I've been going with O-Gene?

A good one to start out the blocks. A girlband that can sing and sort of Fifth Harmony-lite. Contrary to popular beliefs, I don't like being a miserable bitch all the time during the season!

Their intro package vid they posted on twitter is really good.

Edit: Yep it's O-Gene.

I love the idea of Ogg-three-ne. I'm guessing that the 3 is there just because there's 3 of them?

It's just pronounced 'Ogene'. I have no idea why they insist on spelling it with a 3, what Ogene stands for or why the hell we are sending them to Eurovision.

I've been pronouncing it as 'Og-threenie' not that it matters given that I only heard of them five minutes ago.

Without wishing to offend anyone I'm really not keen on the sound of the Dutch language, it's like you stuffed your mouth with peanut better and tried to use it as a mouthwash.

Is it much too cynical to suggest these girls are better than whatever dregs we are likely to be able to delude into taking up the UK's waste-of-time-and-money-before-we-even-go baton?

I have liked every Dutch entry since 2013 (I thought 'Walk Along' was a decent song, just the staging and Trijntje's outfit were off.) The Dutch have some momentum to capitalise on along with the Belgians getting a bit of a run of respectable placings whilst doing their own thing (I was not on the Laura hate train this year, I liked it way better than Finland's attempt to do the same thing). This contrasts a lot with most of the Big 5 who except perhaps the Italians appear to have given up or seem perfectly content to sabotage their own songs with poor staging - I'm looking at you Spain, Germany and Italy this year and let's not even get started on poor Molly in 2014! I'm a bit pissed about that because its really not necessary and 'Say Yay!' was a really fun song with a lot of support out there.

And having like RIDICULOUS fun wandering about YouTube looking for ridiculous old Reject NF entries!

There's a good example of crazy from Semi Final 2 Ukraine this last year, Japanda with 'Anime'. The dancing Panda-man - huh? They were lucky actually not they weren't in Semi 1 which had both Jamala (who ironically the Jury hated - she may have had visions of history repeating itself ala 2011 and missing out at the last minute via weird voting) and The Hardkiss in full flow and where Anastasia Prikhodko got her ass handed to her in what was effectively one giant national call to arms. They would have been embarrassed. It was epic!

Reg next contest. Are winners also allowed as long as you use NF performance?
Not that I have anything in mind, just curious
Nope, only those that didn't win

Phills Review

Dan the Banjo Man This is the strangest thing ive ever seen
Lady Gaga Sounds like something that would be entered in the Moldovan NF
The Communards This is so 80's sounding
Carrie Underwood Really liking this
Troye Sivan This sounds like a few songs in one, its ok
Lia Marie Johnson This was just a little on the depressing side
NERVO feat. Kylie Minogue, Jake Shears & Nile Rodgers I quite liked this
PoP! With a name like that I'm sure I will like it. There was an 80's rival in the mid naughties, I did like it
Radwimps I quite liked this in a strange kind of way some Japanese Emo music
Sugababes Sugababes version 2.0 where the best
Marios Hadjichristos Not into this
Kyo feat. Sita I really liked this
The Beautiful South Classic Karaoke song in my family
Cesare Cremonini This was ok
Sofia Jannock Enjoying this
Cocovan Though this was Dancing On my Own when it started, Its good
Dua Lipa We should totally convince her to do it, 12 points from Albania, good song
Robson and Jerome A double A side single, remember those, awful song though
Sara Bareilles Was OK, usually like her stuff more
Angela Lansbury Nice to see she's still got it, this was only entered a few weeks back though
Hinge and Bracket
HA-ASH Clearly saved the best till last

Bliss! Joy! Happiness!

Clarification - please don't throw digital rotten veggies at me!

Do we mean 'best' as in "wow, that was really great, they totally should have won" or 'best' as in super entertaining/crazy/memorable and you were sad that they didn't get the nod (I say again 'Smile' takes the biscuit - even though it would have died in Dusseldorf). It would be a very different list if we were to favour one over another, or am I yet again over-thinking this....
Overthinking it. It's about staging. So the song could be utter crap, but the staging amazing.
yes Emdumm, think Winny Puuh rather than Smile or Ithaka Maria.

The Weedy Review
Did you miss me last time?

Dan the Banjo Man – Someone’s been playing the Sims for too long. Its tedious, and its not the Hamsterdance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WpMlwVwydo
Lady Gaga – Woman wailing and screaming about something tunelessly. Where’s the weird outfit and hat?
Communards – Jimmy Somerville pinches a Jackson 5 Song. Play the original.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=payalIgV9Zw
And no Sarah Jane Morris, so no interest and no points from me.
Carrie Underwood – Sounds like every other Country and Western singer, and the tune sounds like every other Country and Western song. I of course adore C&W - NOT! (Is that how you trendy youngsters would put it?)
Troye Sivan – I remember the Roller Disco fad, but didn’t care for it. Not sure why its hinted at in the video as this is just a whiny boy song, majorly autotuned to hide a weak voice. Boring.
Lia Marie Johnson – Whiny grizzle from a girl barely out of school. What would she know anyway? Utterly tedious.
NERVO and Kylie and friends – You are wasting your time with the Damian Lewis lookalike Kylie, he clearly bats for the other side. And the order of names in this video is clearly wrong as the two girls barely sing. Luckily.
POP! – Short-lived British teenybopper pop group mentored by Pete Waterman, so they were doomed from the start. On a musical par with “That Sounds Good to Me” (ie pants.)
Radwimps – Japanese pop rock group, who seem to be missing a drummer. They seem to have the right amps (Marshalls) but Monkey as a drummer? That can’t be right.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1dlaikCaa4
Sugababes – Which version is this? 1.0, 2.0 ? Do I care? No. That’s another three minutes of my life I won’t get back.
Marios Hadjichristos – I saw the name and thought there surely must be plate smashing. Unfortunately there wasn’t, just some hairy bloke boring the pants off me. That’s six minutes I’ve wasted now.
Kyo ft Sita – they claim to be a French rock band, but like French hotels that claim to be three star, it ain’t necessarily so. Dull.
The Beautiful South – Classic 1990 track from a group who couldn’t keep their female lead singers for long. I think this is Briana Corrigan.
Cesare Cremonini – just because its in Italian doesn’t make the song interesting. Pitiful whine and it goes on forever. Skip.
Sofia Jannock – it’s a bit monotonous, but, crumbs, I hate to say this, it was quite tolerable. I must be ill.
Cocovan – She does know what her name means, right? Google went straight to the recipe, and I agree with Google, I’d rather have the dinner, rather than listen to this paint by numbers pop tune. And she forgot to put her skirt on.
Dua Lipa – Yet another forgettable pop tune from a girl who cannot decide whether she should be a singer or a model.
Robson and Jerome – FFS. Play the original.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hMOCyUTVTc
Sara Bareilles – Its not much of a song, is it? However it does seem to be a live version, and thus not autotuned to death, so I may have to throw it a token point.
Angela Landsbury – FFS. Next.
Hinge and Bracket – Well I expected a bit of class from Doctor Evadne and Dame Hilda, a bit of light opera or similar, and I was not disappointed. These ‘gels’ used to hold soirees in various theatres, all quips, bitching and arias. Here they describe most modern music… It’s the oldest tune in our list by some way (even allowing for Robson and Jerome’s “I Believe”) so it must be Drew’s. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duetto_buffo_di_due_gatti
HA-ASH – And from the sublime to the ridiculous, a Mexican sisterly pop duo, singing yet another pop factory instantly forgettable tune.

Votes? Oh dear, I’m with Lisa B.

It's also relatively similar to English. I've often wondered how English sounds to non-native speakers....

In any case, I'm guessing that they'll stick with English.

Just catching up on the news about O'G3NE, hmm, I'd be distinctly underwhelmed if the UK sent something like that. First girl group at Eurovision since Moje 3? And they were so bad that Serbia went into exile for a year...

She's been miles ahead every week including auditions. It's because she gets views from around the world(especially Finland). Doesn't necessarily translate to votes
