Awkward....

Sharon "My songbird from abroad! ... *turns to Louis* What's her name?"
Louis "Saara.."
Sharon "SAARA!!"

See, that's Saara. Why they insist on making her into some odd Norwegian bird called Zara every Saturday night, I just don't know. I wouldn't vote for that if I didn't know her from ESC. But again, tonight in the sing off, she was amazing.

It's no surprise that Saara soars when it's under her control in the sing-offs. Can she be her own diva in Diva Week and do the full No Fear extravaganza.

Wow, I was 101% certain that Saara was a goner the very second it went to deadlock, thank god I was wrong.

If she's in the bottom 3 again next week then she's definitely out no question but I'm hoping that she'll be more in her element with Divas as opposed to Motown.

Like foxy said I was sure she was a gonner.

It actually wouldnt surprise me if she polled higher than Ryan as well. This silly app thing is always going to favour the Tweenies.

I think the constant bottom 2 thing is probably good for her as she is generating more publicity than if she was just floating through in the background.

This bottom 3 thing makes it so skewed towards the young guys escaping the sing off. The fact is that Saara might not have been in the bottom 2 in either weeks!

So chuffed for her though, getting through on deadlock shows she at least polled more than Freddy, she needs to smash Divas next week and hopefully she can escape it!

The full voting figures will make for a very interesting read that's for sure!

Happy with the result of weird/crazy contest – much obliged!

What a tough Female Soloists list Portugal! Me thinks this will require a couple of passes through the list to pick a final winner. Makes me feel all nostalgic too!

Have you done a list favourite entries from Eurovision stars that didn’t win their National Final or previous attempts that didn’t get through to the Grand Final and then tried again? A ‘piped at the post but I will return/I've already been' list so to speak?

I rather liked Zoe’s 2015 effort ‘Quel Filou’ – it sums her up thing as an artist : quirky, sings in French, charming with hints of something else and it’s a pretty decent song. Conchita’s second place in 2012 with ‘That’s What I Am’ and from the same here Zoe’s Dad (co-writer of ‘Loin d’ici’) and his band Papermoon got through to the final with ‘Vater, Father, Mon Père’. A whole bunch of Melfest options including attempted returnee Krista Siegfried this year with 'Faller', Sanna Nielson in 2001 and 2003 ('I går, I dag' and 'Hela Världen för Mig' respectively [had to double-check these ones]). Loreen in 2011 with ‘My Heart Is Refusing Me’, Katrina without her Waves with ‘As If Tomorrow Will Never Come’ did it in 2005; there are others. Kaliopi’s ‘Samo Ti’ from 1996 when FYR Macedonia tried to debut but failed. Zlata Ognevich in 2010 ‘Tiny Island’ and in 2011 with ‘The Kukushka’ and seen with retrospect post-‘1944’, Jamala’s 2011 effort ‘Smile’ is the great selection WTF like ever! Authentically mad. It’s cartoony but fun and happy (woman clearly has a sense of humour!) and a song in desperate search of a point (the overuse of "Smile" is ridiculous, but hey she is writing a song in what her fourth or fifth language, I couldn't....). Yet, for all its obvious flaws (and they probably picked the right song that year despite the controversy), it has every one of the established Jamala tropes in there – the genre-jumping sound, the crazy fashion sense (WTF is she wearing!), the weird body movements and the insane vocals – there’s honest to goodness yodelling in there! Yippee!

PS – clearly Saara is getting the same treatment from us Brits as she did from the Finns. Still, getting this far through as a foreigner with no real fan-base here is pretty darned good. Meanwhile, Honey G’s appeal is mysterious to me….

PPSThe Riga Beaver rocks! The only reason I watch the Latvia NF (or fast-forward through the talking and watch the songs) is the Beaver, isn’t that sad?

I never tire of this video! Only in second place it's Silvia Night, and she will not be happy... everyone who did not vote for her, ungrateful b*****ds, she will sue you, and you will all go to jail.

2nd: 105 points
Silvia Night goes crazy (2006)The reason that Silvia didn't win, as she will no doubt point out herself, is that she's not some f****** old b**** from Ireland. Yes your runaway winner is Linda Martin and that time she decided to call Billy McGuinness an odious little man and a gobshite on live TV. A deserved winner, congratulations to sbrum1984!

Ha! Thank you for the votes all. I wasn't sure Linda would be weird enough but who was I trying to kid?! My back up option was a 6 second clip of "Hamburg is flipping out!"

Winning this makes up for Adore bombing so hard in the previous fantasy! As for this week's playlist, I can categorically state that I won't make the double but I have my 12 sorted and about 6 other entries to give points to. Eurovision playlists also makes me want the current contest to hurry up!

As for X Factor; after enjoying the auditions I've found that I can't watch the live shows. I usually like Sharon and Nicole but the cringe level is unreal. Especially Sharon's "Zara from Norway" schtick. It's so disrespectful and taps into that horrible 'I'm a great Brit and you're from somewhere strange, therefore I'm superior' attitude that pervades forums after ESC. I'm keeping up with Saara's progress here instead.

Shall we ask for a 'piped at the post' official poll? Anybody who hasn't seen 'Smile' is in for a treat....

Although it does take all the fun of searching for entries in our little contests away when you in a sense, give away all the answers.

My bad!

I can't help myself, call me a pedant. But seriously, 'Smile' is the 'Laika' of 2011 - file under "what the hell was she thinking!"

I honestly think that Sharon forgot her name on purpose.

Every week I think back to this article from the summer.... http://www.express.co.uk/celebrity-n...eople-X-Factor

So I assume I'm right in thinking that an announcement of San Marino's act on Saturday is a load of cobblers?

It was supposed to be last weekend or at least that's what San Marino's press release hinted at with their special 2hr show, but the only surprise in the end was Serhat performing in Germany and a hello message. San Marino still haven't fully committed to 2017 yet.
