'EastEnders': New Producer Wields The Axe...
But none of the axed characters are being revealed... The new producer of BBC1 soap opera 'EastEnders' has reportedly axed several characters, it has been announced. However, none of the characters are being revealed, as it is thought that several will depart in a massive stunt early next year. Speaking at a press conference, new producer xItzDannyx commented: "The cast is pretty strong at the minute, but there are a few weak links. Obviously several characters haven't been well received, several characters are no longer needed and one or two actors have decided to leave their roles, which is something we have decided to honour. We've managed to convince departing star Charlie Brooks (who plays Janine) to stay on the show for at least another six months, however - with me wanting to (re)introduce some characters, we need space in the quite large cast list. The cast list currently has forty-nine regulars, two recurring and eleven children." "We CAN confirm that Adam and Nora White, played by Ben Wigzell and Lynn Farleigh respectively, are both leaving their roles as the son and mother, but whether or not other son Carl (Daniel Coonan) goes with them is being kept under wraps, as are the other departures." Ben Wigzell has played recurring character Adam White since 2012 "Meanwhile, we can confirm that Bobby Beale (played by Rory Stroud) has been recast, and is now being played by Eliot Carrington!" Bobby Beale is now being played by Eliot Carrington. The character has appeared since his birth in 2003 On the stunt, Danny said: "We don't want to turn the show into Hollyoaks with all of the stunts, but we feel that a big stunt can help freshen up the show. As well as helping provide a decent exit for several characters, the repercussions will be felt not only through the Square, but through the whole of Walford, for many months as businesses are destroyed and families are ripped apart!" "We can confirm that the stunt involves a train, and also involves the bridge that runs across Bridge Street...! That's all I can say, my lips are sealed..." So, what's coming up on Albert Square? "We've got a big storyline for Max, Kirsty, Carl, Lauren, Roxy and Ronnie, which I don't think you'll expect!" "One new-ish mother will find themselves facing heartbreak, but who's to blame?" "The Beale's will face heartbreak..." "Stacey Slater is returning to the show, and will mark a new era for the Slater's..." "Walford legend Dot will be receiving some new family members in the New Year." "Shirley's family will be explored, whilst two other new families will make their arrivals..." |

EPISODE 4771: Monday 23 December 2013
At "Butcher's Joints", Janine Butcher is sat in the office, her head in her hands and dark bags under her eyes. It is obvious that she hasn't slept, and is regretting confiding in David Wicks that she killed husband Michael Moon on Halloween. She sighs, looking down at the paperwork which is laid out on the desk, half-done. There is a knock at the door, and Janine's voice breaks as she calls to the knocker to come in. The door opens, and David enters, smiling softly. He whispers 'hey', and Janine sighs, before admitting that she doesn't want to talk about Michael. David shakes his head, telling her that he understands, but he just wanted to let her know that he isn't going to tell anyone. Janine pouts, before saying that she wishes she could believe him, but what has she got to go by? David says that he swears on his Mum's grave, and Janine presses her lips, before eventually whispering 'alright'. David smiles at her, before saying goodbye. David leaves, and as he closes the door behind him, he pulls out his phone and clicks onto his saved videos. He clicks on one and presses play, smiling as the video plays - Janine's confession from the other night... At Number 31, the Butchers' household, the kitchen is a hub of movement as the Butcher-Jackson-Spraggan family go about their morning routine. Café waitress Carol Jackson is buttering toast, whilst Tiffany, Morgan, Liam, TJ and Rosie are sat around the table, consuming various breakfast items. Taxi driver Terry enters. The kitchen is noisy as several conversations are going. Whitney enters, and greets them all, before putting the morning's post down on the table and passing Carol her letter, remarking that it looks important. Carol shrugs it off, saying that it's probably just bills, and Whitney frowns, before asking since when have bills had an NHS logo on the envelope. Carol sighs, before saying that she knows what it'll be, before lying that she's decided to done some blood as it's just being wasted in her "perfectly healthy body". Terry agrees with her, before announcing he has to get to work. He says goodbye to the kids, before saying goodbye to Carol and Whitney, just as girlfriend Bianca enters. Terry greets her with a kiss, before apologising and saying he's gotta go. Bianca sighs, before muttering that at least today's his last day until the New Year. Carol is staring down at the letter, not daring to open it. The loud kitchen becomes inaudible, with only Carol's breathing being hard, until Morgan repeats the word 'Nan', and Carol snaps back to reality, before apologising, and claiming she was away with the fairies. At "The Vic", Kat makes her way upstairs, calling for boyfriend/ex-husband Alfie. She frowns as there is no reply, and makes her way into the living room. She is confused to see Janine stood in the living room, with a glass of champagne in her hand, staring at the wall. 'Janine' Kat exhales, and Janine pouts, before claiming she just can't think properly. Kat frowns, before asking what she means, and Janine turns to face her, before apologising, and saying she's trying to decide what wall paper to have. She then says she's thinking pink, so that everyone knows it is her and Scarlett's palace. Kat cringes, before sarcastically remarking that Janine should have black, to match her soul. Janine pouts, before saying that she doesn't know why she was expecting better taste from Kat, who's always been a tasteless tart. Kat scoffs, opening her mouth to retaliate, but is interrupted by Janine's PA Billy, who is carrying several boxes into the living room. He greets Kat as he places the boxes down, before asking Janine if he can take a break, saying he's been carrying boxes for the past half an hour. Janine says he's got five minutes, and to make the most of it, as she wants the rest of her stuff up in The Vic. Billy sighs, nodding, before half-heartedly thanking her as Kat glares at Janine. Out on the market, Peter Beale is stood at the fruit and vegetable stall, talking to a customer, when Peter's secret girlfriend Lola strolls past, pushing daughter Lexi. Peter greets her as the customer leaves. He pulls her into a kiss, and she smiles, before asking how the stall's been. Peter grins as he announces it's been busy, before adding that everyone's getting ready for Christmas. Lola says that's good, and Peter nods, before asking what she's doing for Christmas. Lola shrugs, before saying 'me, Lexi, a Chinese, the Muppets'. Peter pouts, before asking if she's being serious, and Lola laughs, before saying no, and that they'll probably be going to Phil's, as usual. Peter nods, before saying he was just thinking how cool it'd be if their families spent Christmas together. Lola nods, and admits it'd be good, and Peter adds that it would be if Phil and Ian didn't hate each other's guts. Lola presses her lips, before suggesting they could think of something, and Peter nods pensively. At 55 Victoria Road, Phil is sat in the living room, watching Top Gear when cousin Ronnie enters the living room. Phil asks if she's alright, and Ronnie nods, before saying there's someone here to see him. Ronnie moves to the side, as Janine enters, smiling. Janine admits that she was hoping they could 'talk business', and Phil shrugs, before asking Ronnie if he'll excuse them. Ronnie sighs, leaving the living room as Phil pauses the TV and leads Janine over to the kitchen table. He sits down, as Janine also sits down, and pulls a folder out of her bag, containing several documents. She passes Phil one, and smirks, before telling him to sign. Phil frowns, and asks what it is, and Janine says it's her 40% of the club. Phil nods, quickly reading the document before signing. Janine presses her lips as she changes subject to The Vic. Phil nods, before explaining he's had another offer. Janine's face drops, as she exclaims that she was promised the pub. Phil shrugs, before saying if she wants the pub, she'll need a total of 400 grand by Christmas, and needs proof by the end of the day that she can raise the money before Christmas, otherwise he'll have to accept the other offer. Janine sighs as she considers her next move. At the B&B, Patrick is sat in a chair, watching Deal or No Deal. There is a knock at the front door, and Patrick heads over to open it. He smiles at Ian Beale, who is stood in front of him Patrick lets him in, before asking what he can do for him. Ian smiles, before saying he was actually hoping there was something he could do. Patrick frowns, and asks if it is to do with Denise, as Deal or No Deal is almost finished. Ian smiles, before insisting it won't take long. He awkwardly proceeds to tell Patrick that he wants to make a "romantic gesture" to Denise tonight. Patrick frowns, as Ian asks if that's OK, before saying he just wanted to check in case Patrick didn't want him to. Patrick nods, before stating that he's sure Denise will be thrilled. Ian grins, thanking Patrick, before adding 'I'm sure she'll love it'. Ian then leaves, leaving Patrick slightly worried... Back at "Butchers Joints", Jnaine is panicking, scrolling through the internet and attempting to come up with ways to find money. David enters, and smiles at Janine. David says hi, and Janine smiles before resuming her search. David asks what's 'got her sweating', and Janine sighs, before telling David about Phil's other offer, and about having to raise £250,000 - by Christmas! Janine then says she may as well just give up whilst she's ahead because she's never going to get that money. David tells her not to give up yet, before saying he's sure there's something they can do. He then suggests selling Janine's car, adding that he knows a guy who'd pay good money for a car like Janine. David then suggests they take some money out of the Butcher's Joints. He asks Janine if Michael left any money for Scarlett, and Janine asks him if he wants her to rob her own daughter. David shakes his head, saying it wouldn't be "robbing", just "borrowing". Janine smirks, before asking if David can speak to his friend whilst she heads to the bank. David nods, as Janine thanks him with a kiss on the cheek, before leaving. David smirks to himself, before dialling his friend's number. Back at No. 31, Rosie and TJ are opening their presents that mother Nikki has bought them. TJ thanks his Mum as he opens his Lynx set, and Nikki pulls him into a hug, before focussing on daughter Rosie, who is ripping her wrapping paper off. She gasps as she pulls out a monkey onesie. Rosie squeals that she loves it, before turning to Nikki and saying that she's the best. Bianca scoffs, and Nikki asks if there's a problem. Bianca shakes her head, before saying there isn't. Nikki says she seems to have one, and Bianca says that the only problem is Nikki. Nikki scoffs, as Terry attempts to defuse the situation. Bianca claims that it's blatantly obvious Nikki wants Terry back, and she's using their kids to do it. Nikki laughs, before saying if she wanted Terry back, why did he have to beg her not to leave him. Bianca goes silent. Outside of the living room, Carol is holding her letter, having gathered the strength to open it. A tear rolls down her cheek as reads it - she has an appointment for a mammogram on Christmas Eve. Exiting the living room, Morgan notices her tears, and questions her on it. Morgan asks why she's said, and Carol says she's not, she's just excited for Christmas. Morgan smiles, hugging her tightly, before saying if she needs anymore hugs, she knows where he is. Carol smiles, kissing his forehead. David is passing No 31 when the front door opens, and Morgan rushes out. Morgan calls David's name, and David frowns, asking him what's up. Morgan says he thinks Nan's a bit upset, before adding that she's saying she's fine, but he thinks she's lying. David opens his mouth to speak, however notices Janine. David says he'll be one minute, before rushing over to Janine, and giving her a file. Janine is confused, and David explains it is a signed proposal assuring Janine'll have the money by Christmas Day. Janine grins, thanking him before asking how he did it. David shrugs, before saying he pulled a few strings, managed to sell her car for a ridiculous price, and sold a few of his Mum's belongings as well. Janine asks what he sold, earrings and wild clothes? David chuckles, as Janine adds she just needs to find Phil. David smirks, before saying she already her. He points over at the Square gardens, where Phil is working towards them. Janine calls his name as David heads into the Jacksons'. He calls Carol's name, and Carol emerges from the kitchen, asking what's wrong. David frowns, and asks if she's alright. He adds that Morgan was a little worried about her. Carol sighs, saying she's told him she's fine. David nods, before saying if she's sure, and Carol says she's positive. Back out on the Square, Janine has passed Phil the document. Phil states the pub is hers, and Janine grins. Janine gasps, jumping up and down with excitement, clearly not knowing how to thank Phil. She squeals as she pulls Phil into an awkward hug. Phil pushes Janine away, clearly shocked by her out-of-character behaviour. Janine apologises, and asks if there really was another buyer, to which Phil taps his nose, before walking away, as Janine scoffs, feeling scammed. Lola calls for Peter to hurry as they rush over to Phil. Phil asks what they want, and Peter nervously says that they were wondering if the Mitchell's and Beale's could spend Christmas together. Phil asks if they'r etrying to cause World War Three, and Lola titters. Peter lies that it was Ian's idea, and Lola looks at Peter, confused. Peter winks at Lola as he notices Phil is beginning to consider it. However, he shakes his head, saying that he can see Peter's lying. Peter pleads with him, but Phil shakes his head. Lola says he's left them with no choice, and Phil frowns, confused. Lola says that if the Mitchell's and Beale's don't have Christmas dinner together, Phil doesn't get to see Lexi on Christmas Day. Phil sighs, struggling with Lola's ultimatum. Over at the B&B, newsagent Denise Fox enters, carrying several bags of shopping. She calls out to Patrick that she's home. Patrick is sat on the sofa, deep in thought, as Denise calls his name again. Patrick snaps out of his daydream, apologising, before saying he was thinking. Denise laughs as she asks if it's anything she can help with, and Patrick titters, before saying maybe. He then says it's about her, actually, before trailing off as Denise states that it doesn't sound too good. Patrick frowns, before saying that if he knew somebody was planning to do something, would she want her to tell him. Denise says she wouldn't if it's supposed to be a surprise, and Patrick asks if she still wouldn't want to know if he believed Denise wouldn't like it, and it may be about to cause upset. Denise pauses, before telling Patrick to just tell her. Patrick admits he thinks Ian is about to propose, as Denise gasps, before asking if he's being serious. Patrick nods, and Denise asks if he remembers what happened to her other husband, adding that Owen, Kevin and Lucas didn't exactly have the best time. Patrick shrugs, and Denise says that the ring must be hidden somewhere. Denise begins to move pillows and search around for it. Patrick attempts to intervene, but Denise shushes him, claiming it's here somewhere. The front door opens, and Ian enters, stopping as he notices Denise looking around. Ian asks what she's doing, before turning to face Patrick. He announces that he understands what's happening, before sighing, asking Patrick why he couldn't just keep quiet. Denise warns Ian not to shout at Patrick, claiming he was just concerned. Ian scoffs, before asking why Patrick is concerned that a professional chef is going to give her food poisoning. Denise frowns, before asking what he means, as Ian holds up a bag of shopping, saying he was going to cook a romantic dinner for the two of them. Denise glances at Patrick, before explaining Patrick thought Ian was going to propose. Ian shakes his head, before saying it's a little bit early for that. Denise smiles softly as Ian leaves the living room. However, once out of view, Ian pulls an engagement ring out of his pocket, and stares at it... Back at No 31, the family are burning their Christmas letters in a bucket in the front garden, due to not having a chimney. As Tiffany finishes burning her letter, Bianca smiles, pulling her into a hug. In the kitchen, TJ is finishing writing his letter. He smiles as he puts the pen down. Carol asks what he's doing as she enters the kitchen, and TJ tells her they're doing bucket burning outside. Carol nods, as she asks what TJ's says. TJ frowns, and says if he tells her, it won't come true. Carol laughs, before asking if he's not a little old to believe in that. TJ shrugs, and says maybe he is, but there's no harm in trying. Carol begins to make herself a cup of tea as TJ titters, placing his letter down on the table and smiling. As he makes his way outside, Carol frowns as she realises he has left his letter. She begins to call his name, but stops as she realises it has been left open. She reads it and smiles. The letter reads I JUST WANT EVERYBODY TO BE HAPPY. Carol sighs as she grabs a piece of paper, and begins to scribble. Outside, Terry is watching Liam burn his letter when he looks over at The Vic. Nikki is watching them, and Terry sighs, realising that Nikki will be spending Christmas with just her gay housemate Steven. Terry says hi to TJ as he joins them, before saying that Nikki'll be a bit lonely this Christmas. He then asks how he feels about spending Christmas day with her. TJ shrugs, agreeing, but Rosie pipes up, admitting she wants to as well. Terry frowns, clearly a bit upset. Back inside, Carol is stood in the kitchen alone, with a bucket and a match. She holds the letter above the bucket before grabbing a match. She sets fire to the letter before dropping it into the bucket, watching it burn. The letter reads I DON'T WANT TO DIE... And over at No. 27, Janine enters and places her keys down on the table. She calls David's name as she hears the TV playing. Janine calls that she's got to pick Scarlett up in about half an hour. Janine makes her way into the living room, and pauses as she sees David stood in front of her, holding his mobile phone. Janine frowns, asking what he's doing. David states that he knew she'd get him that money, and Janine frowns. Janine repeats David's words as a question, and David nods, pressing play on the phone. As Janine's confession to killing husband Michael Moon plays, Janine gasps. David admits he wants the money, or all of this is over. He then tells her everyone is going to find out what she did. David grabs a glass, and pours himself some vodka. He proudly cheers to the future, as Janine stares at him in disgust. However, outside, Morgan has heard everything, having came into the house via the back garden to speak to David again. He gasps, moving his head away from the wall, armed with the knowledge that Janine killed Michael... EPISODE 4772: Tuesday 24 December 2013 (Christmas Eve)
It is Christmas Eve on Albert Square, and Bridge Street Market is busy, as various customers rush around, attempting to get last-minute presents, decorations and food for Christmas. Peter Beale has gathered a huge line of customers, reaching down past several neighbouring stalls, all attempting to buy fruit and vegetables. Peter's girlfriend Lola Pearce remarks that he looks busy, and Peter smiles. He says that it's great, before thanking a customer and taking their money. Peter asks if Phil has said anything, and Lola sighs, saying that he's still "thinking". She adds that she really hopes he comes round, and Peter nods, before admitting he does, too. Lola gasps in amusement, pointing down the market as Lola's grandfather Billy Mitchell marches towards them, carrying a sign with Janine Butcher's face on it. He hands out leaflets to passing people, before smiling as he reaches Peter and Lola. Billy frowns as Lola asks what all of this is. Billy states it's Janine, and Lola rolls her eyes, claiming Billy does too much for her. Billy shrugs, before claiming that a job is a job, and that they need to pay the bills somehow. He then says goodbye to the couple. At No. 27, Janine is sat in silence, staring at the wall, a glass of champagne in her hand. Her cheeks are stained with tears, and she clearly has not slept properly as she has dark rings under her eyes. Janine sighs, standing up and pacing around the room before heading over to the window. She stares out at the Square, where David Wicks is walking. He looks in and grins at Janine. She shakes her head, and David smirks before walking off. Janine sighs, desperately trying to come up with a plan. She looks over at her daughter, Scarlett, who is sat on the floor watching TV. Janine rubs her hand through her hair as she attempts to come up with her next move. Over at The Vic, Kat Slater is stood behind the bar, serving Billy. Kat asks if Billy's heard anymore about who is definitely buying The Vic, and Billy nods, confirming it IS Janine. Kat presses her lips, before asking Billy to tell Janine they hope she's happy, taking their home and livelihoods. Billy pleads with Kat not to be like that, adding that Kat is just doing what's best for Scarlett. Kat asks what about Tommy, claiming he's grown up here, and now she's taking it all away from him. Kat sighs frustratedly, heading out into the hallway, where Alfie is wrapping presents for son Tommy. Kat asks what happened to the £50 limit, and Alfie shrugs. Kat sighs, before chastising Alfie, claiming she specifically told him not to go over £50, as they need every bit of cash they can get - they're not exactly rolling in it. She then adds they also need to find a flat by Thursday. Alfie is about to speak, when Kat's grandmother Mo interrupts him as she enters from the flat upstairs. Mo claims they don't need to find a flat, before saying they can move in with her at No. 23. Kat grins, thanking Mo with a hug. Alfie smiles as he also thanks Mo, before Kat turns to Alfie, saying she'll let him off this time, but not to push his luck. Alfie nods, holding his hands up before making his way into the bar. Mo asks Kat what she's got Alfie for Christmas, and Kat taps her nose, saying she's got something up her sleeve. Kat then enters the bar area, as Mo calls after her that she's got a little surprise as well! Over at No. 5, Lauren Branning is sat on the sofa, watching The Jeremy Kyle Show when her grandmother Cora Cross enters. She asks if Lauren intends to move off the sofa at all, and Lauren scoffs, sarcastically saying hi to her grandmother. Cora smiles sardonically before repeating her question. Lauren tells her to chill out, claiming it's not that late. Cora says it's ten to twelve, and Lauren shrugs, saying it's later than she expected. Cora stares at her, and Lauren groans, saying she'll get up. She leaves the living room just as somebody knocks on the front door. Lauren announces she'll get it, and Cora sits down at the kitchen table, pouring herself a glass of wine. Lauren re-enters, and Cora looks up. A grin forms on her face as Ava Hartman, Cora's recently-departed daughter, grins, chorusing "surprise" as Cora smiles, standing up to hug her daughter. Back at No 27, Janine opens the door to see David stood on the doorstep. David smiles, as Janine nervously asks if he wants to come in. David shakes his head, saying that there's no need, as he's just heading over to Carol's. Janine nods, as David says he wanted to make sure Janine knows that what he said the night before was not a joke - he really wants that money, else the Police find out what she did. Janine stares after him, fighting back tears. As David steps back onto the Square, he sees Carol about to get into a taxi. He calls her name, rushing over to her. Carol asks what he wants, as she's really got to go. David sighs, insisting that Carol lets him drive her. Carol says there's no need, but David insists, and Carol stares at him for a moment before sighing. She apologises to the taxi driver for wasting his time, before closing the door. David passes him a £10 note before leading Carol over to his car. From the window of No 31, Morgan watches... At "Walford Crown Court", Joey Branning is sat in a courtroom, him being the only one who turned up for sister Alice's plea hearing. As the Judge calls 'all rise', Joey stands, and the Judge hits his hammer against the desk. The Judge announces that the court is now in session, before looking at Alice, who is stood up. The Judge announces that Alice is here due to being charged with the murder of Michael Moon on the 31st of October 2013. Alice nods slowly, and the Judge asks how she pleads. Alice looks over at Joey, who smiles and nods. The Judge repeats his question as Alice holds her head up confidently. 'Guilty.' Out on Bridge Street, a Salvation Army band is playing in the Square. Peter is watching from his stall, smiling. Lola strolls over to him, carrying two takeaway cups of tea from the Café. Peter thanks her, taking the tea from Lola. Lola asks how everything is, and Peter nods, saying it's good. He takes a sip of his tea. Lola begins to fret about Christmas Day, but Peter interrupts her, claiming it's going to be perfect. Lola asks if he's sure, saying that if he's having second thoughts, it's OK. Peter scoffs, saying course he's not, as he loves her, and tomorrow everyone's going to know that. Lola kisses Peter before smiling at her passing friend Poppy Meadow, who enters the Launderette. Poppy greets friend and housemate Dot, who jumps, announcing that Poppy scared the life out of her. Poppy apologises, chuckling, before asking if she's OK, saying she's been very on edge lately. Dot nods, saying everything's fine. Poppy frowns, asking Dot why she isn't closing up and getting ready for midnight mass. Dot shrugs, admitting she's not going. Poppy gasps, asking why not, and Dot shrugs. Poppy says that it's Christmas, and Dot loves Christmas, so why wouldn't she want to go. Dot says she's guilty, and if she's spending the night with Jesus, that makes her a hypocrite. Poppy frowns, repeating the word 'guilty'. Dot explains she lied to Reverend Stevens, and Poppy sighs, asking about the charity money. Dot nods, explaining that someone stole it. Poppy asks how she gave the church money to Reverend Stevens, before pausing and staring at Dot's guilty face. She gasps, asking if Dot gave her own money. Dot states she had no choice, and Poppy says that makes her even more kind and generous than they already knew she was. She then asks why the Lord wouldn't welcome her into his house, and Dot shrugs. Poppy then suggests she go with her to Midnight Mass, and Dot nods, admitting that'd be great. Out on the Square, Joey is sat on Arthur's Bench, drinking from a vodka bottle. Lauren makes her way through the gardens, and jokes that Joey shouldn't show her the bottle, referring to her alcoholism earlier in the year. Joey rolls his eyes, asking what Lauren wants, and Lauren scoffs, saying that's charming. Joey apologises, and Lauren asks what's got him sat out here, alone, drinking out of a bottle, and Joey sighs, explaining it was Alice's plea hearing today. Lauren sighs, asking what happened, and Joey admits she pleaded guilty, but that's not what's bothering him. Lauren frowns, asking what is, and Joey says that as they've got a massive family, how come he's the only one who cares enough to attend Alice's hearing. Lauren presses her lips, before saying that they all care, maybe people were just busy. Joey scoffs, as Lauren puts her hand on his, and admits she cares. Joey smiles, before leaning forward and kissing her. Lauren shrieks his name, pushing him back. Joey begins to say that he thought that's what she wanted, but Lauren shakes her head before storming off. Joey sighs, kicking a stone angrily... David car pulls up outside of Walford General, and David asks why they're here. Carol lies that it's just a check-up, and David insists he'll come in with her. Carol shakes her head, saying there's no need, but David smiles, saying it's fine, and he insists. Carol sighs, allowing him to come in. They enter the hospital, and Carol tells the receptionist her name. Carol adds that they're a little bit late, and apologises. The receptionist smiles, before telling her that her consultant, Dr Rana, is ready to her now. Carol nervously asks why he's ready so soon, and the receptionist shrugs. Carol and David sit on a chair outside Dr Rana's office, waiting patiently. David goes to speak to her, but Dr Rana exits the room, and calls her name. Carol smiles awkwardly, before she and David enter the room. Dr Rana sits at his desk, and brings Carol's patient notes up, before checking they they're here about a lump in Carol's right breast. David gasps, and Carol shrugs. She quietly says that it's probably nothing, and David scoffs. Carol then admits that nobody knows about it, and she wants to leave it at that. David sighs, as Dr Rana says he is going to send her for her mammogram. Over at The Vic, Cora, Ava and Max Branning are sat at a table, talking. It is Kat and Alfie's final night in The Vic, and the place is full as they are offering 'BOGOF' drinks! Kat is stood behind the bar with her hand on her hips, enjoying her final night as Landlady. Alfie comes up behind her and kisses her from behind. He asks if everything is alright, and Kat nods, saying it's great, before adding that maybe the Vic has too many bad memories anyway. Alfie agrees with her as Lauren enters the pub, and smiles at her Dad. She sits down next to him, and he asks why she looks so angry. Lauren shakes her head, insisting it is nothing, before looking over at Jake Stone, who is sat with his family, Sadie and Bella. Jake smiles at her, as Lauren brushes her hair behind her ear. From the door of The Vic, Mo calls Kat's name, as Kat sighs, asking what is wrong. Mo asks if Kat remembers the surprise she mentioned, and Kat nods. Charlie Slater loudly grins, as Mo says 'surprise'. Kat squeals 'Dad', rushing around the bar and pulling her Dad into a big hug. Charlie chuckles as Kat hugs him tightly. On the other side of the pub, Jake makes up a quick mistake to Sadie, before downing his orange juice, kissing his wife and leaving, winking at Lauren as he does so. Lauren tells her family she's going to go to the toilet, before heading over to the bathroom - but slipping out of the door on her way. She heads into the alleyway next to it as Billy stands on the corner of the street, wearing Janine's sign. His phone rings, and he looks down at the text message from Janine, claiming she needs help. Billy rushes over to the house as the camera heads into the alleyway next to The Vic. Jake and Lauren are kissing passionately. Jake asks if they should head back to Lauren's as he kisses her neck. Lauren nods, still kissing Jake passionately before taking his hand and leading him out of the alleyway cautiously. Billy arrives at No. 27 to find the place a mess. Janine has smashed things up, and is sitting in a pool of her own destruction in the living room. Billy whispers Janine's name, and Janine begins to cry. Billy rushes over to her, asking what is wrong, and Janine whispers that it is David's. She then claims he killed Michael, but is saying she did it, and that he wants money, or is threatening her or Scarlett. Janine bursts into tears as Billy comforts her. Billy pulls Janine into a hug as she sobs. Janine then says that she needs Billy to do something for her, and Billy nods, saying he'll do anything to help. Janine inhales deeply as she admits she wants David dead - she wants Billy to kill David, leaving Billy shocked! At the church, Dot and Poppy enter. Reverend Stevens greets them, and Poppy assures Dot that things will start to get better. Dot thanks her, smiling. Stevens asks Dot if she's ready for her "star turn", and Dot nods as Poppy gives her back her hand bell. Dot stands up at the front of the church as the other hand bell ringers begin to perform 'Carol of the Bells' over a final montage: Alfie makes a speech in The Vic about their time there, and Charlie announces he's going to cry, which lightens the mood; Morgan sits in his room, thinking about his discovery the day before, when he discovered that Janine killed Michael; Jake and Lauren enter Lauren's bedroom, passionately kissing. They undress each other before falling back onto the bed, where they have sex, as out on Albert Square, Joey reaches the end of his vodka bottle. He pulls out his phone, and his screensaver is revealed to be that of him and Lauren back when they were happy; Janine packs the £250,000 into a bag, before smirking deviously; Billy stares at Carol's house, before looking over at No 27; a petrified Carol has her mammogram, and Dr Rana reveals that the mammogram has picked up some smaller lumps around the bigger lump. Carol has some biopsies taken, and Dr Rana tells her that she will receive the test results in just over a week. Outside of the hospital, Carol reveals to David that she thinks she's got cancer...; and finally, Poppy smiles at Dot as she happily performs the song with the other hand bell ringers, as the song continues throughout the credits... The next to appear will be brother Mick Carter, played by former Emmerdale star James Thornton. Mick is the husband of Linda, and the father of Lee, Nancy and Johnny. He will arrive along with youngest son Johnny, played by CBBC star Sam Strike. Johnny is a Law Student, who is hiding a big secret. New Year's Day will see us introduced to middle Carter child Nancy, played by relative newcomer Maddy Hill, whilst we will then meet eldest Carter child Lee (played by newcomer Danny-Boy Hatchard), as well as Shirley's father Stan (veteran Timothy West), Stan's sister-in-law Babe Smith (Annette Badland) and Tina's ex-girlfriend Fiona 'Tosh' Mackintosh (Rebecca Scroggs). There's also three upcoming returns, with Tina's daughter Zsa Zsa (Emer Kenny) set to appear, whilst Shirley's children Carly and Dean Wicks, played by Kellie Shirley and Matt Di Angelo respectively, also set to return.
