Nope, I think this was Kellie's chance.

Mark just asked her if this would encourage her to open her own restaurant ... she replied "of course not, I don't have the finances ....

I'll be there.

Mind you I don't think we'll have much trouble convincing everyone. Terry will have driven everyone off with his bitching.

IMHO Terry tried to get the viewer's sympathy by going on (and on ....and on......) about "how hard it was coming from Oop Nerth".....(could almost hear him saying "we live in cardboard box int'road and eat gravel for us teas")

and yet....I am thinking Newcastle....might have "depressed" areas after the closure of the coal mines etc but having been to Bigg market and seen the money spent in bars and clubs at the weekend

and the new bridge

and Newcastle Utd - not exactly a poor man's footie team
the 2nd biggest ground in the country

and Terry was going on about how "downtrodden" it was up North.......

Disappointed- thought Terry really lost it in the final. He was complaining about his helpers and seemed to lose control whereas Kellie kept her cool even after with being faced with freezers breaking down and a totally unexpected request for a completely vegan meal. Her kitchen helpers were kept happy and organised as well and her results were good. I really think the final was more a sympathy vote for Terry than a balanced vote for the one who could do the best job!

I saw it coming in the final episode.

The editing made Terry look like a "rags to riches" story of a people's champion who wanted to fulfil a dream and be seen to have been on a "journey", while the Kellie edits made it look more like she was desperate to win.

I'm not saying this as bitterness or anything, I liked it that Terry won.
But I wouldn't have minded if Kellie won.

These things are always fixed.
Not so much as to predetermine a winner, and I'm not suggesting they fix the phone votes,....but fixed in a way to make viewers just phone in and vote.

Throughout the series it was made to look like Kellie was the favourite, but it's tweaked at the end to make Terry looked like the shock winner who has overturned the odds.

Did anyone see the extreme disappointment on Kellie's face at the point when Terry was announced as the winner?

If you can see the video again of that point, watch Kellie's face.
I've never seen the runner up of any reality TV contest ever look that gutted.
I wish we saw that kind of moment of reality at the Oscars.

Good grief, if the comments made by some FMs in this thread are typical of those who live in London and the surrounding areas, no wonder the poor guy felt like he has been in a foreign country for the last couple of weeks.

(a) Newcastle is not in Yorkshire. The two areas have their own distinct accents/dialects.
Incidentally, as with those who live in London and consider anywhere north of Watford to be ‘Up North’, some residents of Newcastle similarly believe that anywhere south of Darlington (such as Leeds) is ‘Down South’.

(b) Believe it or not, Geordies speak English, just like the majority of other residents of England, albeit with their own local accents. Why can’t those in London learn to understand the North East’s regional accents, as Geordies are required to understand London accents, including the cockney dialect?

(c) Newcastle is certainly not a depressed city these days. The last significant coal mining ended about 20 years ago, and the city has been rejuvenated since the closure around the same time of much of the major heavy industrial works in the area (shipbuilding, steelmaking, etc). Whilst Newcastle still has some pockets of deprived areas, as do all major cities in this country, Newcastle now has major modern office complexes housing financial/insurance companies that can easily compete with similar property/businesses in London. In addition, Newcastle also has £1mil+ modern penthouse apartments situated at the luxury marina and overlooking the Tyne to house those highly paid executives that are employed in the new, thriving industries within the city. Newcastle and Gateshead shopping facilities are considered to be one of the biggest and best outside of London.

(d) Despite the best efforts of local MPs, the North East is still largely ignored by the rest of parliament deciding policies and funding affecting England and Wales. I’ve even met some people who have never ventured north of Watford who believe Newcastle is in Scotland

(e) I guess it would be not too far wrong to suggest that there are as many of those who live in Newcastle who are just as pleased with the distance between Newcastle and London, as there are residents of London and the surrounding area that hold a similar view.

like to see an update in a few months time how Terry is doing , has the thing worked etc

blame JC for that imo. but continually telling her she was going to win...i'm afraid it looked like she was believing the hype. hence the tears...they were from someone who was crying with the anticipation of winning.
i have a feeling that the lack of cooking coverage , the bad critic reviews and the "i'm going to cook pub grub" statement all accelerated the downfall of kellie.
there's no denying she's a grafter, but, if all she wants to do is pub grub...maybe she should look into becoming a pub manager.
p.s. what about sam...running off from terry , then telling kellie that she couldn't stand terry and that she wanted kellie to win etc etc etc...that girl had so many sour grapes she had pips coming out of her bum !!!!!!

Speaking as someone who'll never ever vote in RTVs again,I'm convinced that Sam's bad behaviour really gave Terry extra votes near the end of the programme.I liked them both and would have been pleased/disappointed for each of them.

It was good television and I hope the series returns. Both JC and GR seemed keen to do it all again anyway.

Conspiracy theory #2,456,094:

I'm not a gambler, but I do watch the bookies odds during reality shows, they are not always accurate but are usually a good indicator.

Kellie was out and out favourite across the board from about day 3 and stayed in that position until Saturday night, when Terry's odds started to shorten alarmingly. If my theory is correct, the voting numbers were very small, it would more than possible fo a betting syndicate to influence the result. Betting on reality shows should be banned.

It's funny you should mention that. Because I was browsing one of the other reality TV forums, and somebody linked to a news article about another reality show, where it was suspected that something funny might have been going on.
The implication was that employees from the show might have been having a bit of a flutter.

I say bit of a flutter, but what I really mean is BIG money.

I think it might have been the Big Brother forum, can't remember offhand.

There is potential big money to be made from the bookies, whether the rumours of insider gambling are true or not.
