Forgive me, I don't follow X-Factor but...could Saara actually win the whole thing? And do we actually want her to, from a Eurovision perspective - could she yet go to Kiev for us?
She has an outside shot as she's got some decent momentum going into to it but I still think her winning is unlikely- But its certainly not impossible. Going to Kiev seems a long shot if she does win it, there's no chance as Cowell won't let her release new music until the new series of XF in 2017.

If she doesn't I actually don't think it would be a bad move her, captialise on her new found fan base quickly and get some new music out and exposure across Europe as well. (Plus we'd be an almost guaranteed 12 from the finnish televote) Depends if the BBC or Hugh Goldsmith has approached her and Simon Cowell as he'd still have the option of signing her if he wanted to. She is touring with them starting on the 24th Feb, which was around the NF date last year but I guess if Simon thinks its a good idea they'll let her have a night off to compete imo.

More likely for 2018 but I do think we'll see an entry from her for us though, she's already said she hopes to move to the UK with her partner permanently.

Shout out to one of my all time Eurovision guilty pleasures, can you believe this came third last with only Estonia saving it from joining Jemini on nul points?

I just happened to notice a pattern regarding the female Maltese NF entrants last year, and was foolish enough to mention it.
Can't wait for the Maltese selection process and NF this year, it can't be that far away...
Rumours are that Christabelle, Jessika, Deborah C, Franklin and Lawrence Gray will be taking part

It's NEXT year's Malta selection I'm looking forward to because Destiny will be old enough to enter (and win)

Tobbe Ek of Aftonbladet has been Tweeting and says that Krista, Dolly Style and Sean Banan were all dropped from this year's line-up.

The songs they submitted are below, alongside one by Sara Sangfelt that has also been snubbed. Dolly Style's would have been their best yet!

Also, very happy about finishing third. It was much better than expected, and bit tired of bottom 5...

The dolls will have more lineups than the Sugababes at this rate. Really don't like the new singer's voice, there isn't nearly enough 'dolly style'.

I didn't think the Dolly's would be back given that was in the public domain or at least not with that song. Shame, it's a step up from what the previous editions of the Dolly's have done.

Lidia Isac is randomly in the Swiss selection duetting with some Italian bloke according to her FB. It is unbelievably dull though.

The UMK 2017 compilation has been uploaded to spotify. Paradise is way out in front with 24k streams, Circle of Light is next with 9k, the rest are in the 3-6k range and unsurprisingly, Caveman is last with just over 2k streams.

Whereas on youtube it's Love Yourself on 33k, Circle of Light with 32k, the rest all under 20k and again Caveman last with 9k. Paradise is second last on views with 12k.

Well, only to the extent that almost all female Ukrainian Eurovision singers are stunningly pretty.
It's not just how they look either, it's what they do with it as well.

Strangely, two of them have ended up in the Ukrainian Parliament after-words. Ruslana - bone fide revolutionary, twice and counting and advised the Ukrainian PM for Our Ukraine i.e. the guys in Orange and Zlata Ognevich Nov 2014-Nov 2015 for the Radical Party - she's fairly left-wing.

Zlata and Anastasia Prikhodko went properly Forces Sweetheart during the War in the Donbass. And most of them end up being full-blown activists, not least Verka (broad-ranging), Ani Lorak (HIV/AIDS), Tina Karol (HIV/AIDS, the Jewish Agency and troop entertainment) and Alyosha (environmentalism). They are pretty much all political somehow or other, don't know why anybody was the least bit surprised by this year....

Katrina would have been very bluntly told to shut up if she'd gone political in the same way after her win here. It might be cultural differences here, but the big difference surely is not just that they care about the Contest and take great care to present their entries properly, but they embrace picking singers who are prepared to use the position to try to get stuff done, whether successfully or not. It might be pop music, but it means something. Pop music as a form of legitimate social expression in a way that has been blasé here probably since Mrs T left No. 10. It seems to work well for them.

As to Saara - I think its safe to say she will have a friendly berth here whatever the case. The deadline for entries has gone this year anyway. I wouldn't want her to tie herself to a dead duck anyway - as much as I would like to do better, it ain't gonna happen, not at the moment. No reason we should destroy her career in the process....

And Ed 'Glitter' Balls or Honey G gone in one weekend! What will people do without somebody to take the piss-out of now? A mash-up - the stuff that nightmares are made off

Rosetta, is Saara's progress making news over in Finland?

Can't believe the bookies have her second favourite to win now and closing in fast. To think she was bottom 2/3 first two weeks....

No Dolly Style next year? Noooooo! This has genuinely let me a little upset. I quite like it as a song too which makes it worse.

I think they're not allowed to compete next year as they've already competed in the last 2 MFs.

Dull as dishwater and not an astronaut in sight! How has this made the top 20? Well, it's Switzerland...

If that's a rule, nobody told BWO, Jessica Andersson or Magnus in the mid-noughties!

So it's the Melfest acts tomorrow, closely followed on Thursday by the 30 songs (from 392 submissions) chosen to go to the online voting in the Spanish selection, which kicks off the day after.

And still Albania are slacking.
