Donny's note at 2.13

Dear god Nicky, and Poli is pretty awful as well

In fact Samra was better than the two mentioned above

So based on voting history, iTunes, Spotify etc I think this is how our tele voting would have been if there was no diaspora voting.

12 Russia
10 Australia
8 Bulgaria
7 Ukraine
6 Spain
5 Sweden
4 France
3 Netherlands
2 Cyprus
1 Lithuania

Oh my god I love Poli but when she wonkily sings the Bulgarian line and does those leg movements I can't breathe!

This looks a lot more like you'd expect actually.

Oh I agree she's bloody adorable! The flick of her hair during that line, gorgeous!

Get Josephine in Melfest 2017!

NRK must've been fuming that she nails Icebreaker better than Agnete ever did.

Was literally just about to type this! Would be great to see her in Melfest! She has a massive set of lungs!

Definitely! She did 'Sound of Silence' too. Great.

And the Netherlands: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRkihC2vn7g

And that stand-in for Frans makes the song 100 times better.

12 Russia

Our televote went:

12 Lithuania (130,000 diaspora with record of dominating our televote the last few years)
10 Poland (650,000 diaspora with similar record)
8 Bulgaria (57,000 diaspora)
7 Russia (46,000 diaspora that prob don't watch BBC anyway)
6 Australia (100,000 diaspora, likely to watch BBC but prob not bothered about ESC)
5 Ukraine (26,000 diaspora)
4 Spain (83,000 diaspora)
3 Latvia (70,000 diaspora)
2 Cyprus (50,000 diaspora)
1 Sweden (30,000)

11th were France (136,000 diaspora but traditionally not interested in ESC)
12th were Holland (60,000)
13th were Austria (20,000)
14th Belgium (30,000)
15th Malta (30,000)

so minus the likely diaspora votes I'd say Brits voted:
1. Bulgaria
2. Russia
3. Ukraine
4. Australia
5. Spain
6. Latvia
7. Cyprus
8. Sweden
9. Netherlands
10. France

I was rewatching Katrina’s win in 1997 and it makes me hungry for the UK to win sometime soon. Eurovision has changed so much since our last win, especially in the last decade. Every year has a new concept, theme, stage etc. I wanna see what we can do as a host. I wanna see how we can push the boat out from the previous year. I really think if the BBC would pull their goddamn finger out and score us a win, that hosting the contest would bring back the Brits excitement for Eurovision.

The downside is, we can’t win until the BBC gets it together. We need a proper National selection. Not a shoddy little show where everything goes wrong. We don’t need to send big artists or house hold names, we just need people who can write a damn song! If we get to choose our entry for 2017, I don’t want songs that could do well, I want songs that the BBC feel would win

I liked the Lithuanian and Polish songs more than the Bulgarian, Russian or Ukraine.

Does anyone else think that if Dami had given a better performance on the night that she would have won? I came online to say how screechy she sounded in comparison to her semi final performance, and saw others saying exactly the same. She wanted it a little bit too much, I feel.
Could be. Quite a few I thought (at least from my memory) gave worse performances in the final. Lithuania, Belgium, Cyprus and Armenia I felt that too. After the semis, rehearsals, jury final maybe the voices might not be so strong, I read somewhere that the Armenian singer had to recover from vocal problems (don't know if true or not). Of course nerves in the final can play a part too, with the even bigger audience and event.

The one who did better I thought was the Polish singer, he absolutely nailed his vocal in the final. Also I liked the Czech song more in the final.

Wogan and Graham Norton have repeatedly said: the BBC do not want to win/host. So it aint gonna happen until they change their attitude.

Watching some of the voice only videos and it always puzzles me how in Lighthouse X the best singer was the guy who actually sang the least solo bits.

Just watched Joe & Jake perform on Up Late With Rylan. Surely the first time in recent years our ESC act has been on tv after the contest and not been dropped like a stone?

Most interestingly, they actually said they would love to do Eurovision again if ever given the opportunity! Oh, and 'if the result was better' Not sure you get the choice on that one though, lads.

Russians, bitter as ever it seems, have already published the image of next year's stage:

(Seriously, their childish behavior in youtube etc. has been appalling...)

As an Aussie I'd say Aussies voted for favourite or best song/over all presentation. Dami was incredible as was her song but if they sent some rubbish song or artist there is no way Aussies would support it

I think the Lithuanian and Poland thing is they vote for their home country no matter what, where as most Aussies have watched over the years and seen how all the neighbours vote for each other & diaspora and we play fair. well just my opinion
