I’ve just noticed we don’t have a comp for next week. So without further ado…

Eurovision Song Contest - Best Group Ever!

Welcome one and all to the competition to decide which is the best group ever in Eurovision.

Too easy, I hear you cry, we all know which is the best group ever. Its ABBA!

But is it? So let me have your submissions. The rules are:
- The group must have at least three members
- it must be an obvious group, not a singer plus some backing singers/prancers
- The video must be the Eurovision performance
- You can pick previous winners, except that …
- You cannot pick ABBA.

ABBA will appear on the playlist as an independent entry, and all FMs can vote for them. As ABBA won’t be voting for your entry in the competition (we can but dream, (or even “I had a dream”)) their total vote will suffer a small penalty.

Send your entry and a Utube link to me in a PM by 6pm Sunday 27 Nov.

Slim pickings I'm afraid in Finland.
I would go for Lauri, Gunther or that rock-lite band at a stretch.
Circle Of Light is just bad.

Welcome back rosetta!
Hi Anne, and thanks

Great to see you back Rosetta.

Perhaps you can tell us how Saara Aalto's involvement with the British X-Factor is seen in Finland. We are all rooting for her on this forum, and she is obviously the best of the acts by some distance.
Thanks weedy; well, it's seen like she's representing Finland over there, people are taking pride like it was Eurovision, kind of (Not sure that most people follow it though...)

It's just a bit funny though how she always complains that people didn't like her in Finland, yet she was 2nd in NF twice...

Yes, and it begins with an L Hmm, now that I'm here, I might have to enter this one...
(Actually, there are at least 4 groups I'd love to enter in this, too hard...!)

I do like their ESC entry, actually... although it obviously isn't on a par with Asereje.

She's my favorite Finnish export since the Moomins.

Infact she is winning more and more hearts over here too, she's down to the last five despite being in the bottom two the first 2 weeks of the live shows. We're all so very proud.

It's great the way the eurofans and people generally disillusioned with X Factor have rallied in support of Saara. This poll over in that section says it all. She's definitely had the last laugh, sing what away now?... Given her theatrical background, she's opened herself a few doors over here at least and Saara's said that she and her missus would like to live in the UK full time.

Her songs this week are The Winner Takes It All and a mash-up of Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend/Diamonds Are Forever. Saara did TWTIA at Judges Houses... I guess it's the producers way of saying we didn't expect you to be here this long, err just do this one.

Perfect Villain is amazing. I thought it was average upon first hearing, but it's actually soooo good. Literally had it stuck in my head.

Ugh, she needs to win UMK.

Aftonbladet is reporting that Charlotte Perrelli is taking part in Melodifestivalen with a schlager banger!

As excited as I am to hear it, with the app voting having taken over the contest it's going to be an uphill struggle for her to even make AC Melfest is a young person's game these days.

Christmas? Fright night, more like

Given her theatrical background, she's opened herself a few doors over here at least and Saara's said that she and her missus would like to live in the UK full time..
Ha! Finns might not feel so proud of her then, if they knew that And I feel it's quite funny that she hadn't even visited UK ever before her audition... (Or maybe it's just me being an old hand, having lived there and feeling superior to such newbies )

Don't you reckon doing TWTIA might hurt her chances since she's done that already in the show, and at a point when she was very unpopular there (I've been told), almost dropped out of the game...?

Not a great song choice... I'm glad she's still in it, but she hasn't a hope in hell of beating 'the chosen one'.

Yes! Schlager lives on! Take that, Christer. Wasn't she supposed to host last year? Well, this year...

As excited as I am to hear it, with the app voting having taken over the contest it's going to be an uphill struggle for her to even make AC Melfest is a young person's game these days.
Tell that to Molly Petterson-Hammar. I will get her to the final one day! I can't wait for Mariette Hansson's return.

Your loss is our gain. Who knows we might even steal her for Eurovision ourselves, what with Mahan Moin and EDF in our song-writing dungeon, there's a slim chance the BBC might not embarrass themselves for a change!

It might be seen as a lazy choice, but it's common for acts to redo songs in the latter stages. The 'chosen one', Matt Terry is doing a song he did during the 6 chair challenge.

Other than 'Hero' Charlotte Perrelli (or any kind of schlager for that matter) really doesn't do much for me.

I'm outta here!!!

Not one mention of the word 'realness' anywhere.

Circle of Light seems to be the consensus then, which means they'll probably go rogue again.

The only thing that could top Charlotte Perrelli turning up to Melfest would be a Carola reappearance
