Add my Yay to the list!
I really like the upbeat Albanian entries, Juliana Pasha, Elhaida Dani. I watched Rona Nishliu in stunned silence wondering how in the name of hell she does that with her voice. I quite liked ‘Përrallë’, minor Bond theme and all, before they wrecked it in what must surely be the greatest case of self-sabotage in the Contest’s history. It’d be good if Eneda Tarifa tried again with something better, she’s got a great voice. I’m in favour of any changes to Festivali i Këngës that gives good songs a chance at winning and maybe not destroying itself later. But most importantly – they have to put some money on the stage, if they don’t, they are wasting their time. I back Aliona Moon too for reference – experienced pair of hands Moldova could use. I didn’t dislike ‘Falling Stars’, I just figure they need something with a wee bit of oomph…. Nice to hear that Russia is going to Kyiv, to drop-out looks a tad churlish. They were always going to think they were robbed if they didn’t win fine. I would remind them of the Irish voting on UK entries from about 1968 to the late 1970s, marking us down even on songs that win – Brotherhood of Man got 3 points, they marked New Seekers pretty hard too. Lulu got nothing from them – I mean Lulu for God’s sakes! Fair enough, 1969 was a hellish year in NI, but it is one of the more obvious cases of political voting going. The BBC did not stomp out because Cliff was beaten by Massiel with a chorus composed entirely of the word 'La'. You either go in wholeheartedly, accept that the system is imperfect and give your best anyway or you don’t show up. And realistically, it wasn’t the Crimea that cost them political votes – it was Russia's appalling anti-gay laws and there’s no two ways about it. Ukraine is not a paragon in this regard, but the LGBT community flexed their muscles, that would only become more blatant if we downgraded the juries. They can't stomach that, maybe it would be better if they didn't come at all…. PS - my dear Ross, regarding the NF Reject poll - I have no clue what the usual way for voting is. That was what I was asking, evidently imprecisely. I just normally make my own private judgement and then try to figure out who won from the thread. |

NF Guilty Pleasures Went with the majority since this was the one a few of you got chatty about. Got a National Final entry you've always had a secret love for, but daren't watch it crash and burn in a rejects round, then this is the round for you. Just drop me a PM with your chosen entry. It can be from any year. Submissions close 5pm Sunday 6th Nov. Good luck.

But urgh, difficult to rank 'em - I often find it hard to pick a favourite song out of two or three! Thinking cap on! And this is what I mean by sustainability – broadcasters financially trashing themselves whilst we rejoice demanding bigger and bigger Contests. There has to be a limit at some point I fear. It bodes badly for poorer countries winning with a dark horse in the future…. |

Randomly stumbled across Slovenia's junior Eurovision entry from last year when browsing YouTube.
I forgot how stunning it was

Lisa.B just to clarify.. are we looking for an entry that for whatever reason most people think is embarrassingly awful but you could never dare to admit to liking.. until now?

![]() It can even be something that'd otherwise be semi-decent, but it was a complete trainwreck live or is cheesy, naff, out-dated, whatever. It's all down to what everyone deems to them is a guilty pleasure. |

Not content with manipulating Melfest and sticking his oar in in other broadcasters NFs, now he's spreading the Sith Empire to JESC as well.

Why was Horehronie the second most watched Eurovision video in October?

Personally, I am of the opinion that Finland should just let me decide every year. Angelo de Nile would have brought the contest to Helsinki. All for Victory! (and half naked Roman soldiers).

Just catching up on the news about O'G3NE, hmm, I'd be distinctly underwhelmed if the UK sent something like that. First girl group at Eurovision since Moje 3? And they were so bad that Serbia went into exile for a year...

Here is my problem with NF rounds. I have only done 1 NF season and only have knowledge of other ones as you lot put the vids on here from other contests. I am not saying don't do it because that is stupid but I can only have a guilty pleasure from songs I know from first watch during the NF.
Oh well sod it! I will have to work with what little knowledge I've got! ![]() |

There's been ESC guilty pleasures, but not an NF one. As long as it's from a National Final. It just comes down to personal interpretation. If your ipod was hooked up to a speaker and it came on in public and you'd sprint faster than Usain Bolt to skip it then it's probably a guilty pleasure.
I wouldn't expect people to be trying to pass off stuff like My Heart Is Refusing Me or whatever or winning NF songs.![]()

I really miss playing but I don't know how I could possibly find time to look for songs. I regret not being one of those people who made playlists of songs for every country.
Can I still vote even if I'm not participating?
