perhaps the writer thought Sharon and Peggy going at it hammer and tongs with Peggy at death's door would be a bit much, and opted for something understated instead. The moment where they both looked up at the singing bird in the tree was beautifully shot I thought. And I was determined to hate any corny 'passing of the baton' scene between these two but that won me over. I mostly liked the exit in spite of it being over with as quickly as it started. Until we hear otherwise, I'm still putting that down to Barbara Windsor's recent aversion to learning lots of lines and heavy schedules. She hasn't taken back her comments that this was planned with her input or said that she wanted to return for longer from the off. There are things I would have done differently eg. included the scene that was apparently shot with Kathy, which to me is the biggest missed opportunity, and l might've included a couple of heart to hearts with Ben and Billy as well, but not having these is not enough to detract from scenes we did get which packed a punch / the exit as a whole. |

It was a touching final scene. I would've liked to see one final showdown between the pair, but I don't know how appropriate it would have been to see Sharon haranguing a frail, dying woman. I wouldn't have been comfortable with that. Peggy and Sharon finally buried the hatchet, which is what we all wanted.
I think they could have spread Peggy's exit out over two full weeks, and included scenes with Kathy, Ben etc. But I'm happy with what we got. To be honest, the best thing about it was seeing Pat again. |

Thought it was a good scene. Sharon was last person Peggy spoke to.

I would have liked more and its a shame they skipped anything with Kathy but the scene with Sharon was nice and understated. It's very strange how rushed Peggy's exit has been though.

What's done is done little point in keep going over it saying how Peggy should have had better scenes with or more scenes with this or that character.

I agreee.
I really thought Peggy was going to be around longer. Sharon and Peggy scene was a quick box ticking excersize. That said I think Sarah Phelps did a wonderful job with the obviously limited time had and we got some brillant performances from Steve McFadden |

I have to laugh at the fact that a scene between pointless Kathy and Peggy was scrapped yet Peggy had a full scene with Stacey. It is obvious which character TPTB prioritize.

Peggy should've shown up at Phil's wedding and had one last catfight with Sharon. Then it wouldn't have mattered if they had limited time together in Peggy's final stint. That said, I liked the scene and it was a great way to pass the Mitchell matriarch torch to Sharon.
I am disappointed there was nothing with Kathy and how rushed the whole thing was. The reunion of Peggy with her boys was underwhelming and flat. The stuff with Phil during and after Peggy's death made up for it but Grant's return was a fart in a storm. |

The shoehorned scene with Linda should have been cut out and replaced with the Kathy scene. I honestly don't remember Peggy being close to Stacey or Dot at all. Those scenes jarred but at least Peggy knew those characters over the years unlike Linda. |

Phelps wouldn't have written a scene in the first place if she didn't feel Kathy had any place in the storyline. On the whole I liked Peggy's exit but most of her one-on-one scenes didn't go beyond surface level - her scenes with Phil being the exception. I imagine this was more of the same hence it being expendable. It seems obvious they were stuck for time. I would like BW to clarify either way if she was happy to do more than six episodes, then we'll know if people are right for blaming DTC. I still think initially she was happy with that based on the fact she has only made cameos in recent years. |

Well, we've known that for a long time anyway.

Remember her appearing by Pat's bedside clutching a bible? The scene with Linda was her passing over the baton of being the Queen Vic landlady. Not that she really needed to do that as the Carters had been running the Vic for two years. And Linda's been in the pub game her whole life. When people say they shouldn't have had this or that in relation to Peggy's exit (often regarding what were short scenes anyway) I wonder why they don't mention Stacey, Belinda and Co shifting those toilets back into Jack's place. |

She wasn't close to Stacey but I suppose they wanted to address Archie in some way since it was a part of both their exits in 2010.

I didn't mind the Linda scene because it made sense: the old landlady and the new landlady. And it was brief. I'd had nightmares about Mick throwing a karaoke party for Barbara Winds - sorry - Peggy's exit from the show.
Peggy was never close to Dot, in fact Dot has never much liked the Mitchells, however I did find their final scene very touching. The scene with Stacey was unnecessary and did feel shoehorned. It's a shame that Kathy and Peggy didn't get a final farewell, but I don't believe this is down to the inclusion of scenes with other characters. Sometimes scenes just don't quite work, and perhaps this was one they didn't have time to rewrite or reshoot so it was dropped. I get the impression quite a few scenes were cut, which is why we ended up with toilet-gate. DTC had obviously lined up a showdown with Claudette, and probably some other scenes, but Babs just probably didn't feel up to it. She has mentioned many times that she struggles with long days and remembering her lines. |

Made a change for them to go for quality rather than quantity.

I actually thought the 'stolen toilet conga' was funny and added humour to something that could have been maudlin and depressing if not for that.

I thought that scene was a hallucination. It looked and felt like one. Why would the square be empty when a party is at the vic. It was a bizarre scene that did not feel real.
